Excellent video, you really made me think some more about their connections

Elden Ring and Nightreign aren't connected, Nightreign is a separate alternative universe that exists within its own cannon. It's important that people in the lore community make that distinction, otherwise they'll use Nightreign as connected cannon to Elden Ring when in reality it's its own thing. Dark Souls and Nightreign might be connected, Dark Souls and Elden Ring tho? Very unlikely.

I've been saying this since ER released. Most ideas, at their core, are exactly the same as DS's ideas. Hell, the frenzied flame ending is straight out of DS.

If I'm honest, I think that's more to do with Hidetaka Miyazaki having core concepts and themes that he likes to explore even in different games; Frenzy is a concept in Bloodborne too, and the Aging Untouchables are near-identical to Winter Lanterns, also associated with Frenzy. Plus, you have Miyazaki's influences such as Berserk and Lovecraft, which always rear their head no matter the game. So really, I don't think re-use of concepts or similar ideas are necessarily proof of a shared timeline, so much as Miyazaki's groundings and principles which always guide his game design.

Hidetaka Miyazaki once said something that he would no longer take over the Dark Souls series, he would leave it to someone else, he said in an interview.

He is just justifying reusing assets.

ER is a DS1 prequal, set in the ancient time, before the appearance of First Flame, Primordial Serpent and the Lords, but after the Age of Ancient Dragons. Pls see the description of Oolacile township and Way of White Corona.

ER being a sequel to ds1 makes more sense tbh

I don't think that's the case, but even if so, you could just flip these same theories around. The jars *devolved* into Curse Jars, for example.

Yeah, I mean, I made this video in a bit of a hurry and there's probably SO much stuff I missed or forgot or whatever. I put it together for a bit of fun at the end of the day really and if people want to buy into it, sure! But I imagine there are holes a-plenty in these theories 😅

@@TheHobatron there are plenty of connections between elden and dark souls, even with bloodborne and demon's souls too! and while yes there are plenty of holes in these theories, the connections are there too. I think a lot of the hate for the " connected " soulsborne timeline is the fact that vaati made a video about it and stating he does not believe it at all so everyone follows the bandwagon of the same thought process. however i feel things will change once nightreign is released.

@@DustDemonTwilight Yeah, his joint timeline video is one of my favourites and definitely an influence for this one here. I think he's right in that they're not *meant* to be connected, but that doesn't stop us headcanoning it if we want to! I said to someone else who commented, I do think a lot of apparent connections are just the result of common themes Miyazaki draws on; his influences from Berserk and Lovecraft and stuff like that. That, and that each game is meant to be an evolution of the last. But you can argue that these shared themes represent a shared world. If we've got the MCU, what would this be then? The FSU? The Miyazaki-U? 😂
