Exactly dude that’s exactly what it’s doing! And you’re right it shouldn’t be like that, I think that’s what I’d felt over the weeks and why I just kept going for high range as it felt more punchy and like the speed wasn’t costing me torque and if anything giving me extra too 👍🏻! Yeah in real life you’d expect the low range to have bags of torque! But in low on the Tayga it still span all wheels so it’s not right but also if the truck has enough power it still has the torque, but yeah what you say is exactly what’s wrong with it 👍🏻

Captain ___America nah don’t worry dude you’re spot on with what you’re saying 👍🏻! It does feel more like it’s capping the Rev limiter rather than reducing the gear ratios! And apart from the odd exception like the Tayga that has so much power even in the low rev range that it’s fine, but 80-90% of trucks haven’t got the guts to maintain high torque at low revs and it basically renders the off road box useless sometimes compared to the high range! There’s a few select times when an off road gear box is still preferred, but it’s such a tiny percent of my gameplay that I’d rather enjoy the high range and just hack the tiny loss in speed or low range options for the 2 minutes I’ll be in some rough stuff, and I’ll soon make the time back up flying down the road after! Yeah it’s not quite consistent, this truck highlighted it very well which is why I kept it all in for this one but on some trucks you probably wouldn’t really notice or not for a while! Yeah high range should be a beast and in high power trucks like the Navistar, twin steer and Tayga, it’s great but on some trucks it stalls too quick! Although I think they make that a thing otherwise high range really would be the go to gear for everything lol! It’s a brilliant game but there is a few handling tweaks and things they need to iron out and adjust! But we’ll see 👍🏻

Yeah it’s the same story with me really! Well I found the ANK and this gathered dust, then found the Tayga and even the ANK had some garage time lol! I like to mess around so I have no trouble trying at least lol! Yeah early game I did like it, but a day or so after I got the Navistar and yeah that fast became my go to truck! I used it a few times though but then it found the ANK and has partly gathered dust since! And knowing what I know now, yeah, it doesn’t measure up to the better trucks like the Tayga! Yeah it needs the power ratios upped on front, that’s a biggie! It’s more like 20/80 and it needs to be 33/66 really! That would solve a lot of its handling issues at higher speed! Anyway, on to the next beast 👍🏻!

Jason Sayre on roads it’s a beast and hauls cargo with the best of them (although the steering feels a bit too slow for me) so on Michigan maps it can come in handy a lot and has its uses for sure! However when you try stuff like the Tayga, it honestly walks all over this truck in just about every aspect! The Tayga is insanely good though, it doesn’t mean this is bad

Yeah whatever floats your boat mate that’s the nice thing with this game there are different trucks and combos with awd and diffs so everyone’s favourite is different which is good! The Tayga is objectively really good though lol opinions aside it is very capable, when you get it fully upgraded it’s pretty unstoppable really

Yeah I think Michigan would be it’s best region by far and on roads she hauls with the best of them 👍🏻! Alaska and russia though it starts to show it’s flaws! Still a nice truck though!

Good video mate!. I have mixed feelings about the Royal. It’s an amazing upgrade over the Paystar but it does struggle with stability. It was my main truck for the longest time but do now prefer the Tayga and the Voron AE. Great horn btw on the Voron, drinks more than I do though so not ideal for long journeys unless your towing a fuel trailer...

But it’s just got too many little things that let it down sadly! It was very good to me early game and did me proud, but by mid game there’s much better stuff really! I’ve tried all the Vorons and they’re all insanely good really! Oh is there lol I’ll have to check the horns out on them lol thanks 👍🏻! Lol yeah to be honest the Navistar drinks like a fish so I’m just used to making fuel part of my journeys now! I guess those vorons had to have some weakness lol!

I use a sideboard bed add on on mine, it’s still very fast and that extra weight helps with it flipping over I find. That’s with raised suspension too.

So each tire does have different numerical stats based on that Reddit post. I don’t know they decided to give us words instead of the number or at least a bar like the do the rest of the stats. The chain tires fall into the range that they decided was “good” in mud, but all sets of off-road have a better numerical stat.

