Loved binge watching this series of videos Christina. Fantastic achievement, and so well documented of the ups and downs of both the trail and each of your emotions. Hope you both experienced a massive high at the finish, and that it wasn't dulled by the tiredness and sheer exhaustion of your efforts. Loved the honest review of the trail by Ben at the end too which summarized well what we could see he was feeling. Hurry back to the UK you two. Most of the UK is bog free 😊

@Mudanzas Awww thanks for watching!! After this SNT hike, I came back by myself to do the Pennine Way in Oct and Nov 2024 if you haven't seen the videos. And in April - July, 2025 I will be back in the UK to do the Csmbriab Way, Offa's Dyke Path and The Northern Trek. Over 1000 miles. Stay tuned!!

Been binge watching your adventure on CWT, loving the footage and recognise so much of the countryside. Stayed in the Caledonia Hotel in 2016, had an enormous breakfast then headed to Corriehallie and tackled the 6 hills in Fisherfield near Sheneval bothy. Took me 13 hours, finished in the dark at 10.30pm then drove home to Fife.

I'm a bit late coming to this, but it SHOULD ALWAYS BE Cream FIRST, then the Jam - the DEVON (and correct) way!! The Cream is replacing, and spreads like, butter; the jam is then spooned on top and stays in place!. Also....... there is a difference between Cornish (pretend) clotted cream and Devon (proper) clotted cream! Cornish so called clotted cream is little more than thick Double Cream with a horrible scum on top, Devon clotted cream is a proper thick consistency the whole way through. Try and find both, and then do a 'blind' test, I'm quite sure which one will come out on top! You also need to get yourself to the southwest of England; Devon, Dorset and Cornwall are all beautiful Counties
@hikersheep12 күн бұрын
Noted!! Thanks for the info. I will make it there to Southwest England sometime. Ill be in the UK in 95 days or so but Im going to hike in Wales, Pennine Way again and Scotland for this time

Ok. Easiest is to park at Queen Wilhelmina Lodge (its right on the trail at mile 51), and have Dale shuttle you to mile 0. He charged me $50 for shuttle. Then you can hike back to your car 51 miles. The lodge is very nice. I stayed there a few times. If you want to comtinue hiking, then stash resupply in your car and just continue on. Have Dale pick you up wherever.

Haha. I think I have watched videos of you hiking this stretch of the OT three times and you seem like you're hating life with the rocks every time. I know they destroyed my feet when I went through last year. 17:30 My best guess is a stone blacksmithing forge, but I'm not an expert. It definitely looks to have a chimney up the back side and a place to add fuel low in front. If it was for blacksmithing, they probably would have had some kind of opening for billows. 29:10 Wilton Mountain is brutal. I helped with trail maintenance in the Kiamichi valley back in October. My job was weed-whacking with metal grass whip that looks a little like a golf club. You can't use any power or motorized tools in the wilderness areas.
@hikersheepАй бұрын
Lololol....i swear that was my last one. I gotta move on to the more eastern area now
@hikersheepАй бұрын
Oh wowwww....why no powertool allowed? To not disturb the wilderness?
@rungavagairunАй бұрын
@@hikersheep it's part of the wilderness act. They are special all natural areas. I love them because there aren't ATVs zipping around, though it does make trail maintenance more challenging. The OT passes through two wilderness areas; Kiamichi in Oklahoma and Flatside in Arkansas.
