I'm concerned with how much Anthomnia promotes the game, especially when it's clear there's a lot of scummy stuff happening still, like the trailer not even having consistent dragon art. Using old store bought assets, not showcasing actual gameplay. It continues to feel like there's nothing actually /in/ the game. So this video is really nice because it's actually honest.

I usually would never advocate for the failure of a game, but day of dragons *should* have failed. This was an extremely disingenuous project from the start and absolutely nothing surrounding this game is positive. Beawesome games are the worst developers i have ever seen. Their kickstarter was entirely composed of store bought assets, they lied about the game's initial content, they purposefully hid the fact some dragons would still be behind a paywall even tho people literally donated for it during kickstarter, during its launch the game had only 2 lines of original code, they harassed their own community for criticising the game, they IP blocked content creators which goes against Steam's terms of service, false copyright struck said content creators, threatened a lawsuit, advertised DLC before the game even went to steam, stole art and presented them to the community as their original concept art, released "content" which turned out to be even more store bought assets and now this trailer not only looks absolutely awful, they clearly custom-made animations exclusively for this trailer, meaning that the vast majority of this video is by definition, false advertisement. No one should promote such vile, unprofessional, irresponsible, deceiving and purely malicious people under any circumstances. The fact this poor excuse of a game was purchased by 60+ thousand people proves why the gaming industry is in the state that it is, consumers are stupid beyond repair. You want a dragon game? buy Draconia.

I won't claim to be super knowledgeable on the current state of the controversy, but I don't think you are either. The devs have gone on record clearing up the mishandlings and misunderstandings that happened around the kickstarter, and vods of those Q&As can be found here on youtube. And that claim about custom-made animations is patently false. Most of the animations in the trailer are ones that exist in-game. I can't and won't go into a spiel defending them, because I gave up on following that mess of a controversy ages ago, and they may very well be guilty of all that you listed, but I do not believe that these people are malicious. They are comically unprofessional at worst in my opinion. But regardless their game is still leagues better than any current alternative.

I've played the update for the past three days and it's entirely disappointing. Whether or not the 'new' map is the huge one we were supposed to get in the future or not, this concept was not made readily available to a lot of people because in-depth game updates or q&a's are locked behind pay walls. Those of us who don't pay really only get what they post on the community steam page or have to get it from others in-game. The "new" map is just the old map with some tweaks and more trees. There's not as much empty space as there was before, but there are still huge swaths of the map that are completely baren. This lack of forcing people to move around is a damn nightmare on pvp servers because there are only a handful of viable spaces where babies can grow. This means, not only are they easily found, but once they are any babies in the area get obliterated by the dominating clans. Perpetually putting you in growth states because you will NEVER reach adult on your own. I won't bother to go into detail about the absurd balance of the game. Everyone knows it's dogshit. My excitement for the update was pretty much extinguished when only a few days before release they suddenly announced that the "huge" update was now going to have to come in parts because of personal life matters for some of the staff. While this is understandable to a degree, this could easily be mitigated if they would simply hire more people. Considering how much money the game made off Kickstarter, pledges, steams sales, and other revenue streams paying this help should NOT be an issue. The entire issue lies with one person refusing to work with others. Considering even after this update the same glitches are still plaguing the game since day one is proof of that much. I have no hope that these issues will be solved in the subsequent soft releases of the rest of the "huge" update. Speaking of glitches, what extremely little there is to do in the game is being affected. Especially if you really only play on pve servers. That is to breed so you can upstat and get the skins one wants. As of right now, Shadow Scale, Biolumen, and Flame Stalker's skin meshes are just broken. It doesn't matter what skin you actually have, the visual glitch makes it appear that every single one has iconic skins. On top of that, going invisible with the Shadow Scale breaks the wing mesh entirely - making you look like a toddler got a hold of someone's sowing machine and made an absolute mess. Beyond that, have fun playing as an Inferno Ravager at night because their night vision is completely broken. You either deal with it, switch dragons, or mess with the game settings until it's somewhat bearable while you sit through a 4 hour growth cycle with nothing to do a la The Isle Legacy. To be fair, they've stated they will be fixing this, but how soon is the question? Because to reference my earlier comparison, this game has slower updates than The Isle. It would be impressive, if it didn't also upset many of the people who still gave this game a chance after the dust settled of drama from years before. I know my criticisms are being screamed into the void but I wish devs would learn to fix and balance things that are already in the game before adding new stuff. Many of these simulation games fall into the same pitfall. They just want to add more and more creatures to play as. So you waste time growing it and fighting it, only to lose it and grow it again. That's fun for some people but for a game where pve is an option it leaves those people with precious little to actually do. Once you've grown everything, have the best stats, the skin you want, what is there to do? Nest other people in I guess. Dod has such a small community already that model is not sustainable and I believe they need to add something else to the gameplay. Literally anything else would have been nice in this "huge" update. For example, the soft release schedule states that the map will get updates with each release and a weather system. Both of which, while nice, are not something people can interact with anymore than they do now. Beyond that the other updates will be about skin crafting and breeding, which is what the game is all about already if you do not partake in pvp. So nothing really new there. The last update will contain elementals...which is more pvp. So that doesn't do anything for people who do not want to fight someone who's logged 1000 hours, has the best stats in the game and bodies you with just a tenth of their power. Or you know, get jumped by one clan the second you hit juvie for the lolz. I hate to be so negative because despite this stuff, I like the game. I want it to succeed, but the fact that the devs and admins will absolutely ban people for constructive criticism is wild. It's fostered an environment that when unknowing people ask a simple 'why is this like this' they get bombarded by DOD fanboys who will spit an endless stream of excuses. The amount of money made and time that this game has been out to the amount of things that have been done is not really acceptable. If you look into the backstory of the people who made Palworld the comparisons are not even in the same solar system. I'm convinced that multiple people on the DOD team do not have any idea what the hell they're doing. Or, if they do, a key member in the development staff is dragging the entire game down because THEY do not know what they're doing and straight up refuse to learn.

