Snowplowing is easy money!

I cut way back on my snowplowing this year so yes, for me it is easy but it can be a real nightmare at times. Trust me on that one, I have stories. This was supposed to be a big storm but it didn't materialize so it was even easier. Snow removal, salting, and hauling can be a lucrative winter business with the right accounts, equipment, and employees but you really need to know what you are doing.

I worked up in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska for two winters and agree with you about it being a lot harder to work in the cold weather. I've been out in 60*F below zero and 40-50 mph winds on the drilling rigs in the Beaufort Sea on the offshore islands. I drove out to them in an Oshkosh tractor and bulk trailer hauling 660 cu. ft. of dry cement each trip. I was driving for Halliburton Services. It was a great job.

13:50 I had a giant Snow Dogg vplow and at a reserve center I did the snow removal, I could pull up to the side walks along the parking lot, straighten my plow and drop it and back drag the side walks off. Then come through and push the snow away from the side walks and go on with the rest of the lot. That was a pretty cool gig at that particular place. Had a trailer setup there with a snow blower and salt spreader and salt. Of all the places to plow, that was my favorite.

Great to see the good work. Fab to see Bugs back. Having spent 30 years on 24/7 shifts it still amazes me the number of people who just wake up and find that work like the roads being gritted / cleared etc and carry on without regard to people and effort required to work overnight and don’t understand the impact that it has on your body etc. We’re lucky in the UK that we don’t often get much deep snow despite being further North than much of the USA (jet stream helps in this regard) and our highways authorities pre grit primary and secondary level routes though often leave side roads and tertiary level routes untreated.

That bobcat really plows nicely. I'm not exactly sure how you can just drive it on the road but I guess anything goes in a storm. There are these guys in Vermont who run a John Deere tractor with a monster snowblower on it. It's a nice service that some people will pay more for to keep a blade off their driveways. And also doesn't make snowbanks It's a pretty neat concept.

Hello Ryan, Glad to see some coin coming your way! The big yellow plow on the Bobcat is super cool. Heated cab, hydraulics, what more could you want? The weather people in the central Sierra have been getting a workout this year- almost as much as the plow operators. Guess there has been some snowfall when the ski resorts have to delay opening until they can shovel out the lifts. Saw some snow on a van the other day. That fills my quota of snow for the year. Do not really miss it a bit.

Love your videos and can absolutely relate regarding the weather accuracy, or lack there of. It's a lot of years ago now but I used to plow every season here in Sweden and rarely did they predict the weather well. I mean you still gotta' head out if it's 2-3cm or more but it's nice to be somewhat prepared of what's to come. Do I gotta push the snow further away as it's gonna snow A LOT? Gonna melt away within 2 days? It's always nice to now. Love all your videos - it's not common to put concrete on driveways here in Sweden, usually asphalt, so it's super fun to see you pros get it done.

Maaan that guy wasn't lying about those machines being rough! Looked kinda like a ventrac 3400, i run one in the winter months up here at Boston College. Far from the smoothest ride espically going over curbs. And not nicest cab but it's warm so no complaints there, but it's a workhorse. And between the snow thrower, roller brush, straight and V plow it's killer for sidewalks stadium entrances and tighter spots. Even has a sander that gets thrown on time to time.

Good to see Bugs, not on his hands and knees for once. I'd love to try my hand at ploughing, with good equipment, and I've no problem watching it. Don't find it repetitive at all. The skidsteers are grat machines for that work, let you get right into places and start from the back. Must be much easier than a truck and much more accurate in tight spaces. As long a the heater, wipers and demister all work, I'd be quite happy. I suppose a few lights will help too.😁👍

I have you heard you mention Lafarge cement a few times before in videos. I make neutron sources from californium 252 and have supplied Lafarge with sources to analyze their composites. just thought it was an interesting coincidence. been a sub since May or so and you by far have the best content

Hey Ryan, I am gonna be starting my own Pressure Washing business but I live in Minnesnowta... so its only a seasonal business. I am looking into also starting a snow removal/salting business as well but dont know enough about it. Could you maybe sometime in the future make a video about equipment expenses, how you found your first customers and so on? Would be appreciated greatly! have an amazing New Year!

I actually say this about 20 times a night when I help a guy push snow. This year I don’t even have to run a shovel so it’s super easy money! Hours can be lame but the equipment is nice and heated so I keep showing up
