Great video, I’m starting to walk on Tuesday, looking forward to it, hopefully the weather will be kind. Rough having to get new shoes during the wa, especially if you have a great choice to choose from! But needs must when the Devil drives. 😊

Hi Guys, I stayed at a holiday cottage in Cannich a few years ago. There’s a pub called the Slaters Arms, they do lovely food. You are too;g to enjoy the next leg of the trail, it’s stunning. The views will distract you both from the foot issues. All the best Dave

Shame to hear about the shoe's, it's a good trail and still dry for you both. Three Hundred and sixty miles is a long way, it's good to be able to follow your progress all that distance. Regards. Andrew.

Shinty is a Scottish game where two teams beat each other with sticks! 😅 It's what ice hockey was originally based on. They play a similar sport in Ireland called Hurling.

Also: I have Plantar Fasciitis in one heel and I'm stretching calves and hamstrings 3 times a day for the last 6 months in an attempt to cure it so I hope it's not that. I use some insoles from a chain of shops called "Shuropody" which are molded to my feet especially to support the instep. These help in terms of comfort. I use the German shoes from Meindl which have been very good and I'm on my second pair now. To think the Roman soldiers walked these trails in simple leather sandals?! Good luck. I'm hoping these problems fade away

One is gorse bush the other is broom. Both in the pea family.

Once into Glen Affric proper the views open up. It’s a beautiful glen, glorious in sunshine and broodingly impressive when the cloud is low. Shoe problems not good though: hope things improve.

@@hikersheepyay! Weather might turn a bit ‘Scottish’ for a few days, but nothing you haven’t coped with before. Cheering for you both of course 👍

I think that the plants without spikes are broom. They are a different species.

If 10 is your US shoe size, this is equivalent to UK size 9. If the shop responded to a request for size 10 and gave you the UK size this would mean the shoes would be US size 11 thus larger than you need? Cotswold outdoor are good for shoe fitting but you will only find the stores in larger towns/cities. Good insoles can help. Also: it is really quite common for one foot to be slightly larger than the other. (I believe if you are right-handed, the left foot will be larger and vice versa) I have this problem and compensate with an extra sock on the smaller foot.

At the end of it all...do you think you'll go back to Altras? I keep going back to them! Altho can manage shorter distances in Topos but for all day everyday for weeks at a time...Altras it is. Fabulous video as always. I love how brutally honest you both are about the ups n downs/the good n bad. Proper fantastic videos these.
@hikersheepАй бұрын
Ill always wear Altras on normal trail but never for CWT. CWT is a different beast.

Ooh. I wouldnt want to be trying new shoes mid trail. Hipe they sort themselves out. Maybe try double socks. Shinty is a game played with what looks like long hockey sticks and a ball. Similar to Irish hurling but with different rules.

Wew didnt want to either but they didnt havethe ones we want. Sigh!

@@hikersheep You might have had better luck getting the bus to Fort William for new shoes but too late now. Two pairs of socks help but not in warm weather.

It could also be Achilles tendinitis, but it sounds like you caught it quick. Hopefully you just strained your tendons without creating real damage. I’ve been fighting Achilles tendinitis for.m about 7 years now and it’s not fun! Good luck!

7 years?? I had it before from dancing. It took 3 months to heal with no dancing at all. How is it taking so long for you?