A few clarifications: There is a diving system but it's only on the Acid Spitter Drake so far and is planning to be overhauled in the aquatic update later. The swamp snapper is planned to be playable as a reward for completing a quest. You just can't load in as it. Last I heard it was supposed to be ready for this next update. The model has been complete for over a year now so I would suspect this is still true. The worm is a raid boss and it is complete (though it may need balancing in the future it was pretty op in the tests). The thing in the sand is a desert ai creature that is planned for the desert area. We've known about it for a while. No idea if corpses will spawn. Currently, you can only find corpses if someone made a kill. Not sure what is with the bio dragon in this trailer since it looks better in game and has a sort of shimmer to it to give off the impression of smooth scales and iridescence. To clarify for those not in the know you are able to play as any dlc or kickstarter exclusive creature without getting the dlc or keys. You just can't load in as them and have to be nested, which is the better option anyway because of the game's stat system. On release there will be 6 creatures that you can load in as and 3 that will require nesting. The current map is being remade to be much better and you can find a lot of recent footage of it. They are working on a much bigger map with multiple biomes, but no release date for it yet. Don't quote me on this, but if I remember correctly, they were planning on releasing the new version of the test server desert map (it's not the same as the one from the alpha just similar) for public play just so people had more variety while they wait for the mega map so that may be why they showed the desert off. The game is planned to release on Febuary 17th. Honestly though this trailer isn't good for a number of reasons. It definitely evokes the feeling of a survival game, but it shows off the wrong things and doesn't tell you anything about how the game is actually played. It just seems like fan service for the people already playing. Hopefully we get a better one closer to the 1.0 release.

You present some good information, but this video has mistakes. This trailer is for their big update coming next year, not for the game as it is now, so pointing out which things are and aren't in the current version is pointless. To my knowledge, everything in the trailer except for that weird jump-back animation will be in the game in the coming update. About the map, they are working on a large original map that actually looks pretty decent, but they ran into issues that prevented them from including it in the big update. Think of it like how the isle had to push out an unfinished segment of a map because their planned one wasn't working at the initial evrima launch. To compensate the dod devs are having a bunch of smaller maps that will be interconnected with portals. I don't know if any of them are original, but yes one of them is the storebought desert. These will be placeholder until the "megamap" is done. I agree with your criticisms of the DLC being shown alongside the base content. They should not be treated as part of the default experience, though I do think it's a bit forgiving that DLC dragons can nest in people, making the purchase practically optional.

