I have this same machine.To protect it from salt corrosion you can spray the metal parts with BoeShield or such. Another tip for those new to these,you will want to have the brake set when starting or transport.Also shut off the fuel supply before transporting to prevent fuel leaking. I am not sure how solid those cargo carriers are,reviews I read are very mixed and you get what you pay for.I use a small semi-enclosed trailer until I have a truck that can carry machine and all gear. It's a learning curve when starting out,like learning to ride a bike.This model has wider handlebars vs the standard so easier to control.For riding you want to be in the center of sled with handlebars as close as possible,the Snowdog sled/drawbar are perfect.Stand or sit,it's a personal choice.

I have a B-13 mer model with soft canvas. Wondering if that shell with latches. Would still fit on the older models.

You cautioned against road salt. Why? Different than with a snowmobile(don’t own one). Also, here in the Adirondacks, we usually have snow on lakes and often deep snow elsewhere. I was looking to use mostly ice fishing with getting around hunting camp in the snow. I heard it doesn’t handle steep grades well. Lastly, what do you do with it on lakes with slush?

The salt on roads will destroy a SNOWDOG like it will a lawn mower. Make sure you haul it in an enclosed trailer or wrap it with a tarp when hauling. It can be challenging on steep grades yes but if you bog down I simply hop off flip the handle bar over and throttle while standing next to the machine

Anything you use in winter will get salt/sand on everything when being towed.

@@QSA10Here in Alaska, we don't use road salt. You should all tell your city/state reps to stop using road salt.

Every video I’ve ever seen with these everybody’s riding on groomed trails or lakes with no snow! How do they go in the somewhat deep snow?

No real issue. If I see that the snow is deeper I will always do a dry run no gear to and from my fishing spot first

I see you are running the slider suspension option instead of the 3 spring trolleys...do you recommend this set-up?

You mentioned heated grips is the thumb throttle heated also ? That’s the part that really gets cold !! Looks really cool how do you transport yours ? I’ve seen some guys use a receiver hitch rack for it ? Great vid.

I actually bought an enclosed trailer to put alllllll of my ice gear in. Makes it a lot nicer for loading and unloading. Receiver hitch rack work but make sure to lay a tarp down and drive up onto it. YOU DO NOT WANT ANY SALT ON THE SNOWDOG. Also the thumb is not heated

How hard is it to steer for someone not super strong ?

It can tow way more than that. In 3” of snow we towed 7 people in sleds. It’s all about spreading the weight out
