All the desserts looked really tasty! I'd really like to try Hokkaido ice cream and the amazake seems interesting. And the steamed buns looked a like great snack to warm you up while on your journey. But my favorite dish of this video was the uni don. So much fresh uni on it!

Sea urchin fishy aftertaste is already oxidation. Sea urchin is like oysters, oxidation starts immediately and best only opened when being served. Markets would be perfect for eating sea urchin.

Hokkaido has all my fav food. Not sure if I asked this before, it seems like khan BBQ is good because I seen it often, how did it become so popular?
@JapanbyFood
@JapanbyFood 2 жыл бұрын
This has quite a lot to do with the history actually. In the early 1900s, sheep were used for wool mainly. Over time, there were more sheeps imported to Hokkaido. With more and more sheep, people needed to find different ways to utilize the sheep, not just for the wool, but for consumption too. It was not common to eat mutton or lamb meat as the meat has quite a distinct smell. Genghis Khan was one of the first recipes using mutton meat and eventually became one of Hokkaido's most favorite soul foods.

The UK could have as good seafood as Japan but we allowed the EU to destroy fish stocks, export it all and destroyed the habitats ourselves (particularly oysters and eels).