Also, any game that allows me to play as something similar to a Night Furry, I LOVE!! I do also agree with a bit of leeway when it comes to the DLC and Backer dragons. It's been a long wait and, yeah, poorly advertised and managed, but we are seeing a talented artist making a map from the ground up and larger. Again, this is a NMS situation. People without experience or knowledge of how to control the space, taking on an ambitious and task and advertising BEFORE they had the product to display and are having to provide what they promised later. Better late than never, but that's why Drama needs to settle before you can see any potential.

None of these maps showcased in the trailer are their own: the jungle, the desert and volcanic lands are all creations by MAWI. While DoD uses their assets I was at the very least hoping to see the new maps that they have been claiming that they have been doing to replace the placeholder maps that come with the asset packs when you purchase them. It is unfortunate to see that they used maps that are not even going to be used in the game.

Nitpicking the video a teeny bit 1:07 This creature is indeed something you can see in game, and is actually in game now (But cant interact with it quite yet as it is just a model). The Singe Crest looks like the flying creature from Avatar, the fire wyvern in that trailer had its ignition ability ripped from Monstrous Nightmares from HTTYD, the Blitz Striker is just a Skrill from HTTYD with the legs removed, and the Hybrid Dragon is a Stormcutter from HTTYD. It's hilariously shameless, people only defend it because they're desperate for a game like this.

the trailers video description links to the games steam page where the release date can be found under announcements its scheduled to release on the 17th of feburary 2024. and the developer promises continued support for the game past that point. the current version lacks AI critters aside from some bugs that dont do anything. but that swamp creature looking fella, as well as that carcass are apparently supposed to be some of the new additions that the release version will offer, together with a couple more critters to hunt and be hunted by. though im not sure how many of the critters discussed in the community will make it into the release version. as for the map, it would seem that both forests and deserts are going to be on the same map, the various stages of development that the map has gone through are documented in developer streams and it would appear that these 2 will not be the only biomes that will be included in the map. but the paywalls the devs of this game have erected are really annoying, and although the up and coming map is supposed to be quite large and enjoyable to explore, more than half of the planned dragon species will be unavailable at the start of the game, and will not become permanently unlockable through ingame progression, instead nesting is required for a one time opportunity to play most dragon species, a process that involves cooperation with players who do have that paid content, and would have to be repeated should your dragon die. that host of limitations is really not great. and although many have voiced their complaints about the paywalls i recon they are here to stay. i really hope the game will be fun, there is just not much in terms of dragon games that scratch this itch and given all the controversies the development has seen there is a solid chance that it wont live up to positive expectations, but here is me hoping it will be fun

Seems I will be the one to explain what's happening with some details but not all after all no fun if i tell you everything. The non in game creatures will in fact be in the game, the one that was in the water is called the 'Swamp Snapper' it's said it's gonna be a playable ai once quests are introduced but will be in 1.0. While yes there are some dragons you can't buy in the game or are DLC u can in fact still play as them like he said you can still play as it if you're nested. The elemental or fire meatball as he put it is the rival to all dragons and will in fact be playable[ you have to sacrifice an elder to become one] to survive they have to eat dragons so you will in fact have to hunt other players down. The Sandworm will in fact be a boss that will take multiple ppl or the whole server to beat, once beaten will drop dragon pearls[and yes the pearls do stuff]. The game is still in heavy work in progress and will take many years to complete and after all there is no other game like this at the moment so i look forward to see what they bring. This is for information by the way so i ask for no hate

Honestly with the information that we have been given there is no reason to really play as the elementals: you are forced to stay within a very specific environment with a pool of lava that without you will slowly die. You cannot leave a pool of your element which means you depend on other dragons such as your clan to literally bring other fire dragons to you that you can eat, or you basically just slowly die off due to starvation because you cannot follow your prey to other places.

While you make good points everthing can be exploited even the Sandworm after all you could potentially lead the worm to a rival clan base. With the coming ideas they have for the game it's gonna be difficult for people not to expoit it in pvp. With the elementals they haven't mentioned them not being able to go into other biomes so we would have to see in the future. For the kickstarter dragons the reason you can't buy them anymore is because they explicitly promised after launch no one will be able to buy them again however during holiday give aways they tend to give away keys to rare ingame stuff. I will like to also mention that I know not everyone will agree with the game and that's fine but also that this is a Survival game anything and everything will be most likely exploited to kill your rivals like any other game.

