Starting out at Talbingo the site of the largest Hydro Power Station from the Original Snowy Scheme .
Then Moving on to Tantangara Reservoir which was also part of the original Snowy scheme. But is now to be the upper storage reservoir for the Snowy 2.0 Project.
Then Moving onto to the road joiurney between the 2 reservoirs.
Unfortunately I was unable to get a close up of the lower storage reservoir on the day but I hope you willl still enjoy the video
Thanks for watching

I grew up in and around all the SMA towns. My dad was a draughtsman in his early twenties while it was being constructed and went on to be the head Engineer for the Snowy Scheme in the 80’s. He also served 25 years in the CMF and fought in Vietnam where he was exposed to agent orange, which killed him at the age of 59. So many memories of the Snowy and the magnificent people who built it.

Very informative video. At least hydro and nuclear don’t need the sun or the wind to generate power. Thanks BJD.

Thank you for this video; it brings back a whole heap of great memories. 🙂 For six years (2006 - 2012) I did a run through the Snowies twice a month for work - one week to Cooma, Jindabyne and Guthga and then a fortnight later an overnight run taking in Cabramurra, Khancoban, Talbingo, Tumut, Blowering etc. and all the power stations, pumping stations and ancillary facilities. I absolutely loved it. No matter the time of year, it was always a total pleasure to drive through that region and I really missed it when I retired in 2012. If you have never done a drive through the Snowy Mountains region, you are missing out on one of the truly superb parts of Australia.

I live in the suburb next to Eraring, and it's exciting to see the work going on there to transform it. It's fantastic so much focus has been on converting from non renewables to renewables like the Snowy Hydro.

Thanks for the video. What a beautiful place that is. Sadly I, like many Australians won't live long enough to see Snowy Hydro 2.0 completed.

I'm glad Turnbull had the courage to get this started. Unlike Menzies who did everything he could not to start the original Snowy, and then took all the credit at the opening.

The words Turnbull and courage should never ever be used in the one sentence. The guy is the ultimate twisted loser not to mention the losers pet project estimated by him to cost $2B is headed for $20B. What a joke.

2.0 should never have started. It was raced though so that Turnbull could have a legacy. It was due to be completed 2 years ago, and now there is no end in sight due to environmental factors.
