She played the entire song on the piano, She sang all of the lyrics of the song. She could not sing the "oh-oh oh" at the end of the song because she was clearly very emotional. But the crowd was so supportive and finished it for her. The crowd chanting "Paulina! Paulina! Paulina!" at the end is so good.

Yes, Pau wrote this for Pau. It was never intended to be a The Warning song or public. When last minute the label or producer wanted 2 more tracks Pau gave them this (intro 404 was the other) on the stipulation she would never perform it live. she didn’t even perform it in the studio, she recorded it at home on their famous out of tune piano (you can see the setup in her ‘Creep’ cover video). In addition to ‘Black Holes’ and ‘When I’m Alone’ from this concert you will want to see ‘Revenant’ from Metropolitan theater for a whole band experience (‘Black Holes’ & ‘When I’m Alone’ also have full band versions available. Dany’s guitar in ‘Black Holes’ @ Dakota Bar is magical btw)

The song is reportedly about dealing with panic attacks (and not the death or suicide of someone close to her as some have speculated), but as is the case with many of TW songs, the lyrics are open to interpretation depending on the perspective of the listener. I’m sure someone suffering from depression could identify with these lyrics as well. As hard as they can rock, their ballads (usually sung by Pau) can bring grown men to tears. Subbing for more! 😎👍

Pau is a 5 foot stick of dynamite, a total bad ass behind the drums, but when she showed her vulnerable side, and broke down, the audience felt it, and stepped up to carry her through. That's how devoted the Warning Army is to these girls.

The Pepsi Center concert was probably a highly emotional concert already given it was their 10 Year Anniversary as a band. If you look closely you’ll see a string section behind her. In fact, they accompany the band with Black Holes and their version of Enter Sandman. If you like performances that are experiences, you’ll love everything they do live.

This is one of the many reasons TWA is so loyal. Over the years these young women have allowed us access to their 'private' side that fans rarely get to see. They have treated us as family members and its reciprocated. I do not have any daughters but if I did these three women would be at the top of my list for role models.

So many layers to The Warning. Dany's acoustic song is "When I'm alone". They usually play it as a band but she's solo at 2023 Pepsi Center concert. 15-year old Dany wrote it as an assignment during their 5-week Berklee College of Music boot camp. Dany was home sick, lonely and feeling isolated from the rest of her family & friends. Another TW song that'll tug at your heart.

She had just finished singing another emotional song called BLACK HOLES before this one, which was epic and included a string section. For a group ballad where they all participate, check out REVENANT from their concert at TEATRO METROPOLITAN CDMX LIVE from their KZbin channel. It's beautiful.

For the Error album, the studio requested another song. Pau had written Breathe and agreed to have it on the album if she never had to play it live. That was written into the album contract. The recorded version was not done in a studio, but with Pau playing their slightly out of tune home piano. During the album debut concert (Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 2022 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHjddWeGoM10iM0), they played the album track with no one on stage. Gave me the chills. This may be the only live performance of Breathe ever.

There is an official Lyric video of this and others songs from the last two albums on their channel. Perhaps have a look at the Breath lyric video to get a sense of how the song finishes out. They needed one more song to fill out the ERROR album and she offered this one up (recording it on their family piano at home), but as she said at the start of her performance that putting this song on the album is predicated that she would never sing it live. This was a special concert to celebrate 10 years as a band. So she decided to sing it after all.

Genuine is what describes DPA (Dany, Pau, and Ale) best. You saw Pau's scream of destruction in Evolve (the VMA version is best) but it's something to experience first hand. You can find my video of the Brooklyn encore with Pau's gratitude. She also explains the scream and invites everyone to participate. 🤟⚠️🤘⚡️

