At 3:30 it’s not a double exposure. It’s a scanning mistake probably a result of the double exposure after. If you look at the negatives you’ll see it.

It’s not the length of the lens that you need to worry about it’s the coverage of the lens. A long lens designed for a 35mm camera will not cover 6x8 no matter what kind of adaptor you use, it would just show up as a circle in the middle of your frame with a bunch of black negative space around it.

The 1/focal length rule for shutter speeds only apply when hand held. On a tripod you can use how over long a shutter speed you need. Using a cable release or self timer is advisable for longer speeds.

I really love your video editing. Everything flows together super well and the close up shots of loading the film are really great. As far as the photos go, Gold 200 really likes a lot of light. Shooting around dawn/dusk is going to be hard to get those warm vibrant colors you’re after with this stock. This film really shines in direct sunlight. The other issue you’re having is putting the light source in the frame which is going to give you glare that lowers the contrast and also saturation hence those nice bright oranges you see aren’t coming through. I know this was just a test to see how gold looks in this condition but I think next time you shoot in this kind of light/scenery ektar would really pop and give you that feel you’re after.

The tonal problems are probably a mixture of using a cheaper film stock and possibly poor lab scans. I have no idea how experienced you are with film so please forgive me if you already know this, but Portra 400 is a great film stock that I think you would get better results out of. Ektar 100 is also known for landscapes, along with Provia 100 and Velvia 100.

The shot at 3:29 which is a "mistake" is actually really cool to me. The way there is a dramatic separation of the blues and the reds, and the way in which the two compositions line up together with the tree coming out of the frame division and putting the electrical pylon in the bottom third. Gives me some ideas I want to play around with!

Hey mate, just wondering if these were shot at box speed? Or self developed, I ask because they seem quite grain-y, even for gold
@teocrawford
@teocrawford 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, this was shot at box speed and development by a lab, however I think the lab isn't really good, considering it's just the lab of a drug store. The strong grain might be caused by the resizing of the photos, because the store only gives me rather low-res digital scans, which I have to upscale to the size of the video🤷🏻‍♂️

@teocrawford
@teocrawford 3 жыл бұрын

Hey man, quick question. I currently have a 12-32mm kit lens which I am thinking of swapping out for the 14-140mm, would you say the latter works well for wide-angle shots, and would it perform well indoors with indoor lighting? I'm trying to find a lens that I can use outdoors for landscape and city photography but also for indoor shooting such as restaurant and cafe promos which requires wide close up shots with minimal lighting (though I got access to a small lighting kit to compensate).

Hello! I actually both those focal lengths for the Panasonic GH5. I love the 14-140 because its great for hikes with its variety. The 12-35 is actually crucial sometimes though it I want to talk to the camera (wider angle) or need the f2.8 as opposed to the slower 14-140. Hope that helps ya
