Now I see what you mean.. I recently bought the Elite 4 and I love the design and features of the Elite series, am likely to be buying a few more of them. In some ways I like these more than some of their more expensive bags. The Paratex Micro outer material to me seems twice as thick and tough as the Paratex Steelplate used on the Tactical 2 I have.

in the late 70's I bought a" north Face " king tut mummy bag for where I live:) It had 6 inch loft and new polar guard insulation then which kept you warm even wet. it was good down to minus 40 below:) Way to hot unless you were mountain climbing:) I kept it in my vehicle if I broke down in my artic conditions as survival gear. You could have crawled into it and sat it vehicle till help came by staying warm. right now fairbanks is -14 out:) this bag would be alright in are summers here.Good review:) and yes you get what you pay for:)

+40belowful Wow. You're having a heat wave huh?
@40belowful9 жыл бұрын
you can kinda say that as are normal temps in dec/jan are in the -20 to -50 :) Very dangerous to break down in with your car. So hence the survival gear as you can get frostbite or freeze in a hour or less. They taught us artic survival in high school here back in the 60,s/70,s but sadly they do it no more. :)

Very nice sleeping bag, but, I have a military issue mummy bag, very warm, but also Very bulky, even with a compression stuff sack, but, ebay has military surplus sleep system compression sacks, and cheap military surplus patrol bags, here in La the patrol bags can be bought for under 20.00 plus some with shipping, so I think that will suffice for me?
@SurvivalOnPurpose5 жыл бұрын
Cool
@emmarowley10964 жыл бұрын
The only problem with the military surplus sleeping bags are that they need to be laundered and I mean washed at least 3 times if not more before you want to sleep in them, my friend bought 2 Because of the price and I bought one and gave it away after having it washed twice because it still smelled rancid and of stale sweat, it honestly smelt like someone had died in them, and then the cost of the Tech wash etc is just a false economy. I went and bought the Snugpak softie elite 4 and I highly recommend it and the Snugpak range.

Snugpak makes pretty good sleeping bags, too pricey for my blood but if I ever do decide to go after a new bag I've got my eye on the Carinthia bags that most European militaries use these days.

Are you sure it has YKK zippers? I just received the Sotfie 5 and it has tiny cheap zippers that snag. No way I'm trusting this bag in 0 degree weather where the zipper comes apart and I'm freezing my butt off trying to get the tiny zippers back together with shivering wet fingers.
@SurvivalOnPurpose4 жыл бұрын
No I am not sure. Things may have changed in 5 years

@@SurvivalOnPurpose I just did some research and found that you can buy and install a zipper stop that will prevent the bottom from coming apart. Might help with some of the issue.

When it is rated for , say, 14 degrees, does that mean that if the temp, goes down to 14 degrees, you will: stay very warm, just avoid dying from hypothermia, or it will simply be tolerable? Anyone ? I really do not know exactly what this means.

so your saying its good for us Fat people! Good that you can fold the feet up cause I hate wearing my prosthetic leg in the bag. 😆 As for your Metric System here's a hit for us Canadians and British we don't use the system 100% Canadian's Grams up to a pound and then Its standard system but British use Kilos all the way until its fluids like Beer and Gasoline then same in millimetre up to a litre and after a gallon its back to standard. (No one in Britain or anywhere else in the World say 750 millimetre's of beer its still a Pint).

You realize that those people you are talking about is like 99% of all other countries, only The United States, Myanmar, and Liberia have not yet adopted the metric system, some use both, just like all other countries should not adopt english as their primary language but rather learn other languages then their own. Maybe you should try to learn metric system and another language.
