The group is from Norway. The lead singer and the actress in the video actually ended up dating for a while in real life. This song was a #1 hit in 1985 and the award-winning video is from the same year. The group had many more hits in Norway and Europe but only one more small hit in the USA.

The drawer of the music video, Michael Patterson, made another cartoon, "Commuter" ahead of this video. The scenes from "Commuter" was later used in the music video to the song "Train of Thought" by A-ha. They also used the newspaper team in the video for the song "Manhattan Skyline". The follow up hit to "Take on me" were "The sun always shines on TV". In the beginning of that video you can see how the love story from "Take on me" ends. It's a powerful song, well worth a listen.

I don't know if you noticed but the two men chasing after the lead singer and the girl were from the beginning of the music video. They were the motorcyclists that didn't win the race. The lead singer was the winner. The lady cafe owner thought that the girl stiffed her coffee check and then got upset and crumpled up the comic book and threw it into the trash can. Then the 2 motorcyclists and the lead singer and the girl's worlds collided when the lady cafe owner crumpled up the comic book. When the 2 motorcyclist cornered the protagonists the lead singer helped the girl to escape by opening a hole into her world but the lead singer got struck down by the motorcade's wrench. But he came back to life and succeeded in transitioning to the real world by hitting his body against the walls of the girl's home. And they lived happily ever after. React to their songs The Sun Always Shines On TV and Manhattan Skyline please.

It was that time in the beginning of my teenage years, where we went down to the grocery store, and bought a cartoon with Tarzan, The Phantom, Silver Arrow or Donald Duck. The song and the video tell a lot about dreams, and dreams of love for his partner sometime in the future. Not like today, where it is described on the internet, and the cyber world, but then you created your own dreams, feelings and fantasies for love. But not many people today understand that .. !!!😘

One of their contacts knew the guys from Everly Brothers. Later on each of them got one of Everly Brothers' distinctive guitars as a thank you for the great cover (passing the song to new generations, I guess). Morten uses the guitar quite often performing his own music.

The video looks recent, but what you can do today in a short time on a computer, took much more time with manual methods at the time. I think the video won several prizes for the craft. The video became so iconic that I don't think anybody tried to imitate it directly anyways.

Back then they didn’t have computers or data technology. The te had o act out the scenes and photographs or videos were made nd then stills were taken from the video. Then each still was laid flat and using tracing paper over the still was traced. Everyone of those stills. And then the stills or video were mixed with the the video tape. It was some kind of long process not unlike what Disney was doing for years way back for Cinderella and sleeping beauty.