The game comes out on feb 17. the biolumen is meant to look like that, it is mainly a cosmetic dragon. And the swamp snapper is in the game currently, its located in 4 ponds on the little islands in the water. You only have to buy the DLC if you want the emotes. You can be nested in as any dragon as long as it is playable The creature in the desert that the shadow scale came upon is going to be a huntable ai, they stated in the holiday livestream that the dodge back and the hover in air was only added in for the trailer. The sand slayer wyrm will attack players.....it is a boss meant for many players to challenge together, all those who kill it will be rewarded with the sandslayer skin everything in the trailer is coming in 1.0 which is the release date for the game aswell. The trailer was showcasing everything coming in 1.0. The whole trailer was made by each of the devs, so they each played like a dragon or the elemental.

I'm going to be as honest as I can be without regarding anything from the past of this game. As much as I would like DoD to succeed, the fact of the matter is there are just other upcoming Dragon survival games out there that have better assets, a better team behind them, better thought out mechanics and a better art style. I mean, my biggest issue with DoD is the clashing of the art styles, the obvious creative choices taken from other franchises and the sheer amount of pay walls behind certain creatures. That's not even touching gameplay and though I've never partaken in the game myself and instead have watched a variety of content on said game, the gameplay seems to be very difficult and not due to lack of skill from a high skill ceiling but rather because of massive groups or "Clans" of fully grown Dragons that dedicate their entire day to hunting down everyone else in the server to ensure they don't make it to adulthood. To me, there are just better options down the road to spend your money on that will ultimately give you a better experience.

For one, it's similar in concept to The Isle, Dragons and Humans both controllable by AI and players will attempt to survive in a hostile world and against each other. Humans will seek to build massive cities to defend themselves against the Dragons who may wish to pillage them of their resources. The art direction is cohesive, the game in its test streams looks amazing and the team behind it are ten times more dedicated to making it work than the DoD team. On top of all of that, there aren't any weird pay walls for locked content other than perhaps a few skins. Point being, I'd just wait for Wings of Dawn to come out.

So long as a KSers started a bio nest on any server, I can garantee you there will be no shortage of that species unless someone keeps murdering them on that particular server. But a smart player can keep a bio pair in reserve on an unplayed Dod copy and essentially keep the species alive forever on a server if they really wanted. So no, any statement saying it's locked or can NEVER be played is false. Nothing in the game will keep anyone from being whatever they want. Can enjoy the game without spending a single cent on DLC. So just don't and enjoy the content. Easy I also didn't mention the fture singleplayer which will have every species playable no matter if it was a KS dragon or not. Just cuz you have little faith doesn't mean it'll never happen. It's like hearing those boring fear-mongering vids from 4 years ago. No faith and making other people scared to even give any. That helps no game.

day of dragons came a long way from the flop everyone expected it to be. The music and sound design are great, the dino models are pretty cool.. I just wish they hired a better animator because thats the main thing that kills me about this game is how stiff and unnatural the playable creatures all look. They all barely turn their heads when you look, when you actually turn the creature it just pivots in place without a proper natural turning animation where the spine should bend ( common for low budget rookie games but this at the very least was / is not a low budget game ).. i feel like if they got a better animator this game would instantly look SO much more professional hell, this stiffness is even shown clearly in the trailer any time the toothless dragon does anything except for the clearly pre-rendered animated launch backwards, and when the white dragon at the end cannot actually do the pose shown in the poster because it isnt animated dynamically enough to get close to it.. lol

@@halfslycedit’s nothing to do with making them dlc for the sake of it, they have dragons planned, some are planned to be dlc some are not, they make dragons based on what they know how to do, for example the acid spitter was the first dragon they made because it had no wings so would be easier, then the shadow scale, 4 legs just like the acid spitter but with wings, the thing is the acid spitter was always meant to be dlc but it just so happened to be the dragon they were able to make first, they aren’t just making dragons and saying “bah charge them 10 bucks for it!” Plus even then you can still play as the dragons so there is no paywall, having the dlc just lets you spawn in with a low stat one

