If you know of any other hikes that take in abandoned buildings on this type of scale, I'd love to know about the trails! If you know what those tracks were for - miners to go up or slate to go down, I'd love to know this too!

there are so many abandoned buildings in this area, we love Dorothea Quary, there is a lovely old cornish beam engine.

Those goats had insanely long horns! 😱 Much longer than any we had seen! This was such a unique hike. We love hikes that combine history and old structures to see! That affogato also looked 😍😋

Wow, it always means the world when you guys have watched one of my videos! ❤️ Since completing this hike, we've learnt that the area with ruined old mine buildings stretches further than what we explored... and I agree about the goats' horns - crazy long! The affogato was just as good as it looked!

The inclines were for lowering slates down and moving materials and even steam locos between levels. The barracks had two rooms one a kitchen/ living roon and a bedroom which slept 4 quarrymen. You should go back and explore the upper levels. Great video, God bless

Hi Darren, I'm so pleased you've watched this video and been able to answer some of my queries about this hike. I'd never even thought about using the inclines to move other materials, and crazy to think steam locos were shifted on them too. I'd just thought it would be slate or people. Good to know it wasn't people! That's such tight living quarters, a kitchen and living room all in that 1 tiny room, then 4 men in the other room... I'm picturing bunk beds - can't imagine it any other way. I'm eager to visit North Wales again as there are so many things I'd love to go back for... Tryfan, Crib Goch, zip lining, and the upper levels look amazing, so something else to add to the list for sure! So pleased you enjoyed the video

@@WhenAdventureKnox Some times managers and visitors used a special wagon with seats to ride the inclines, the workers had to walk. At blaenau ffestiniog some people including a school mistress used to ride the inclines using a "wild car". I look forward to your next North Wales adventure. God bless

Loved the wild mountain goats blocking the path ahead, perhaps they were trying to tell you that you were going the wrong way. Some good information on the little stone cottages - interesting how history repeats itself. And yes I'm with you on those abandoned places you can just explore, it's always good to walk around and see the history for yourself. Another great vlog Caroline, north Wales looks magnificent!

Oh my goodness I never thought of the goats subconsciously sending us a message, but I love this theory!! It feels unusual to find abandoned places with that level of danger in the UK now, but as you've demonstrated in your videos, very easy to explore in Eastern Europe which I'm sure is another reason why I love it over there. So pleased you enjoyed the video ❤

The Rhiwbach tramway is an interesting walk, running way up into the mountains behind Blaenau Ffestiniog. There is also the walk from Tanygrisiau up the Cwmorthin valley passing 3 slate quarries all the way to Rhosydd slate quarry. God bless

I've heard the trails over there are polar opposites, either hiking in solitude or hiking with the tourist masses. When I eventually get flights booked, I may have to come and pick your brain!

Lovely vid ! :-) I've been there several times. Just checking (as it's not the route I've actually taken before) ..I'm assuming there is a path (you seem to have walked it :-) ) from where you are at 3:20 via 4:03 to the Barracks area at 4:33. I've been at both ends of that sequence but not taken that particular path before. Best regards.

Thank you for your kind comments 🙏 If you're able to put the video to 2:07 where we are walking away from the camera, if you go almost to the end where you hit the sloped hill going up, just to the right of where we are on screen is a foot path that goes straight down the hillside. I hope this helps for future adventures of yours in the area. :)

How are you doing mrs Caroline thank you for showing us such wonderful landscapes sharing your trips with us can I ask you questions what is your speciality youare math or science teacher I told before I studied English language as literature till second year left college I still remember plays of Shakespeare as you like it merchant of Venice famous sonnet shall I compare thee to summer day novels lord of files by William Golding pride prejudice by Jane Austen anyway I gathered main information about places you visited briefly as always here it’s dinorwic quarry welsh known as dinorwig quarry it’s large former slate quarry now home to welsh national slate museum located between villages of liaberis and dinorwig in north wales it’s was second largest slate quarry in wales indeed in world after neighboring penrhyn quarry near Bethesda

Hi Khatoon, I am well thank you, I hope you and your family are too. I mainly teach Computing and trained in this line of teaching, but in recent years I've also started teaching a small amount Food Technology to the younger years (age 12 - 14). We studied Shakespeare too, but I could never get my head around it and I felt that way with English as my 1st language. I'm very impressed that you've studied these authors and English isn't our first language!! I'd heard about Dinorwic quarry being not quite as big as Penrhyn quarry. Penrhyn has now been turned into a zip line activity. The longest and fastest in Europe. When I make it back to North Wales, I'll probably book onto one of the zip line activities.
