These lil' wonders are finally affordable enough to fill your whole house with them. Cut your electric bill & your draw on the oh-so-fragile national electric grid with illumination by way of an excited semiconductor junction....

Been slowly replacing lots of the lights here with that.. the biggest pain in the butt is the kitchen, its like 9 flood lights, I got one of the cheaper ones for the flood lights in the living room and WOW do they screw with HF radio.. so having them there is a no go, but the rest of the house is slowly changing over.

Iridium242 Hadn't heard of that issue, must be a switching power supply thing. Are they on a dimmed circuit? I know you can't use the cheap ones on a dimmer... Would the living room lights be sharing a neutral branch with the circuit your radio rig is powered by? Maybe that could be why they are inducing the interference when others are not... Every new change is going to cause challenges of its own.

The only radio it wiped out was the HF rig, and it shares nothing with the house wiring, it runs completely off my solar backup system.. I think i need to buy the better LED floods because the one I tested was a cheapish walmart one for 11 bucks. Must leak a ton of RF in those cheap ones.

LEDs are really going to be great in a few year. I hate CFL bulbs! My neighbor runs a CFL on his porch and when it is on it created a ton of RF. Really screws up my shortwave.

***** Just out of curiosity; why would you wait until they go out?

Well they draw very little power as well, but didn't know they produced so much RF as fuzzy said. May go ahead and change them out.

***** They still draw twice as much, or more, even though it's far less than an incandescent lamp. I also like the light from them a lot better as well, and no warm-up time.
