From the oil change to the rocky roads and almost a disaster. What a day.
Today's map color - is yellow but that's just a part of the day's ride, from the electric windmills building place. That is very annoying again.

Sooner or later that bolt would have vibrated loose and you would have definitely lost all your oil. You would have noticed when it happened because it would have got all over your back tire . You avoided a huge problem either getting stranded in the middle of nowhere or God forbid you were on the road and had a crash because the oil on your tire and brakes. Glad you caught it man!

HI Nemo. Jim from Madrid, Spain (a New Yorker expat living abroad). Yeah! Amazing rocky terrain, right? The drier the weather in a country, the rockier the trails get (and sandy as well). You'll encounter more of that in some parts of the Spanish and Portuguese TET too. And if you ever wanna go to "The Atlas" in Morocco... better start training your body a couple of years in advance! (I know from experience!). BTW... You look like a tall dude. For guys your size, it's better to put some spacers to raise your handlebars and maybe shift their position a bit forward (away from your body). It usually helps for longer arms as well as when riding standing up to avoid strain in your rists. It's great and a really nice thing from whomever sent you the money so you can sleep in a comfy bed to recover from the hardship of your travels. One question, though. Where does your TET trip end in Portugal? Up North or all the way down to Faro or so? Good luck, Dude! I watch all your videos every time you upload them. Cheers from Sunny Spain! 😁👍😎✌

Hey, Jim, First about the destination of the trip. My goal was at least to touch the land of Portugal with one foot. My ultimate dream was to reach the farthest point of Europe and do that as much as possible via TET, Well, we know that did not work out, cause I had to skip a few parts. Now, I see, that I don't have enough time to reach Portugal via TET, but I will push it anyway. I have a job and I must be back by the first of October, and I'm riding back, plus I have to visit a friend on the way back. So looks like about the 22nd of September I have to turn back, maybe even sooner. So not much time left... I might decide to go on the highways, the last couple of days, and reach Portugal anyway, so I would have on my memories that once I've crossed the Europ from NordKapp Norway to Westpoint Portugal. But I'm not sure. I feel like I'm getting more and more tired every day now. TEt is a freaking beast :D Yes, I'm tall almost 6.4 feet. I just wanted to ride a bike as is and see how it feels for me. Many upgrades are coming for sure during the winter. Cheers from rainy France! :)

Hey man, better get used to stony climbs, you'll encounter plenty at the Spanish TET. I like it no more than you do btw :) Pacing myself on long distance trips was a very useful skill to learn. In the end I opted for slower pace without breaks rather than faster pace with full days of rest. Wow, great job noticing the loose bolt! I once lost my oil gallery bolt like this, and as a result lost 90% of my oil along with the rear brakes before noticing. Since your bike have low oil pressure indicator, I'm sure you'd have avoided the disaster anyway, at least if we're talking about destroyed engine. Though dumping oil under the rear wheel on a twisty tarmac can lead to another type of disaster.

Bonjourno Nemo, that was indeed a rocky road; hard work for sure. You were so lucky to have noticed that loose sump plug; if not, that could have been disaster. Good to get some good rest in a hotel. Regards from Oz....

That stony trails looks hard! At least the weather is good. Good thing you have a good place to sleep and freshen up for next day. Luckily the oil drain plug wasn’t all out, if not you would had a really big problem! Shame of the mechanic guy, bout it could happen to everyone. Maybe one should bring half a liter of oil in the toolkits… Keep riding and see you in the next 😎

The weather helped a lot! What's funny, is that the guy offered me to take the rest of the oil he had left from changing. Just, if I had some space for that. It's easier to buy some if needed than try to carry everything spare. See You In The Next!

About refueling. I remember getting a new Ford Econoliner over 30 years ago. One with two tanks and a total of 160 liter tank. It didn't take long before I ran out of diesel. Embarrassed with a shiny new car, but the button to select the second tank didn't work. It also took forever to fill up that car. Strange vehicle, it used more on the highway at normal speed than in city driving. I remember I was on Easter holiday with some friends. Used 700 liters on that trip, 18 liters per 100 km. 15 liters in city driving. A little more than your motorcycle.
@nemoltu
@nemoltu 10 ай бұрын
😂😂 but when you think 18 litres is not that much even nowadays. My Audi A8 4.2 used 15 litres constantly 😳
@protestagain
@protestagain 10 ай бұрын
@@nemoltu No, 18 liters is not that much, especially for such a large vehicle, but it was that it used more on the country road than in city traffic. Had a MB 420 SEL myself and it used 15 liters on short drives in winter in the city, but only 10 liters on the country road. Also had a 280 SE as a taxi and it used 13 liters in taxi traffic in the city. In fact the same as a Mazda 626 with an automatic

@@nemoltu What we know as the road tax system with a chip in the windscreen, it was developed in Norway and I was hired to do the high speed tests with that car for the Road Directorate in Norway. Set some speed records then on a closed circuit which is difficult to beat with such a large vehicle.
