I got a soft spot for these 2stroke sleds that are simple as these to work on 😁 I'm currently running a 92 Jag deluxe 440LT and it takes me home every time on my 150 mi logging trips! I love the old Polaris, SKI doo and now Cat 2stroke sleds! Great vid!

would be a good sled to do a 488 fanner swap, be superlight and have a few extra ponies on top of it

The clutch parts are very important, the rollers and cam bolts need to be good. Red loctite on the nuts for the cam bolts, so that you can tighten it by hand, then take it 1/8 turn back out, and rely on the red loctite to keep the nut on, so the bolt can twist. The springs also weaken over time, so over time you either have to replace the springs or shave the weight on the cams. Shave the sides of the cams, so you don't change the angle on the cams. And to shave them you first need a gram weight (for food or whatever). Aaen's clutching book is a good read.

Got a '99 Jag 440 fan from a young guy. Did pretty much the same as you. The kid never pulled the fan top sheet metal to check for Moose nests. (Always packed in around left jug) probably why compression left side a little low. It blew up on left later.

I was thiniking the same thing about how the shop does it with an impact. Also I always hand tighten cv axle nuts on my vechicles so that I don't hammer the bearings but I bet the shop puts the nut on with an impact and it runs just as long as the hand tightened.

Louie just wanted to say you doing absolutely excellent job explaining and teaching while doing what you love! Having your own TV show is excellent and you're damn good at it LOL but if you ever want a change of pace I think you would make an excellent teacher at a trade school! Down here in the states it's pretty much learning as you go but I'm sure up in Canada there's a trade school and or small engine repair that you would be great at...keep the videos coming!

Impact guns no worse than the stress the puller adds to the crank youll be just fine running the impact on the crank sometimes its less stress on the bolt as well

I have a 97 xc 600 triple , It bogs out at 4500 with the air cleaner box and filter , if I take the new filter out of the air box it doesn’t bog but isn’t as snappy as no airbox altogether . If I take airbox completely off it runs mint and is very responsive. Any idea what could cause that ?
@Sawdustpile175 жыл бұрын
fred greenwood sounds like it's a fuel issue. Taking the air filter & box completely off is allowing more air than fuel to run so I'm guessing the carb is jetted a tad too rich for the air filter to restrict airflow it needs to run properly? I'm no genius but it's a thought.

Hope you just spent the $50.00 and got just PTO and Mag Side bearings Center ones almost never go lol! As long as the rod bearings where good and inside bearings are fine. , just change the out side ones , that normally all i do. crank just looked too good , in video to be talking about getting a replacement or sending her out for a rebuild. lol. ALSO After seeing that piston ring glowing red , dont think i would ever keep them single rings crap for backups lol!
@PowerModzOfficial7 жыл бұрын
Naw i did them all...if the outsides are done at 10000 kms its a pretty good assumption that the inners will start to go as well. in any event they were all changed....all bad.

That sled is a pile of shit not worth dumping 500 bucks into a crank and top end..

you dont have the 12 you found on Craigslist do you.. no, you dont. so how can you call them better? no, you can't. this sled in the video needs a few minor things, like most sleds of that mileage/age/usage. dunno what youre trying to do.. but it aint right
