They’re getting close to the real issues. White cap guy said we don’t need more rappers, we need to raise up black people doing things like work a nine to five. He’s almost asking the right questions. Why are those rappers pushed by the labels? Guys praising violence and murder, calling women bitches, n word every other line, drugs drugs drugs. These people are glorified by ghetto culture. George Floyd becomes a hero cuz the media said so. Reality is Floyd was a drug addicted criminal loser who was always gonna die a violent death related to drugs and crime. Race baiters like Al Sharpton, Joy Reid, Barack Obama make millions by telling black people they’re victims. Somehow, they got rich, but tell you the white man is keeping all black people down. Obama made $30 million while he was president. Clinton made $42 million while he was president. They’ve both made many millions more after leaving the White House. Ask the right questions. You’ll soon realize it’s all lies, corruption, and bullshit meant to keep black people poor and dependent on government.

As soon as you define yourself by your race you chain your value to something you personally cannot control. Nobody should carry the burden of representing a whole race. It is an impossible expectation. The white liberals goal to make blacks think they need to be united only hurts them. Whites are in no way united they are split 50/50 on almost every issue.

Greg, thanks for serving in the forces. I hope you got a lot out of your experience, and didnt get injured or anything too badly. I appreciate the people who've kept this country safe. Also, I agree with you about these young men. They are doing a great job, and I love seeing them get a lot of views. This country will get so much better if we can help all of our people in the rougher subcultures get past what's holding them back. Sowell talks about it with whites and blacks, but I feel the Hispanics also have some as well, and probably some other groups that I don't even know about. Overall, I just think it's awesome to see people working to make their lives better, because if they succeed..... they can make their families lives better and their communities better.... those are all wins, for everyone! There is much stuff on TV that makes me feel negative about the future... then I see these guys, and see the truth... there are a lot of good people out there.

So true. Victim mentality is worse than a crutch, it's a cancer. We need to go back to MLK's teachings and focus on the charter of the person not the colour of the person's skin. Universities are segregating campuses based on race and this is seen as "empowering minorities". It's really depressing that we're regressing after all the strides to get past all that garbage. Young people need to put a stop to this because they have the reins.

He's good at explaining economics and what makes schools that have good educational outcomes. One necessary thing cultures do is provides boundaries to behavior. I am a black womam who didn't grow up with black subculture. There isn't one black culture but it's always a stereotype and not indicative of everyone as a whole. How you are raised and where you are from frames that as well. My mom is black, and my father it turns out is biracial. My step-mother, who is white, helped raise me. I lived with my father. They were married in the late 60's. My father expected greatness. There was no victim mentality. I spoke standard English. I loved reading and my vocabulary is vast because I loved literature (especially Russian literature). I am successful and educated. There were no limitations placed in my consciousness and that makes a huge difference. Yet, in college, the black kids wouldn't speak to me because my white step-mother dropped me off and I was deemed--not being black enough. It hurt me deeply but I learned to just be myself and not care what they think. Foundation and mindset are crucial. I don't want other people making excuses for me or apologizing for my bad choices. Personal responsibility has left the building in the US and today's race issues are so skewed it's ridiculous and sometimes scary. I love Thomas Sowell. He exposes the truth and I'm proud these young men see it.

American Black culture from the 40's and 50's was extremely family oriented. It was about creating a good life for yourself and your community through honest hard work and passing a better life on to your children. In the 40's and 50's Black business ownership was the fastest growing out of any group and the Black community was also rising out of poverty faster than any group. It was also heavily Christian and valued manners, moral behavior, and charity towards your community.

I agree. They and others should read 'The Rise and Fall of Violent Crime in America' by criminal justice scholar Barry Latzer, who outlines why old Southern culture is a huge factor in crime although no one likes to admit it because it's politically incorrect (not sure why as culture is not the same as race!). Crime first skyrocketed in various American cities right after the beginning of the 20th century because the southern Italians came in droves and with them, their strong cultural sense of personal 'honor' and propensity to resolve interpersonal conflicts, like disrespect, with violence. Then it happened again when black Americans migrated north, who carried with them, that old Southern culture which shares many similarities to the southern Italian culture, which they absorbed of course through no fault of their own as they were forced to live amongst Southern people for many generations. So they brought that culture to urban cities in the North where they lived in geographical and social isolation, and those cultural values, instead of evolving into something else or dying all together, flourished. Look at the gang violence, kids shooting each other because of stupid stuff like perceived insults to one's manhood or image. It's still happening today. This is exactly what the Italians immigrants used to do way back in the year 1910.

