Season 2 was actually really good in some parts. Garou vs the Tank Tops was really well-animated, and the final fight between Garou, Genos and Bang was pretty good, although not as great as the first season. Suiryu vs that one monster was also not bad, but of course most people just tend to focus on the bad stuffs and early impressions(ep 1 and 2 had slideshow animations)

The worst offense to me was the sound design, literal CSGO m4a1 sounds as hits, laser like hits instead of metal for Genos machine gun blow. The soundtrack was decent, Garou theme is AWESOME but the reused Boros theme for such a lame centipede didn't fit.

It probably won't unless they completely cut out a considerable chunk of the manga. The monster association arc is simply just too long and not that well paced. Manga fans had been waiting for half a decade for it to finally be finished. They'll probably end it with the Orochi fight unless the season is a split cour with 24 or more eps but even then it feels like there should be at least 12 more episodes on top of that to fully cover the entire arc.

Just leaving a comment to say how much I appreciate your content. I've learnt so much from your videos on a field which I've developed such an infinitely deep interest in over the past year. Regarding this video. I'm hoping Bones will produce s3. For the main reason that they previously produced Mob Psycho and Space dandy, shows which imo easily compare to opm s1 in animation, and thus they have enough connections to potentially hit the bar season 1 set (and mob psycho is now over). Also, they have Yutaka Nakamura.

I'm 99% sure it's not Mappa. I was pretty confident before that Mappa can take the project with Shinichiro Watanabe as director but Lazrus has blown that out. And I highly doubt it's JC staff either, they're already making more anime than Mappa. As for Bones I don't think they're either, they're putting their all in the anime that's releasing on their 25th anniv, MHA movie and s7, sk8. I'm more than confident it's gonna be A-1 pictures 🤓. Or it can be Toei too. I would be pissing blood if it's Pierrot.

Considering the several leaks that a CSM Bomb Girl Arc Movie most surely will air in mid-to-late 2024, it's more unlikely that the team could ever find time to produce such a demanding third season. Seshimo team, at this point, is the JJK/CSM IPs team, which is already quite a burden considering the quality of Nakayama and Goshozono's adaptations + its teams overlap (Kouki, K1ro, Faure, Mitani, Idue, Ligton, Kim, Yamazaki, SHUN, Shimizu, Yajima, Teppei Ito, Kurosaki, Kozuma, Kamiya, Sumin Oh, Taiwei Lu, Tam Lu, I could go on).

My gripe initially with season 2 wasn't so much with the animation. But the storyboard direction and executed timing. Which made scenes feel clumsy in they way they progressed. And how jokes were executed. Sure season 1 had great animation, but I feel like they also had better execution of scenes that didn't need nice animation, as well.

Similar as CSM( I solemnly refuse to believe that CSM was done in 1 year, it's not possible). But the team was there from ep 1 to 12. But for CSM, the Shun Enokido team, Tatsuya Yoshihara team and the main members of the staff were not there during last 4 episodes. And this is the only reason why CSM 'dropped' in quality.

Yes, CSM was dropped, from masterpiece to great which was only last 4 episodes, I would say 3 episodes since Tatsuya Yoshihara's Episode 10 was back with that 1-8 episode character sakuga and really good action, and i doubt that infamous Aki Wonky walk was a mistake, because it wasn't corrected in Bluray, maybe who knows. The only thing that is left in my mouth is Chainsaw Man vs Katana Man round 2 could have been entirely 2D. They had people like Norifumi Kugai, Takashi Tomioka, Hisashi Mori and other members but didn't included them. As again, they had moved to their own projects.

you forget to include a 4th option. right now many new/newish senior animators working on insane shows like jjk and csm as freelancers will probably work on opm s3. My guess is that it will be a joined project again, with mappa, jc staff and studio bones including a joined force of lots of freelance animators from around the world. each studio doing it's specific line of animation. and mappa/ jc staff controlling the staffs around the world. Covid made it possible. So either that or it will be a bust compared to season 1 and maybe better then 2 but it will lose all it's popularity if not option 3 or 4. I know a bunch of artist who have worked in big titles and I am always surprised to see them post their shots of most iconic scenes. like when Mikasa sliced and made 2 yeagerist explode on the roof at the port, that was done by a freelance artist that is co founder of "the line" animation studio. these animators are goats in the freelance industry and i wouldn't be surprised anymore if they did work on opm3.

@thomasffrench3639 there are many flaws which people failed to notice due to the overly flashy coloring and compositing (which look jarring imo) - shit ton of zoom ins, limiter animation scenes, still frames, and there's little to no sakuga. This is probably 2/3 of the show. Actually animated scenes are sometimes very choppy - the character designs are bland and flat. You'd think that the lack of shading and overall detail would make it easier for the animators to work with, but everything looks static as fuck - the digital effects, while good, can be ugly as hell - meh storyboarding - facial expressions look off (problem with the whole first cour) - the nice CGI fell off after episode 6 of the first cour - this is subjective for the most part, but the color palette and compositing are way too bright and flashy, especially for a dark arc. It's Bleach, not a fucking disco room for fuck's sake. Seriously, it looks nothing like Bleach You'd think that after 10 years, and after the creator and studio hyped it up to the moon, and after flaunting that pilot episode getsuga tenshou, the quality would've been good and consistent. But unfortunately it's a slideshow with "pretty", inapt colors

I just hope that it is another all-star line-up of talent and that they are taking ALL THE TIME THEY NEED to deliver an absolute AAA experience. To deliver something that goes above and beyond even the first season. Ideally...this new season would be 26 episodes, divided into a pair of 13 episode cours...bringing the total episodes for the entire series up to 50 episodes. Then, ideally....they would do a movie as the "Finale" of the arc. The end of the Garou arc 100% needs to be on a full-blown feature film level of quality. The next chapter of One Punch Man needs to be 100% Sakuga!

i dont think we're going to see a replication of the incredible manga pages from the end of the human monster (garou) saga. when bones makes a film for MHA they take a year and use most of the resources that should be going to the anime, and the end product has good animation but its never very long.

The problem with season 3 is that there is so much content in the next arc. It's the entire monster association arc which involves garou vs orochi, platinum S, the orochi fusion, and so much more. It is gonna be months and months of animation, not to mention the money it's gonna cost. Now they could just split it up between season 3 and 4, but at that point the arc after the Monster Association arc isn't even gonna be animated for another several years. They're gonna have to make it all in one season WHICH IS GONNA BE A LOT OF FUCKING EPISODES. So I can see why no studio wants to take up the responsibility. At that point just give it to Ufotable, if they can make Demon Slayer look like that, imagine OPM.

@@userK894 idk if bones has a Strong in-house 3d department. But their ''5 sub studios'' dosen't seems to be that stable if I'm not wrong. Wasn't nakamura supposed to work on studio C only? And some of studio B's people also seems to helped with MHA s6. Mappa has its own projects so i don't think so. Bones barely progresses as studio now (until maybe recently). The amount of people that they have in-house for 5 sub studios is kinda low. So they also have to rely on Strong connections of the directors and veterans of the Studio (idk how many APs they have).