If I remember correctly Paulina wrote this after losing a close friend who struggled with depression. I'm here for your journey down The Warning rabbit hole. Btw... they just released a cover of Alanis Morissette 's YOU OUGHTA KNOW from Sirius XM studios. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGLdi3RtZ6yKopYsi=qvs3-dFEHzaRQ6Qn The Villarreal-Velez sisters are amazing songwriters and performers from Mexico who live in Monterrey, San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "QUEEN OF THE MURDER SCENE", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and the fight over her soul. It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI CENTURY BLOOD", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "ESCAPE THE MIND"; and it is amazing. Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group in the fall of 2020. They decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called "MAYDAY" October 8th, 2021. The entire album was released June 24th, 2022: called "ERROR". "Disciple" is my favorite track! Their 4th studio album, KEEP ME FED was released June 28th, 2024. They have released 7 singles: "MORE", "SICK", "HELL YOU CALL A DREAM", "AUTOMATIC SUN", "BURNOUT", "QUE MAS QUIERES", and "SIX FEET DEEP". The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (recording engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English Bilingual school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. Shortly thereafter they got real instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Crazy they are 24, 22 and 19 years old and have already written, arranged, and released #57 original songs. Last September they performed 2 songs at the MTV VMA's. Drummer Paulina writes around 75% of The Warning's songs. Most of her songs begin in rock ballad form; starting with a concept, then chord progression, melody and basic song structure on the piano. She may only have a verse and a chorus when she brings it before her sisters. Together they transpose each instrument's part and "rockify" the song. They complete any lyrics, bridges and any arranging, etc. making changes along the way. A 2/3 approval vote of each instrument's part and each vocal harmony before it becomes a completed song. Paulina has said if not for her sisters, her songs would be different. Both guitarist Daniela and bassist Alejandra write equally great songs; just not as many. Drummer Paulina recently won Drumeo's Rock Drummer of the Year and won Best Up and Coming Artist in Modern Drummer Magazine's recent reader's poll. I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. I had the opportunity to meet with them 3 more times during the 10 shows I attended on their 2022 North American MAYDAY Tour and 2023 ERROR WORLD TOUR. I met them again at Fingerprints Music in Long Beach California for a CD signing on the day their new album KEEP ME FED was released (June 28th, 2024) and the morning after they performed live on the Jimmy Kimmel show. I saw them again in Pomona and Los Angeles with a meet-n-greet October 8th and 9th, 2024. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. Thank you for reacting to my favorite band! 🗣 Welcome to TWA! 👋☺️

@@facethemusic1970 That's a story too many people have repeated. The song is a panic attack set to music. Dany did lose a friend while on tour but Ale has commented that Pau has panic attacks at times during their second interview with Alison Hagendorf when each of them talked about their fears. Note that right after this song she got back on her drums and did Enter Sandman with an accompanying string section. Also, she did write Black Holes at 13 after reading a news article. Again, several people write that she wrote other songs at 13 and I'm sure at least parts of some songs, especially on Escape the Mind, were written when young but that is true for all 3. Several times the ladies have repeated that their songs were not from personal experiences. The first one that wasn't true of was When I'm Alone by Dany followed by Animosity about an actual situation with Pau. The album Keep Me Fed is based more on personal experiences while touring but not the EP nor the 3 previous albums. As a group, Narcisista was based in their personal lives.

Wow, jumped right into the deep end with just your second song from this band, didn't ya? This is the only time she's ever played it live, and will likely never do it again. On top of that, the girls were battling the flu at this concert. These young ladies pour their hearts and souls out onto the stage with more authenticity than I've ever experienced from another band. Paulina (Pau - pronounced Pow) is capable of blowing up a venue with her drums and vocals one minute, then bringing grown men to tears the next. Any time you see her at a piano, be ready to get heavily into your feelings ('Black Holes' and cover of Radiohead's 'Creep'). Same with Daniela (Dany) sitting alone with an acoustic guitar. At this concert, it's when she sings 'When I'm Alone'... Turn on subtitles and set settings to auto translate to English and you'll understand what they say. Dany stops in the middle of her song to talk to the audience so you'll want to read what she's saying. I'm sure someone in the comments already said it, but, I don't believe Pau has ever said specifically what this song is about, but the lore behind it is that she lost a dear friend and wrote this as a way to deal with the despair/depression of dealing with that loss and feeling like she's losing the battle. She recorded it on their home piano and tucked it away, never expecting anyone to hear it. When they needed a final track for their third album, Error, she pulled it out with the condition that she would never have to sing it live. This concert was their 10th Anniversary concert and she decided to go ahead and sing it as a special treat for the sold out crowd of 8,000. There's an after-movie of this concert where you see her sing a line or two back stage to her sisters before the concert and she was pumped up and ready to go "Ahi esta, ahi esta, soy paz'" - There you go, there you go, I'm (at) peace. Pau has never said what prompted her to write this song. Some have speculated that she lost a friend. We don’t really know. What we do know is that it was a “bonus” song on the Error album that she wrote/composed/recorded/mastered by herself on the family piano which is famous for being slightly out of tune.

Pau DID say what the song is about; she revealed it in a chat with fans on Patreon. She said that it's a panic attack set to music. Apparently, she sometimes suffers from pretty severe, prolonged anxiety and panic attacks. The lyrics express her emotional state in the midst of them.

I have to disagree. Reactions are for all tempos. Waiting till later would tell me they’re not as good, which isn’t true. If they’re a band worth listening to and reacting to, then I’ll check out all their stuff. Plus, they were recommended by other The Warning fans.
