We went there on the day when we heard that there was snowfall, it was exactly a year ago. You can expect snowfall early jan till mid jan, keeping checking at the weather forcast

Yes it is the best time to visit Nepal in January. As Kathmandu is a small place you will be able to cover most of the places in 2 days