I absolutely loved this video. The conversation and healthy discourse is so refreshing to see. I’m a middle aged white woman, but I can honestly say that having grown up in the 90’s, I walk through life not measuring others by their race whatsoever. The 90’s were the peak of racial equality (in my opinion). Sadly, the divisiveness of the past 10-20 years (which seems to be fuelled by race culture leaders) is only doing disservice the equality that North America had made so many difficult strides to achieve. Regardless of race - whether black or white - our culture as North Americans has always been family, God, hard work, respect for self and others, and to be of service. Those seemed to be the principal cornerstones that I used to recognize amongst ALL races, regardless of class or economical struggles. And those common principles have always been what aligned us as brothers/sisters of this nation. I’d love to see everyone leaning on those tenets once again. Encouraging those tenets, promoting them, inspiring them. It’s a choice we ALL have to make and commit to. Just my two cents. Anyway, thanks for the video guys. Huge fan.

Anyway, as a young white kid coming into being the sixties any thought of racism ended very quickly when I uttered the "N word " in front of my Czech immigrant Grandfather whose slap across my face nearly sent my teeth flying down the street along with the admonishing that WE ALL BLEED RED! An we are ALL loved by God. Incidentally, my Grandfather was a close friend of Willie Thrower, the first Black man to play in the NFL! Well enough of my bloviating! One more thing about education though. I have a friend who went to tech school and became an electrician...he's a multimionnaire now. Who would you rather wire up your house? This is about bull sh.t European culture embodies genocide of Native American people along with theft of their land and valuable resources. Many of the early settlers were slaveholders who beat raped and murdered many of their slaves with no legal recourse. After slavery ended many black Americans who were regarded citizens were still subjected to laws and customs of this country that denied them their rights with indignant treatment. Again European culture is the culture of rape murder and theft to gain their semblance of success. After slavery white culture endured people such as Billy the Kid and Jesse James who were murderers and robbers. After the crime wave of the post Civil War period white culture led to the rise of organized crime dominated by immigrant Irish Italians and Jews and others. We all have heard of the MOB and corrupt judges and politicians who represented a lawless culture. Thomas Sowell’s head is in the sand. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are not race hustlers but advocates who are addressing issues to improve the lives of black Americans. Redlining exists along with disinvestment in black communities such as real estate owned by black Americans being assessed lower than their white counterparts. The justice system is designed to harm blacks more than whites. This list goes on and on!!

As an 81 year old white man reared in segregated south, I must say this is the best , by far, conversation ever on yourtube. These young men present a better generation than their predecesors. Just love to see men using such common sense interpreting real life in this country. I hope they can spread their viewpoint to the other colored men in their generation . Makes me really feel like their is hope for this country after all. Thank you gentlemen for sharing this video for all the world to see. Please continue spreading your message. Also , Thomas Sowell is a true american treasure (patriot) for us all to study and implement his common sense views. Have a great day and continue with your passion in presenting a positive cultural change for your and future generation.

I also think it would do young white Americans some good to watch, listen and seriously discuss these issues too. They may be the newest "victims" in our society because of the pervasive and persuasive mentality that's being pushed in the public schools, social media and power-hungry politicians and their shills. It's fracturing our society, particularly in the young adult age group, and I think the cultural elites with all the money and power like George Soros and his foundation are behind all of this.

@NeilLewis77
@NeilLewis77 Жыл бұрын
@@YaHKaB_WaRYaL_YaSHaRaL Discrimination and Disparities Sowell is correct that intentional racial discrimination (according to Sowell’s classification, Discrimination 1b and 2) at a given juncture - say, racial discrimination by an employer - cannot fully explain Black-White racial disparities in economic outcomes. It does not follow, however, that therefore the remaining racial disparity not explained by acute racial discrimination is not caused by racism in society. Sowell concludes that, for instance, employers and realtors and bankers will make choices about hiring or real estate or loans based on the relevant qualities the individual brings to the table, such as education, credit scores, criminal or eviction history, and so on (this is what he calls Discrimination 1a). People have differences in the quantity and quality of these they can bring to the table, and thus it is perfectly reasonable to find inequalities in economic outcomes. What is not answered by this, however, is why these inequalities would be unevenly distributed by race. It’s certainly not a realtor’s fault that there is a Black-White disparity in credit score, but that difference is not a natural fact of the universe. I and most other social scientists believe that there is inherited inequality from the entire history of American social life that at least in part accounts for why the distribution of these sorts of things are unequal by race. The literature on inherited racial inequalities in sociology, economics, and history is simply massive and cannot be hand-waved away. As it stands, Sowell’s argument on this point is hopelessly endogenous. This argument is also wrapped up with the claim that any government intervention intended to reduce disparities will result in unintended consequences that will most likely make things worse for the people you’re trying to help. This is, in the terms of Albert Hirschman, the “perversity thesis” - the common conservative argument that whatever change you want to implement in society will actually do the opposite of what you want it to do. The reason why this rhetorical move has power is because it seems intuitively true, and sometimes policies do have consequences of this kind. But it simply does not logically follow from the example that some such policies backfired that any such policy inevitably will.

