Andrew im getting a 23ft snowyriver van with the enerdrive up grade. They said the battery's are going to be mounted under the front outside and the unit mounted under the seat do you recommend this. ? I'm having 600w of solar on the roof and I'd like to run 400 AH of battery. Should I get the lithium upgrade done now while it's getting built or wait.

Thanks for your comment! We like to keep the batteries as close to the chargers etc as possible, Being such a big outlay we prefer to have them inside the van as they are more secure. As to getting the upgrade done it is easier to get the provisions for a larger system fitted to the caravan during the build if they will, I.e Heavier charge cabling, Solar cabling, space for extra batteries etc.

Hey mate I'm installing the enerdrive dcdc charger in my van I already have one in my canopy on the ute with the ignition wire wired in was just wondering #1 would I need a ignition wire for the van and #2 would my alternator cope with both 40amp chargers (one in the canopy is only doing 30 amp) My ute is a 2019 hilux Cheers Dale 👍

Hi Dale, We would recommend the ignition wire being hooked up on Caravans DCDC to ensure it works with your smart alternator correctly. The factory alternators on the Hiluxes are 80amp, Unfortunately you will be close to its limits between the 2x systems when the batteries require bulk charge. There are upgraded alternators available on the market to help cater for the larger systems, alternatively fixed solar on the canopy is a great way to relieve some load off the alternator. To flip a standard Jayco system to something like this do you know what cost we would be looking at (currently only 1x150amp solar on the roof)

The system in the video is starting at $16k, which includes 400Ah lithium batteries, 2600w inverter, 60 amp AC charger, 40 amp DC to DC charger, a 60 amp solar controller, E-Pro battery monitoring system and 4 x 180w solar panels. We'd have to ensure the existing electrical system in your Jayco is lithium compatible. We are more than happy to have a phone consultation with you or book a time for you to bring your van in store so we can chat about options and do up a quote that suits your needs. Each van, car and canopy is always slightly different and so is every customer's wants and needs. We like to customise the quote to each vehicle/customer. @45 seconds: Help me understand how plugging into 240v shore power can charge the batteries at 60 amps through the AC/DC charger.

We've installed a 60Ah AC charger which allows you to recharge the batteries at 60 amps per hour when plugged into 240v power.