Most if not all will have crazy things happen in them that are not actual to the game itself. I cant say too much because I know things you do not about the game, but yes the sand dunes you see, are in the game which releases February 17th. Also, The swamp snapper you showed in the game is an ambush predator AI. The Creature the SS is eating in the dunes is called a sand snapper and is absolutely coming to the game. You have a nice following and have built a nice channel. But do more research before you trash a release trailer. Have some mistakes been made along the way for day of dragons. Im sure, but I dont see you trashing Ubisoft or EA for their lack of commitment in making a quality game. or Rockstar for working on grand theft auto 6 since 2014. This small team of people is trying to make a great game and not release hot garbage, unlike some of the dev studios I have mentioned earlier. Just remember, everybody is human.

Of course I agree with your sentiment, and I am absolutely not trashing the game. I simply do not agree with thr way the trailer was handled and the content within it. I believe it to be misleading and rather disingenuous to the way the game actually is right now. @@goldfishmentality I'm sorry but the only thing that this trailer showed that WON'T be in the 1.0 update is just how the movement seems to be looking. A lot of those animations are gonna be in the game (heck they already ARE in the test version), all those models and creatures will be in 1.0, all those sounds, all those locations....outside of the trailer being you know, a trailer and animating movement transitions differently than what they do in game, this wasn't false advertising...it literally showed what a player will experience. Being a dragon, hunting for food, getting attacked by other players, A.i enemies, and the elemental faction being your enemy. At worst, it doesn't show ACTUAL gameplay, but then again, it's a trailer, and a trailer can be movie-like (in this case), or gameplay (which it's not, nor was it advertised). Basically I just think you are blowing this out of the water. Not only with too much worry over something I doubt will happen (no player on Steam will use THIS as a deciding factor to buy it if it's on the Steam store page...no most likely they will look up youtube gameplay vids instead), but because your trust issues are being shown so strongly that you are giving the wrong idea about how to approach a game like this. It was JUST a fun cinamatic trailer the devs had their animation team do because the animation team already has their 1.0 (even 1.1) work done, may as well make sure to keep their hands busy with something fun. So I do appreciate hard work, and I'm typically all about constructive criticism and giving people a break... and although I appreciate all the half-praise and compliments this trailer is getting... it's literally the worst game trailer I have ever seen. I don't watch game trailers often, but of all the ones I've seen this just honestly doesn't even compare. It just really looks so bad. I mean this could've been made 10 years ago and I wouldn't have been surprised by anything, and with the amount of quality and good visuals that are actually in the game I have absolutely no thoughts as to why it looks this horrendous, but this should not have released as it is. It's bringing this arguably bad game down even more than it needs to. I have to ask wtf they were thinking 😭This just doesn't even look passable. The textures on the dragons and the animations and the environments and don't even get me started on the... story? of this trailer? It tells you nothing but the fact that there's at least 4 random ass dragons in this game that seem to be able to fly... and sometimes run?

I've never liked DoD models or dragon designs ngl. Most of them are uninspired, and look somehow cartoonish when it's supposed to be a realistic setting. ESPECIALLY their eyes look HUGE and like something out of a cartoon and not a realistic dragon game

I played this game like 6 months ago and decided to stop playing it for awhile for them to update it, need less to say I checked in a month ago and they still haven't done anything (don't get me wrong I get there could be a small dev team and what not but still)

I think that's fine in a reveal trailer or fundraising campaign, but not in an official trailer. What they advertise is what they should have imo. But i feel you just being along for the ride xD

I'm excited for 1.0 but this trailer does not do it any justice whatsoever, from the pacing to adding things that won't be available to new players that just bought the game as well as the release of the trailer before 1.0 even comes out?? People will buy the game, load into the legacy map and be confused and upset because the trailer was for 1.0. I honestly wish they had hired someone else to create the trailer, one of the content creators they feed exclusive stuff to keep them saying nice things would have done better than that. Just a side note as well but the bio really sticks out like a sore thumb in the graphics department, all shiny and smooth and bright as hell.

Nothing about this game has ever been special or unique. Game had nothing but a terrible map and unoriginal dragons for over a years. I have no problem being patient but this game just sucks and is not waiting for in my opinion
