Carpro ech2o at 1.20 is really good drying aid Jon. Leaves a nice finish and very little protection 👌

I actually do have a bottle of CarPro Release on my shelf, I got it because I was putting a ceramic coat (Autoglym LifeShine) on a friend's car, and I knew it was going to rain later that day, and I wanted to protect that coating as it dried. It's filmy and a bit oily, but it does finish well, and did protect the coating while it was fresh.
@79blustone3 күн бұрын
Autoglym lifeshine is a hard resin based sealant. It's not a ceramic coating. They used to sell this product at car dealerships at a premium. FYI

I would wager it's the weather Jon. I haven't used the product but this time of year I don't bother with QD or even trying to dry the car due to it. Everything streaks unless you are applying in indoors.
@kuba78754 күн бұрын
Release is designed to protect freshly applied ceramic coating , you would wait 4 hours after coating applications, then topped with release. As you mentioned in the video, carpro has reload in its offer, but reload is not recommended to use on carpro SIC, Gliss or dquartz go 😉 Carpro release is not very durable
@jamr02146 сағат бұрын
This is news to me. I recently coated our 3 vehicles with SIC and did a follow up wash topped with Reload. I've used Reload on all my coated vehicles so I'm curious why it's not recommended.

@benreeve91304 күн бұрын
I think the difference between using this and reload is you have to wait an hour before you apply reload to a freshly coated car whereas release can applied as soon as the coating has been applied, and so the car can be released straight away.
@ForensicDetailing4 күн бұрын
this is great info, assuming its true thats the sort of thing I would like to read on the label.
@LH449854 күн бұрын
No it’s wrong, at least here in Italy CARPRO recommends to wait at least 4 hours after the coating its applied. Honestly I have always used reload, and once by mistake I applied reload 2.0 on some panels before the 60 minutes of curing time, and the coating(UK 3.0) had no problems in the following months.
@rolandm97503 күн бұрын
The directions that come with UK 3.0 say quite clearly you apply Reload *within* 30-60 minutes and if you miss that "window", then you need to wait 24hrs. The US distributor website used to say almost the opposite, that you needed to wait 60 minutes *before* applying Reload, which made it very confusing. They've since changed that to say the same as the official directions. However elsewhere on that website they recommend against using Reload when applying the coating at all!

Way more expensive in the US, $18.99 for 500 ml,.and thats before shipping crazy expensive.Carpro ECH2O is a way better value for a quick detailer. Release I would only use if I was doing ceramic coatings for customers or myself often where I had to release after 4 hours.

I was pretty excited to for this product when it first launched as I thought CarPro was on to something but I’m not sure if I fully trust it yet. Especially when it comes to applying it on a coating 4 hours after application or whatever it recommends when the coating asks for 25 hours of cure time. I haven’t seen much reviews on this product either which I found odd considering CarPro is yet to “Release” a bad product.

That film you mention looks like "Cold air bloom" as we called it in the spray paint industry. The solvent is struggling to flash off in the cold air, could you retry this product in a warm air scenario Jon with a space heater / fan heater ? I'll wager it will perform much better in warmer air. 👍
@ForensicDetailing4 күн бұрын
not sure was pretty warm today about 15 deg. But yes some of the film is just waiting for the water and/or solvents to vape away. but the SI02 ones tend to be a bit more filmy. This was really filmy but it was a nice film, a soft film to pick up with the cloth.

at this price its worth just trying its. I still think it might be a bit filmy. but the film does seem to collect up well with the secondary buff but if you miss a bit with that buff it could show.. so less forgiving perhaps is fair but I love the value of it.

Jon, wondering if you could clear something that I am struggling with. KZbinrs tout the benefits of ceramic sealants and coatings (which I agree with). They test them with chemicals from Ph 2-14, APCs, bug and tar removers, wheel cleaners and other strong chemicals, and the coating stands up. The one thing we are told NEVER EVER do is let Ph neutral soap dry or use in sunlight. Seems a bit disingenuous, don't you think?

Tbh, I think the price is low because they designed it just to be a fresh coating topper and that limits the utility of it. It looks like its just intended as a post-coating / pre-delivery topper like the label says. Its just that people are so used to using those products as drying aids / spray on toppers. Similar to Gyeon Cure. They actually named that one cure, as in topper while fresh coating underneath cures. People still use it as a maintenance sealant.
@ForensicDetailing4 күн бұрын
dunno though in the USA its aligned with other detailers price wise, heres its like half the price.
@tehama43214 күн бұрын
@@ForensicDetailingTrue about the price being higher here. But the label specified post-coating / pre-delivery. I think they're pretty much telling us what it's for and we're reading too much into other things. I think that every question you raised in the video about the product gets answered if it's taken at face value to be a topper for a coating that's curing.

Whatever it’s used for it’s the price of a large Starbucks. Take out the vat and the cost of the bottle, shipping etc. That’s why most 500ml liquids are about the same price as the chemical content is the lowest part of the manufacturing cost. Bargain.

If your using carpro professional you don't put reload or anything on top of the coating until at least 9 months after. Its a stand along product to release the car back to the customer in one day if the vehicle can't stay overnight for the curing time.
@ForensicDetailing4 күн бұрын
thats not my understanding. Reload was there to put ontop of a coating like CQUK after the initial cure period you could top with reload to reduce the risk of water spots embedding into the coating. Wasnt always required if you could keep the car inside for the full cure. But that was part of its main function I think. But would be nice if this was all documented somewhere with the appropriate products.
@autodetailyorks4 күн бұрын
Carpro professional had an updated version around 2022, sure since that, recommend not to top up with reload straight after.
@ForensicDetailing4 күн бұрын
interesting fair play. so since 2022 there was no like topper to fix the water spot issue. maybe that was the driving force for creating this.
@patb52663 күн бұрын
There's no talk of carpro professional here. Release and reload are consumer products, I have both. Release is specifically to protect a new coating. Reload is a stand alone and a booster for coated car..
