Great analyses. My expectations for this show were....moderate but I've come to enjoy it a lot. Shame it gets so little attention online. Imo Wilford sees the Tower of Babel as a challenge to be conquered. In his mind Wilford will unite the people, ascend to Heaven and surpass the original builders.

I think that the Tower of Babel painting is the exact opposite. As sadistic as Wilfred is, his hubris makes him see himself as a protector of life and giver of opportunity in his world. Every time he looks at that painting he sees sees the opportunity he’s given the other passengers but also knows he’ll never allow them to reach his level. It’s a reflection of the class system he created with his class being separate and unreachable without his blessing... after all he is god in his eyes. I hope that makes sense?

I love your analyses! The show really is so detailed and i wish I would have noticed it the first time! I did notice one thing about Wilford, which is kind of a direct comparison to Napolean. In the episode "a single trade", when Wilford and some of his crew go onto Snowpiercer for the fancy evening, he enters the room with his hand in his blazer/jacket. This is a gesture that Napolean also did in so many of his paintings. I don't remember exactly what it signifies, but i remember there was an interesting Vox video analyzing this gesture. i just thought this would be interesting to mention, and maybe we should look out for more Wilford vs Napoleon references

There's actually multiple trains, so the Show's Snowpiercer and Big Alice are not the only ones. Off the top of my head, I know of one other named train, and that is Icebreaker or Ice Breaker.

Any chance you'll make an analysis video about Wilford's personal book club and his choice of book 'Rebecca'?

The book has a dark atmosphere, understatements, and non-obvious relations. We have a husband, a new wife, Mrs. Denvers, and a memory of the first (murdered) wife. Mrs. Denvers worships the memory of the first wife and does not trust the new wife. Simply put, I think the conversation about the book is an allusion to Audrey (the "new wife") that Wilford wants to invite to work against the Snowpiercer crew. Wilford is here to be "husband". A murdered wife may be a reference to Melanie whom Wilford formerly trusted and whom he now wishes to see dead. Alex as "Mrs. Denvers" is afraid of losing her position at Big Alice and is emotionally attached to "First Wife"...

Through out the Season 2 episodes it is actually hinted that Wilford and Rebecca(Book Character ) have the same pattern of psychopathic behaviour when you rewatch the episodes carefully only with the Wilford scenes which is kind of disturbing when you realise that he has a book club where he discusses Rebecca. Also he was actually trying to figure out if someone is actually criticizing him if someone digs deeper into the book , you actually start to realise how dangerous Wilford actually is. That's why they were so uncomfortable about discussing it in the first place.
