The reason the song charted so high in Britain is because we will do anything to subvert things. It wasn't the content of the song that people were streaming it for. There's always stiff competition to be the Christmas Number 1, so people just thought it would be funny to try and make the Goblin Song No. 1.

Davina McCall co-hosts a show called Long Lost Family where they help to trace missing people. It wasn't mentioned by name, but it was obviously why she was cast. She has been in Doctor Who before, as the host of Big Brother when the 9th Doctor was on the Game-Station at the end of his series, though we only heard her voice. She was the original host of Big Brother in the UK, from 2000-2010.

I fell in love with Ncuti as the Doctor as soon as he got announced! Been a fan of him being in the show Sex Education and been excited ever since. Got even more excited when I found out he was Scottish!

I agree on the sound of the new sonic screwdrivers, both David’s and Ncuti’s. Am I the kind of person who owns 11 different Sonic screwdrivers and annoys my wife with them daily? Possibly, but she hates the sounds from the 14th Doctors screwdriver more than all the others, especially the hidden modes on the special edition.

A pram is a stroller. The word is derived from the earlier name for them of perambulators. I had a similar experience with Capaldi’s first season. Even though I had watched almost every episode of Doctor Who when it was first broadcast here in the U.K., starting with The keeper of Traken in 1981, I found the first season of Capaldi’s so unenjoyable I stopped watching the show. I was watching another reaction channel, who for me hit the nail on the head as to what was wrong with Capaldi’s first season, and the chibnall era; they both had less of the whimsical nature that tends to be woven into Doctor Who. By Capaldi’s second season they’d dropped the darker ‘anti-hero’ vibe they were going for and I think that’s where it felt like Doctor Who again. His first season also felt like ‘The Clara show guest starring The Doctor’ and I went from liking Clara to actively disliking her. I don’t think that the Danny Pink story element helped either, as you know with Moffat he’s only introducing him to kill him off. Ncuti’s portrayal, and the story, do seem to recapture that mix of light horror and whimsy. Oh, the reason the Goblin song did so well is that the proceeds went to the children in need charity, and charity songs tend to do well in the U.K., especially around Christmas.

I did find out about Mrs. Flood after watching this episode. A surprising amount of reaction channels immediately suspected she was something more when she said TARDIS. For me it felt like it blended into the episode because it’s sort of a soft reboot and there had already been fourth wall breaks throughout. Unfortunately I know that Russell (I believe) has confirmed her character is a “slow burn” as you said. I kinda wish I didn’t know that. But here we are. I also did find out the episodes come out in May, but thank you for letting me know ☺️ In the future please refrain from commenting any possible spoilers (like the one about Mrs. Flood). I am doing my best to avoid spoilers though it’s hard to and it would be a big help to not have any in the comments. Thank you!
