There's a common misconception about GH1. HOPOs actually do work. The reason people say they dont is because they were doing it wrong. In GH1, as said in the tutorial, to perform a hammer-on. You must hold down, for example green, and strum it. To hammer-on, in this example lets say red then yellow, you must continue to hold green then combine it with red then yellow to hit the following notes accordingly. We do this sometimes in the later games to make it easier on our fingers. Now Pull-offs also work in GH1. However they work differently than what we do today. As also said in the tutorial for GH1, to play a yellow note followed by red then green. One must hold down all three frets down to start your pull-off. Begin by strumming the yellow note by holding down the green red and yellow frets. Then PULL-OFF the yellow fret to register the red note. Then pull the red fret away to register the green note. This is far to difficult to perform in fast songs so thats why harmonix decided to make it easier by having the notes you play register even after letting go of previous frets. So GH1 HOPOs worked, it just was not efficiant.

damn dude that's a really efficient way to practice curious - try fretting the snake without strumming, or even tapping it. with precision and holding the lower note before releasing the higher note for pull offs, you may be surprised how well the hopos work in gh1.

OMFG I actually just noticed something. There's a blue note that got past in the part after the snake. In the PAL version of the game stuff like that happens and it doesn't break combo. Look carefully at 2:15. You did not actually FC this and I'm dead serious.

TTFAF is hardest in the standard game, and generally really hard to FC because it's long and has multiple sections that are easy to miss. Plus a few strum sections with complex rhythms. Custom songs are often more straightforward strumming wise, but with ho/po patterns at insane speeds which requires clever fingerings and tapping

For Logins pretty much, since GH1s HOPO system sucks ass, you pretty much need to hit HOPOs literally quantized with the beat.
