This is such an important conversation to have. Pastor Michael Todd of Transformation church does such a beautiful job of dispelling all the church myths. How boys and girls are just expected to be something but are not taught or given the tools to be this thing. We're taught no sex before marriage but no one tells us why. We're told to cultivate a relationship with Christ but no one teaches what that looks like. So what ends up happening in the church is that we all pretend. We all pretend to be holy. We act like this thing we're expected to be. I urge everyone that is struggling to watch Micheal Todds 'Relationship Goals Part 1" he puts it all into perspective. Where purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable- Myles Munroe

I have found that being a church girl who knows what she wants really makes church guys so uncomfortable to the extent of feeling inadequate. The majority of the church boys I have encountered think like men in the world, they are not preparing themselves for marriage, they want to date for vibes. Therefore, meeting a girl who has prepared herself feels like re te pona. As a church girl I have been guilty of thinking a church boy is my husband the moment he spoke to me lol but now wisdom has me stating my vision and intention to be married without saying You are the one, ra deserveana lol.

"Where you almost have to remove yourself from the culture of church, in order to discover God" This is profound, we get caught up in attending church, but we forget to cultivate a relationship with God. It's as if we are in some kind of routine, every Saturday/Sunday showing up at church, but we don't even talk to Gld

This was a much needed conversation thank you guys❤️ We need to understand that church is not a musiam for perfect people, but it is a hospital for the broken. And in church you will meet many people in different stages of their brokenness and relationship with God. When you go to church looking for a Godly partner, you need to also have the discernment to know where your prospect is in their journey with God and figure out if you will be able to live with them like that. But sometimes people resort to marriage 'in the world' because they don't want to use discernment to hear God for themselves because they themselves are still not able to hear God in a clear way.

I think it's safe to say, before you get to know anybody, get to know God and yourself that way you will know who is right for you based on the principles of God... A true relationship with God will sip into the relationships that surrounds you and we all know that whenever God is in something it prospers no matter what 🤝sounds cliche but it's turth

I absolutely love this!!! Honestly church did breed contempt for me and when I was able to rediscover God, it was by removing the church from the equation. I don't think many elders in the church understand how much they push us away. Churches can breed very toxic environments as well.

Loved this conversation(as usual) and has definitely broadened my perspective. As a Jesus girl, the main issue in terms of dating in the Church is that there are not a lot of single men in the church or if there are, they are not pursuing within the church or they don't know how to make their move(if you get what I mean). It is either they are way too young or older and about to married. But I just had a conversation with myself where I had to remind myself of what I have been fighting for, for 28years of my life, which is a godly family!!!! Not that I am limiting God but I don't want to be put in a predicament where I have to drag someone into a space(church) that they did not choose for themselves initially.Basically I would rather trial and error within the church than outside of the church. We just have to keep pursing Christ for ourselves, keep upholding the standards that He has placed in our lives and trust that God will pull through with a spouse and a marriage that will give Him Glory because at the end of the day that is what this is all about....Him❤️

"There aren't many men and women that come out with their struggles", this convicted me because I am one person who grew up in the church and have so much to share but always felt like it will be "too much". I have dedicated myself to discipling young men and women but here I am being shy about what could potentially help them. Thank you for this

Ooooowie🔥🔥🔥🙌🏾this conversation is so so necessary thank you for having it. As someone who inherited the faith and am working every single day to cultivate an actual relationship with God, today I literally checked myself cause I hadn't been reading the bible consistently as I should cause I had slipped into a depression, I checked myself that right now in this moment I am being an entry level christian instead of a living lifestyle Christian and so with this knowledge I know now that I need to get back into seeking the communication consistently so I can be kept from falling eternally Jude vs 24-25. I think we need to live by standard of the word in this world! Not the standard of the world trying to incorporate the word.

I like the part of being honest about the person you are. I think also for me, as much as I accept that we're not perfect, if the imperfection means dishonesty I take it seriously and I find it difficult to tolerate dishonesty. Moreover, I think certain issues should be dealt with before we enter into relationships, especially for us as Christians. I'd recommend if you're promiscuous, work on that before you enter into a relationship.

I think people should understand that church is not for the "perfect " ... people in the church are still trying to figure themselves and find a good ground... let's give each other that grace and let us grow.. But the problem again comes when you have been in the church for 20 years and you are still not changing ..you are just the same all years in and out 🤧

I loved this conversation but I want to take Phetola’s thoughts on pursuing people in the church and take it further to say rather pursue people who pursue Christ (semantics yes) but it’s important because just cos you see me in the church doesn’t mean my heart is in the right place especially because we do have church goers even in adulthood. Also we deal with a whole lot of optics in the church because we’re all human and don’t always show up as ourselves.
@xolileradebe24982 жыл бұрын
Such a beautiful installment. I literally found myself completing Lerato's sentences. I do feel like we place a high level of expectation for the guys and girls in the church forgetting that the church is a place where imperfect people come together to serve a perfect God and become perfected themselves though that is a continuous journey. As Christians we should yes be conducting ourselves in a manner that represents Christ but sometimes we do fall short of the glory and make mistakes. That's why I loved when sis Phetola said we should give each other grace. Personally I still believe the church is the best place to find a life partner.

Bathong, this was such a good instalment hey. I think the title detoured me from listening but when you're ready to hear something you will listen and it will speak to you. I think these conversations are being had in the church but like Lerato said we are being speaked at and the platform to confess isnt readily available. They are being had with young people but almost when they already in it and have gone too far in. I pray that God will help us to meet people where they are.

Thank you for this conversation. My most sincere thought after listening is I don't think one of the main concerns was covered. I do understand and agree that we need to give each other in the church grace and understanding that we are always growing. There are other people, however, who are not necessarily living double lives but are just choosing to hurt people. Yes, they have a relationship with God and yes we are all growing, but they are just conniving and deceptive. I know it happens with women in the church as well, but it's prevalent among guys in the church where they will be dating multiple women in the church at the same time with no intention of becoming better people. Maybe you said it differently, but I didn't really catch it that some people just are deliberately deceptive even when they know the truth.

As for “then they must date other people” because girls at church have marriage in their minds🤣Oouch but facts. I think this is one thing church girls need to snap out of, and actually tap into wanting to know a person outside of “Marriage”. There is more to a relationship than just marriage whilst still living a Godly life. Maybe if that mindset stops then we will stop having certain expectations on guys at church…My 2cents, I don’t know 🤷🏽♀️

The notion of “in the world”, as a follower of Christ i get what you mean. But the distinction alone is heavy and depicts righteousness by virtue of just being christian. somewhat closes of non believers from even wanting to know this Christ and allows us flawed christians to hide behind that we are not of the world, when we are battling what comes with the flesh. We need to lose all of these religious labels and make easier for non believers to meet the Christ of the Christians and not the christians of the world.

THE MEN IN THE CHURCH. We are supposed to get quality as designed by God. Fruit of the spirit must show up because God worked in us as we embrace salvation through Christ. Ladies make sure you don't only date guys in the church but also those who intentionally allowed Christ to lead them. They must be the " church " with all the potential to bear fruits of the spirit.By the grace of God I became such a man and my wife of 32 years can bear testimony. Ke mohau. It is all grace but we must also be INTENTIONAL to live right and please our commanding officer Jesus.
