OMG I JUST WANNA SEE SEASON 3 and 4! I LOVE THE BEAUTIFUL TRAIN AND HIS STORYS SO MUCH! THE SERIES IS SO EXCITING AND HAS A LOT OF ACTION! The return of Mr. Wilford was just brilliant! Also the fact, that Alexandra was still alive was very surprising! The scene where Ruth had to decide whether to stay at the hospitality or refuse for the hope of the train was so sad. I really felt for her. It almost brought tears to my eyes myself. Also, the scene with the winter song was so beautiful! I wish I could be there with you too, because I was so swept away by this series and enjoyed it so much. Also the scene of this video was AMAZING! Sean Bean is the perfect actor for Mr. Wilford! It has to be very cool, to be a character in this series. Hopefully season 3 will be so good as season 1 and 2. Hopefully you've seen my comment. Thank you for the nice time!

Here's something I've been wondering: how can Snowpiercer's leftover cars be working? Big Alice is still there, but she's only connected to Snowpiercer's cars by a giant clamp. The electrical connection was destroyed by Melanie, and it was Snowpiercer that collected water for the train. So how can Snowpiercer's cars still be functioning without the engine.

Big Alice is still powering the whole train. Melanie didn’t destroy any electrical connection all she did was sabotage the manual decoupling system and that’s how the two trains were stuck together. As long as Big Alice keeps moving the whole train can survive without Snowpiercers engine.

Each car has its own bogie motors so as long as big Alice keeps moving the cars will power themselves but they’re definitely going to have a water issue fast

You got it wrong. Melanie didn't disconnect any power transfer lines. She only severed the "uplink" which was basically the "remote control" cable from Big Alice to Snowpiercer. That is how they seized control to the Snowpiercer engine. When that "uplink" cable was severed, Snowpiercer couldn't be remotely controlled from Big Alice anymore. But every train engine has several different links going towards the carriages, running across the entire train, and it isn't uncommon for multiple engines to feed the carriages, especially for a long train. There is an electric supply cable, which Melanie definitely didn't break because it would have electrocuted her right there. That is a very thick and high amp cable. There are also pneumatic lines for the brakes and in this case also for water, as well as communications. Snowpiercer was able to call the Big Alice Engine as well as the Headwoods lab from Snowpiercer over the wired telephone system. This would also require a communication cable between the train sets, something which Melanie also did not severe. So what she did severe was a low-amp (still high voltage to account for the length) signal-control cable, as well as the decoupling mechanism under the carriage. That's it. Big Alice is powering the train carriages, not just electrically but also pneumatically and feeds it with water as well, serving the same purpose as the Snowpiercer engine. They would have stopped almost immediately if Big Alice didn't do it because pneumatic train carriage brakes engage automatically if the pneumatic brake line is severed. You can actually see the sparks flying and glowing at the end of this video when they breach the aquarium car and it falls apart. But yet, this didn't come to a full stop. This is because Big Alice must have filled up the pneumatic lines and also powered the whole car. Also what the previous commenter said about bogie motors is probably true (not explained exactly in the series and unlike the rest of my explanation , this part doesn't exactly line up with real trains) . So there are EMU cars with their own motors, which Snowpiercer does employ to a degree since they have "bogie motors" all around, but for that to work, Big Alice needed to be able to send power (either hydrogen or electric, or electric + water) towards the train carriages. So yes, Big Alice was powering the train from the moment Snowpiercer decoupled, but possibly even before it. Those nice speed increases for the uphill drives as well as the increased room temperature inside Big Alice carriages (see, they "know life below zero" but judging by their clothes, they are not below zero anymore) these things all suggest that the two engines powered the train once they merged, it was just not remote-controllable from either engine, as Melanie disabled that feature "manually". Pretty brilliant series, they really did their digging to train technology and paid attention to all the small details. I enjoyed it and I hope it answers your questions!
