Brilliant! Easily the best instructional / guide videos I have ever come across for Snowdonia . Very well planned and executed. An area I am working on exploring very soon. Thanks so much - a very easy subscribe decision here ! :)

Brilliant. While the Poucher and Roland guide books of my early days were good, they cannot compare to this clear guide. The routes up Yr Wyddfa, from the Llanberis side, have become almost unrecognisable over the years. Although Cwm Idwal path is 'paved' this is still one of my favourite routes, with many options to introduce a third generation to explore. Thanks again.

Hi, no swimming is permitted in Llyn Idwal, not even dogs. The lake is home to a rare species of algae which by nature is very delicate and as a result, the lake is no langer in use for swimmers

Oh well, I’ll keep swimming there thanks

Used this guide last week as our first day on a week in Wales. We're both pretty unfit, we took one look at the ascent up Glyder Fawr and decided to just go for Y Garn. The weather was incredible, great views all the way up, and then of the Snowdon Massif on the summit. That descent is very steep indeed though.
@qualitymountainday3 жыл бұрын
Well done, nice job. Yes the descent can be tricky underfoot from ygarn back to the lake. Glad the weather held out for you!

Excellent, great detail and information. The ascent and descent from Llyn Cwn is not pleasant. Did a good variation of this last weekend. From Idwall Cottage followed the path towards Llyn Bochlwyd then branched off right on to Y Gribin, east over Glyder Fawr and then followed this route over Y Garn.

Its a slog thats for sure, Your route sounds great, there are many routes and I am yet to try them all there are a few I would like to try including seniors ridge. Glad you had a blast at the weekend!

Great video, going to do this route as my first scramble, getting a few hikes in first then try this, much better seeing the guide first to know what to expect , brilliant 👍🏻, has the link expired can’t seem to find the route

Ah brilliant well have a great time 👍 I'll post another link.
Absolutely brilliant video and thanks for creating this. Just wished we had seen this video prior to our hike. My wife and I did part of this hike in early August. We started on the right side of the lake and made our way up to the boulders and then took the path downwards on the left side of the lake. Next time, we'll start on the left and use your route.

Hi how long did this roughly? Take doing the route
@qualitymountainday Жыл бұрын
I'd say around 6 hours taking it easy and stopping for a break between summits. It can be cut much shorter if you're only going to do the one

Is there a path once you’ve gotten up Devils Kitchen to head over to Llanberis? I’m trying to plan a route that involves crossing over the Devils Kitchen ridgeline and then hitting Snowdon the next day
@qualitymountainday2 жыл бұрын
Yes, when you get to Llyn-Y-Cwm you can either head straight over on the path that will lead you down Cwm Cneifio towards Llanberis, that would be good if you plan on doing the Llanberis Path. Otherwise, you could follow the Cambrian Way path from Glyder Fawr summit which will lead you to the Pen-Y-Pass Car Park if you plan on going up snowdon via the Pyg Track or Crib Goch. Another, longer option would be to head across Glyder Fawr towards Glyder Fach, and from there take the Miner's Track down to Llyn Pen-Y-Gwryd and the Pen-Y-Gwryd Hotel, then head up Snowdon from there. Enjoy whichever route you choose 👍

Is this dangerous at any points?
@qualitymountainday3 жыл бұрын
No not at all really, however do remember that a relatively risk free route can change for many reasons in the mountains. Bad weather, lack of experience, confidence. So if your not confident in the mountains, go with a group and learning to map read would be time well spent if you don't know already 👍