As a white guy that's only culture was christian. I was raised in southern california, i had more brown and black friends then white being where i was raised. one of my greatest memories growing up was hanging out at my black friends Antwon and Ricardo, trying to write songs like Kayce and Jojo. when their moms would come home from work she was so kind, she would treat her kids so well and showed me an example of real love. From an outside perspective, i think black culture in America is love and understanding. When I went to a black church i felt no nervousness, i felt completely accepted. When i was at Antwon and Ricardos house, their mom treated me like one of her own sons....I dont know black culture, but i did experience the love. One Love.

What you experienced is not majority black american culture. as a brazilian what i see about black culture is just self destruction on this big cities, in brazil you only see black people doing this kind of stuff in rio de janeiro and são paulo, in the rest of the country everyone is the same depending on the region, if you are from the northeast you will act like you are from there it does not matter if you are white,black or mixed, when CNN came to brazil and started doing this race shit everyone mocked then and they stopped doing that. they were like " a young black man doing this and that" people were like what the fuck? why it matter if he is black? now they just say a young man... they don't put race on the news anymore because media in brazil don't do that.

Sowell rants against affirmative action while having gotten into Harvard based on affirmative action. He rails against welfare while having had the state pay for both his original career in the military and then paid for his education at Harvard. The problem of course is not Sowell any more than it is with any 'intellectual', the problem is the governments that listen to them and the lack of lobbyists. He constantly talks about the necessity of higher education, although lately what gets shown is the stuff where he tirades against colleges like the one that educated HIM. Without education you don't even stand a CHANCE in a modern technologically advanced society. You will be cleaning up behind somebody or serving somebody the rest of your days. But his remarks about education get lost in the mix. Likewise he thinks that the welfare state should be replaced with a Guaranteed Income Supplement, this is something MOST people accept-its called 'old age security' and social security. The massive bloated bureaucracy he complains about, and yet NO liberal argues for bureaucracy, but for the same thing. A society that makes sure each person can live up to their potential, and help them out when they can't. THOSE things get lost in the mix and instead are non ending conversations about political correctness and terminology. Thats the mark of not living in a democracy, people play NO part in the actual decision making, so you need to pretend that they are playing a part by endless pontificating.

@@mikearchibald744 Where is the evidence that he got into Harvard based on affirmative action? "Welfare" =/= "government paying for stuff". "Welfare" = "government paying for stuff while you give nothing in return". Him being in the military was a trade. He signed a contract that stated that he would do X and the government in return would do Y. "Welfare" is only one way. "against colleges like the one that educated HIM" Gee, it's almost like those institutions have changed since he was in them. "Without education you don't even stand a CHANCE in a modern technologically advanced society." I mean, that was true a millenia ago. The problem is that people seem to think that the only route to "education" is through the university system. "Likewise he thinks that the welfare state should be replaced with a Guaranteed Income Supplement, this is something MOST people accept-its called 'old age security' and social security. " Where has he argued for such? Nevermind that social security is essentially a racket, whereby the money you supposedly "put in" is not worth the same when you are able to "take out".

@@cstgraphpads2091 He was a soldier with only middling marks as he admitted. He got into Harvard, you do the math. Welfare is government doing shit IT DOESN"T NEED TO DO. A military is exactly that, in every war soldiers are brought on board and quickly trained and sent to war. There are countries with almost no military, one of which is now been fighting a major power for a year without one, and there are militaries that are essentially not in use, like Switzerland or Norway. So thats the welfare state. Soldiers are trained for jobs that for the most part don't exist and WON"T exist, unless the state puts them into action, thats why early american libertarians were even against STATE rights becaues they said permanent militaries are the first sign of the welfare state. Just becaues a country keeps starting wars doesn't change that fact, actually it proves it. So what you call 'productive' is irrelevant. A single mother raising a child to YOU might not be 'productive', which is ironic because conservatives complain so much that women should at least be able to stay home with the children. But if there is no husband, suddenly that function is 'not productive'. Sowell keeps on about these MOSTLY fictional 'just lazy people' who are supposedly collecting welfare while doing nothing, ironically the society has no problem using government to throw money at the owners of Raytheon, the owners of which have NEVER done any work for decades. NOW the value of education is WAY beyond what it was in the past. The surest way to stay in poverty is to only have a high school education. You think you are going to be a doctor or engineer by saying "hey, I've read all the textbooks in my spare time at home". Good luck with that. You can learn a TRADE without college, but that puts you at the mercy of that trade and essentially dictates where you can live. I know tons of welders, great skill to have but there are no jobs in it here. I see you don't really get the gist of social security, the money you get out is WAY more than the money you put in, just like an RRSP in an institution is way more than what you put in, thats the whole point. Without social security the country would be a full on third world country.
