Snowy January Garden Tour - Peaceful Winter Garden

Join me on this peaceful, early morning snowy January garden tour! Everything looks so pretty covered in snow - and I’m so happy to finally see a decent amount of snow here in zone 7, southern New Jersey. Accompanied by morning birds, I’ll show you 29 shrubs, trees and plants for Winter interest, with some completely covered in snow! But don’t worry: I’ll also show you what they look like in the Summer. Plant names are listed below and included throughout the video.

This video was spellbinding. The things you point out I would never notice- such beauty. I have a holly bush that gives me a lot of joy with all the berries peeking out of the snow. I get scolded by the birds ( they know me) if I’m too slow replacing their peanut bird blocks. Thank you for posting this video, it made me smile. Stay warm.

Thanks for braving the cold to show us your magical winter garden. Just beautiful! We had the bitter cold last week, this week has warmed up, but we also got about 8-10 inches of snow. I love seeing the bird and animal tracks in the garden. Take care and stay warm!

Thanks Susan! 😊 So glad you have warmer temps despite all of that snow! I miss getting that much snow, which I always enjoyed when I lived in New England. Yes, little tracks in the snow are fun to see and follow. I love watching all the different birds in Winter, but they need tiny sweaters and hats! 🧣🥶

Hi Laura. Thank you for sharing this majestic winter view despite the frigid cold 🥶. I was really thankful that we did not get a lot of snow this year. As beautiful as they are… it’s a lot of work for me to have to shovel.

All looks so lovely! My favorite is the combination of the red and yellow twig dogwoods. We got our snow finally and down to 6* a couple of nights last week and the rhodys looked a little shriveled, ice drops on the Red Japanese Maple branches looked like diamonds. Mostly all melted now in the mid thirties and the rhodys are back to normal.

Thanks so much Jean! I love that red and yellow twig combo too -- I stole the idea from a wonderful display I saw years ago at the Philadelphia Flower Show. They showed them with daffodils -- so that's what I recreated! I'm so glad you've warmed back up -- and that the rhodys aren't shriveled up anymore! Stay warm! 💕
