Just nothing fancy but like you said, spacers make dimensions repeatable which is a must for most tongs. Thanks.

This fine gent has blacksmithing down to a science and art. I am thoroughly amazed at it, and the lack of scale on his work too.

That is a great looking tong. Nice work as always Glen. Your tongs, hammers, top tools etc are unmatched in my opinion. I have many of your tools and all look and perform like new. Far superior to other tools on the market. Thank you!

I'd much rather watch you build excellent tongs like this one than make my own inferior version, which of course is why I buy tongs from you!

I genuinely wonder how you come up with the processes for making your tongs. Just the process itself is a work of art. Those are fantastic.
@Edgunsuk
@Edgunsuk 2 ай бұрын
lol he's good love his tongs ( and his hand stands!!) but that process is about 5000 years old ( 3000 bc) its the first ( or second) thing you make as a blacksmith , second if you make the punch to make the holes first !
@TalRohan
@TalRohan 2 ай бұрын
@@Edgunsuk lol too true, its the way he has of using notches and swages to gradually shape everything..I hammer the whole lot on the edge of my anvil which works well enough and has since I was a kid (I still have the first pair I ever made about 45 years ago) but it doesnt have the finesse that Glen gets...theyre super tidy.

@@TalRohan yep prob second best tong maker i have ever seen ( and i was in blacksmithing school with three teachers that were in the worshipful company of blacksmiths , the UKS top guild of smiths) and 60 other smiths ! , the best makes is a UK blacksmith but for the life of me i cant remember his name he is one of the only guys selling tongs commercially that are hand made , at least in the UK .

Let’s face it. Your methods are a bit unique. I have a powerhammer jig that will produce a tong blank in one heat. But I am not a tong maker. I love watching your work to see things that seem beyond my imagination. You just taught me at least three important things. Unique is the point. One must develop a protocol and tooling. Yours are always an awakening. Thanks! Texas!