Just sold mine in disgust. I was doing the Lost Bricks mission in the Drowned Lands. My first idea was to take the Loadstar with crane and a 1 unit trailer. Just one pallet of bricks, how had can it be? That tipped over and couldn't recover itself even when the trailed was disconnected. Sent the Khan Marshall, then the Chevy CK to try to right it, neither could. OK time for the big boys. Brought out the B17 as it can mount a crane and bed and I hadn't used it for a while. Rescued the pallet and followed my intended route towards the sawmill, the lumpen thing tipped over at least three times losing its load each time. Had to bring the Tatarin to right it as the other scouts are too light, and the route was too tight to get a good pull with a second truck. OK, maybe the Loaf would have worked, I didn't try that. Got near the sawmill and headed north on the easy road to circle round to the village drop off, knowing the rocky path is a nightmare for any truck, and the B17 tipped over again. OK, f&ck it, recovered it, stripped it and sold it. I rescued the bricks with the Step, which made it to the village without further incident. For me the B17 has too many drawbacks to be fun. No diff lock at all (it's the only truck in the offroad category that doesn't) and too top heavy. It tips over if the driver sneezes. Plenty of other trucks I haven't tried yet, no need to keep this one when I might use it by mistake.

So ive got the update, and my biggest bugbare has been sorted. They have fixed the steering!! It used to be no matter how far u pushed the stick, even slightly, the steering would go to full lock. Now the steering matches how far u push the stick! Still not fixed headlights showing wen lit, but i dont often drive at night anyway.

Would you consider doing an Azov 42-20 review? My first impression of it was terrible. However, after taking it back to Michigan and Alaska I've changed my mind. I'm interested to know what you think about it. I thinks it quite odd to make the last level unlock not suitable for Russia.

I will definitely do it at some point dude but if I’m honest it most likely won’t be in the next week or so but I will get to it! Personally when I tried it I really didn’t like it, the steering felt really twitchy and off road it probably doesn’t matter as much but trying to go down just a straight road I couldn’t keep it in a straight line at all, and I drove the CAT 745c just after and that felt way better! I didn’t give it hours though and yeah when I’ve got the money to buy it back again I’ll definitely take it through the tests and do a review on it 👍🏻

@@itsmrlonewolf It took me a solid hour to get used to the steering on the 42-20. It took quite a while to grow on me. Its not as stable and offroad capable as the 745c, but it is comparable. You get better 2 slot frame options and you can attach trailers. I did a 6 slot cargo run through pretty rough terrain in Michigan and it did quite well. You basically trade off the sheer offroad capability of the 745c and gain more utility at the additional cost of stability. That said you can fit the 42-20 through the narrow path into The Rift because of the more narrow wheel base.

What in your experience is the best tree destroyer with a small runup, seeing as trucks like the BM17 are too light? I guess the power to weight ratio isn't the best metric to go by if you really want to obliterate forests haha. Or at least go with a decently heavy truck that /also/ has a great power to weight ratio. The KOLOBs have the heaviest weight but they're sloooow. It's also interesting to me (and hopefully DLC vehicles could assist) that certain trucks could help remove trees to allow easier access to areas (speedruns?). It's just a pity that destroyed trees respawn when you leave and return to a map. Great video though. I sold my BM17 and I feel justified in doing so haha

I could have swore I replied to this lol but anyway I reckon the best all out tree destroyer is the twin steer and it doesn’t need a crazy run up as it gets into high pretty quick, but the Tayga is probably the best bet if the run up has to be small as it’s got great power so gets up to speed quick and has decent weight to it nice and low down 👍🏻! Yeah I would have thought power to weight meant good power but with this royal it seems like it’s more light, I reckon the Tayga is much more powerful but weighs more so it’s a little bit slower! Yeah that would be cool, and something like a snow plough type thing to knock a load of rocks off some highways etc, although yeah if they spawn back every time then it’ll keep you busy lol! Thanks man I’m glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻, yeah it’s not a rubbish truck but there are better trucks for the same or less money so it’s a good choice to sell really! I don’t use it much at all because it crashes and rolls too much with its speed and slow steering so it was taking me forever to get anywhere and basically following along with a crane the whole way doing rescues every 5 minutes lol! Was fun for a bit but not too long lol

Thanks for the explanation. I think I'll still stick to offroad as it works well for my play style, but it definitely helps to visually see the difference. Was a bit surprising with the trailer. I wonder if the difference is that you uses trailers, while I tend to stick to truck beds as much as possible? I'd be interested to see if you still loses cargo so easily if you put a concrete block on a truck bed instead of a trailer. Maybe for some strange reason cargo is more stable when loaded onto the truck itself versus being loaded onto a trailer? I have no idea why that'd be the case, you'd think a flat would be a flatbed regardless if it's on the frame of the truck or if it's a trailer. But maybe truck beds takes on the characteristics of the truck itself while trailers just has the characteristics of a trailer? Would be something to look into, because my cargo is never that unstable. So I'd really like to know what the difference is between us.

