Nice video as always, one thing I do is I just grab a 10mm and 16mm sockets and ratchet and to check my tension, just use a metal ruler, but after watching this, I always say, you can never have enough tools, lol kinda like me never have enough ammo in my case, anyways, I can always add another tool to the tool collection and sled tools

Even though he already said it, I will also say it. Make sure to get a jack. I was lifting the back of the snowmobile as it was being revved and the track snapped. It put me in the hospital in two weeks and am expected to have a 4 month recovery. Make sure to stay safe and get a jack.
@MyOldSled4 жыл бұрын
Oh man. So sorry that happened, hope you recover quick. I’m sorry, but why were you doing that?
@evanweigel13864 жыл бұрын
@@MyOldSled I was picking it up so that it could be revved to keep it running. I was having carb issues and me and a friend were trying to it out. At the time I didn't have a jack so I figured it would be fine to pick it up, I now know that's not the case.

Hey Dave. Great video. I have been debating putting together a video on a simple track change. I believe most people out there with a basic understanding of mechanics are able to perform this service. I have had many older sleds... Currently on my newest machine. And by no means is new... Lol (2003 Polaris Edge XC). The track is the biggest wear point on old machines and most people let them go or sell a perfectly good sled.
@MyOldSled6 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris. Thanks! I have a track change video lined up for this season, now that I have a machine in need of one, and a track on the way. I don't think I'd sell a sled just for the track alone, but I guess if I was thinking about upgrading, a worn out track would help me make up my mind. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Hi Dave. Thank you for all your time and videos. I have a snowmobile I just bought. The track is not good on it . But I can get a good used one for $150 . It does have a couple of lugs ripped off but no studs and no tears. Is this ok ? Was hoping to get a cpuple of seasons from it . What do you think ?
@MyOldSled5 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe, Sorry that's something you have to use your judgement on. I've seen guys throw older tracks on with missing lugs, but I'd hate to advise you wrong. For me, the only way to go is a really good track, they just take too much stress and the results of a broken track can be pretty bad. Make sure the underlying fabric and chords are ok and good luck.
@joerutkowsky32614 жыл бұрын
@@MyOldSled ok thank you for the advice. And getting back to me. I miss the old mxz you had. But yjour newer on is nice to.

Found a forum saying put weights in the track where you measure the deflection. So if it asked 16 pounds get two ten pounders on each side and just giver
@MyOldSled4 жыл бұрын
Basically the same idea. The Woodys track tension measures the force you apply to the trac

My track ratchets a small amount when braking and turning do you think if I just tighten it a touch it will be fine?
@MyOldSled3 жыл бұрын
If its ratcheting i would definitely check tension and inspect drive sprockets

Hey Dave, why aren't you running studs on that thing? I had the exact same sled back in the day, it was a fun sled and mine was actually not studded as well, was good to throw it out on the corners but now a days I never go without studs!
@MyOldSled6 жыл бұрын
I've just never had any concerns with traction. I typically ride on the trail or in powder. I'm not doing a lot of riding on hard surfaces. Never had enough concern to go to the trouble, or drill holes in the track. Not saying I never would. With trail closures I am doing more road running and they would help on the icy stretches.
@MoreToysMoreNoise6 жыл бұрын
I get it, all personal preference. When i bought my ZR last year i tried it for a week without studs and just found it was spinning too much, find it much better now . But anyway, i enjoy the vids, keep up the good work!

My rev adjustment seems to be stuck. I can unscrew the bolts that put pressure on the axle but the axle its self is stuck

Rev adjustment? Do you mean the track tension? Did you loosen the bolts in the centre of the wheel?

Hey Dave, I have been riding recently and have noticed a cracked rear boogie wheel, is this something to be concerned about?? Thanks!
@MyOldSled7 жыл бұрын
Well between the sliders and the other idler wheels, you'd probably be alright, but I'd replace it, cheap and easy. Di you mean the wheel or the support? I just noticed one of my idler supports is cracked watching this video :)
@MyOldSled7 жыл бұрын
Ohhh...you said rear...well I can't see it of course, but I'd replace it. You would not want it to break on the trail.

How do you change suspicions on a 2010 and go to a 2015 r motion 137 track
@MyOldSled6 жыл бұрын
Best way to go for.a longer track is to get an extension kit. They usually have a rail extension, tunnel extension etc so you don’t have to drill holes in your tunnel. Switching suspensions, I couldn’t tell you but if they don’t fit the bolt holes in your tunnel, the rear skid is only held in with 4 bolts so that t can’t be too hard to modify.
@pseudocoder785 жыл бұрын
There's a channel called PowerModz and especially his older videos have a lot of this type of work, putting newer/longer suspensions in older chassis. Might help you out.

@@MyOldSled hehe lol, When i first bought the sled a few years (more like 6) i didn't ever think to look at slides and what not. Along with that stuff, I have no rear suspension and I didn't know it was that bad because when i bought it there was no snow to drive it around for a test. It works perfectly fine just a little back breaking.