Justin Lynch no worries dude and I promise that wasn’t just aimed at you lol a lot of people have said I might be better off with a low range box in some of these tests so I just wanted to explain what I’ve found with using both, but by all means if you enjoy the low range mate then stick to it, it’s your game so enjoy it how you like 👍🏻! Yeah the trailer bit I did leave in to show you lol and I promise it wasn’t staged and I’m not trying to say I’m right you’re wrong etc, not at all, it was just by chance about half hour after we spoke about it, that happened to me so I figured I’d show it so everyone can at least bare it in mind 👍🏻! But you sound like you take your time better than me lol and with the low range too then you may well be fine and never experience it so yeah stick to your flatbeds dude but maybe one day you’ll see a crazy route and it’s worth knowing it could save the cargo 👍🏻

@@itsmrlonewolf Something I did experience though was the power issue you pointed out, though not on trucks I commonly use. The White Star, Navistar, Tayga, Paystar, Twin-Steer, GMC, etc. They've all had no problem turning the wheels on all powered axles. But there is a certain trophy I'm after, you need to deliver 10 cargo in Russia with the P12. And the P12 is the first truck I've come by that has that power issue where the drive wheels just stall. Honestly I just use the APC to haul that POS around everywhere lol Can't wait until that trophy pops so I can relegate the P12 back to just being a fuel truck. I'm guessing the P12 might be one of those trucks that really needs a engine upgrade.

Justin Lynch yeah to be honest this royal just so happened to highlight it really well which is why I kept it in to explain but certainly there’s plenty of trucks that don’t suffer like this one! I did get the same a bit with the white western star on the same quarry slope but it was very heavy cargo etc! The WWS is my crane truck and it’s been brilliant at that, gets everywhere it needs to! Yeah I’ve not drove the P12 much but I sold it back and I wasn’t overly keen! I even think I had the engine upgrade, it’s better with it but still felt like it needed a bit more personally

@@itsmrlonewolf Yea definitely. You can see in my more recent streams I have a pretty heavy load on it (fuel tank + 4 cargo trailer behind it) and it really can't handle it. Come to any kind of incline and the thing just dies. The P12 certainly no Navistar, that's for damn sure. Plus it's front bumper is awful, has those little steps, kinda like mini ladders that hang down on either side. That's caught me up a lot. It does seem fine enough without a trailer, so for intended purpose of it being a fuel rig it should be fine. But trailers? The P12 got no power to be handling trailers. It's probably one of the most gutless trucks I've driven so far to be honest. Heck just yesterday I brought the GMC and CTL9000 into the rift map for the repair points. Both these 2WD made it to the Rift entrance, and made it to the broken truck under their own. I can say pretty much 100% the P12 would of not made it in there if I didn't have the APC to haul it's gutless behind along. lol That's kinda sad that a massive AWD logging truck like that gets outperformed by start game level highway trucks. lol Honestly to bad the P12 didn't have similar power to the P16. Thing would of been a beast then.

In a race game this truck will be one of the best. But highrange gearbox (with high gear setup or manual shifting gear to increase acceleration) is funny only in Black River or something like this. In other areas you literally destroy suspension, and wheels in a couple of minutes :)

The stock transmission is the best choice for this truck, forget about high gear and low gear, just leave it in auto. When in auto, just go on and off the throttle to reduce the tendency of the wheels to stop turning under load. It is very tippy but I used this truck as my scout vehicle (with the yellow maintenance body on it) and used it to explore all the Alaska maps, the first Russian map, and two of the Michigan maps with this truck.... until I unlocked the tayga...

When you talked about steering, is it just me or do like almost all trucks feel like when I look at the wheels it looks like the truck should steer way more than it actually does? You feel like oh I got this turn, but then you end up doing some 10 point turn because it just doesn't turn as much as the wheels...

Without lockers, it has its limits. Use it to discover the ANK, and after that keep it on road as much as possible.

When I'm not arguing about lockers in a game, I'm installing an LSD and 4.77 in my car!

It's not that specifc wheels stop spinning because of lack of power, an open diff will send power to the wheel with least resistance - so the one that actually has grip will stop. Great video though, very educational 👍

if you dont have diff lock its pretty similar as this car in RL :D so no diff only the wheels that have less friction will spin :P

Anyone know how to actually get the off-road gearbox? I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find it in the game. Also it’s Mr lone wolf, keep up the work, these videos are really fun to watch and are very enjoyable Edit: just fixing some grammatical errors

It’s on Drummond island dude on a little beach near one of the watchtowers, the closest tower to the island lake entrance! If you skip to near the end of the video before this one, called royal location and upgrade locations, then you’ll see the map and route to it etc 👍🏻! Thank you dude I’m glad you’re enjoying them!

The feeling that it's rwd might be because of the diff being open and the weight being all on the front so the power goes the way which has less resistance

Yeah I was surprised about that snorkel! Not heard anyone mention it, I’ll test it later to see if it’s fixed with this patch but yeah not great! I get too attached to them to sell lol but it’ll be gathering dust in the garage again for a while 👍🏻

MrJonas yeah it’s certainly still a capable truck dude and will do just fine on roads and even some off roading! It’s not terrible, it’s just not the best, but not everything can be and I like that they’re not all the same basically 👍🏻

I was expecting to not like this truck, but I was wrong. It's far from the best in the game*, but for how early you get it, it's a great truck and it should actually be the first truck you get instead of the Tayga, here's why: It's easier to get than the Tayga, plus you don't need to drag a fuel and repair trailer to unlock it. Once you have the Royal (which I could reach with the Kodiak and Fleetstar on highway tires), rescuing the Hummer and Tayga are much easier. Plus, it's worth 122,000. Which is enough for the Paystar (which can have all-terrain tires at level 2 like the Tayga) and lots left over. The Royal is lively and fun, excellent on fuel and range, has almost all attatchments and with the UOD2 tires is good for the container contest, although stability is a big problem. As far as the best truck overall, even using the Tayga alot in the early game I think the Voron Grad is better, even without permanent diffs.

Yeah it’s a free vehicle token really as it’s just about the most expensive 👍🏻! I’ll be honest when I drove the P12 it felt a bit underpowered considering the beast it is, on its own it wasn’t so bad but I’m not sure it would just haul like the P16! But see how you go, you can always sell it back if you get the same feeling from it

I dont like the high range gearbox because at 5th gear it's gonna be harder to steer and control and from 6th to 8th gear it's uncontrollable you can't drive it on a street with 6th gear or higher therefore i go with the offroad gearbox with 4 gears

To be honest I don’t think it would be that useful because you can’t even put diff lock on.

Yeah it doesn't do any of the low range gears very well because one wheel will break free and just spin while the others remain still, having a locking diff would prevent that. It's a great truck if you learn it's workarounds.

MmMerrifield yeah if you can find the workarounds it’s still a capable truck! Things like I feel the high range was better because as you say it’s going to break traction without diffs, so I’d rather have more speed with that broken traction to skid my way through sort of! The twin steer is another great truck when you learn it’s ways 👍🏻

Yeah true the option would be nice at least! Although I don’t think it would help! Through thick mud, chained are about the same and this thing doesn’t send enough power to the front to claw through, it just lights the back up and bogs down! It’s a good truck, but there’s much better for off roading hauls 👍🏻

I wish I hadn't downloaded the update today. They've completely f*cked the steering. I turned it off it's so bad. The wheels just insta-centre now and it's horrible.

I’ve just had a go dude and honestly I know it can be annoying as we’ve all just got used to how they all were, but honestly mate just give it a bit of a chance as I actually think in the long run once we’ve all adjusted to it, it’ll make faster travelling more smooth and all sorts! I think not having that was partly what was making this royal so twitchy and annoying to steer at high speed! At first do some off roading as you’ll notice it less anyway and with a bit of time I think you’ll start to come around and see the road driving benefits in particular 👍🏻

Jeff Hughes yeah see how you go dude 👍🏻 it threw me off at first too and for the first hour or so I couldn’t drive to save my life lol, but honestly it feels better now and makes for much left swerving down the road when you’re trying to catch up to the steering all the time
