I'm a huge Ren fan (I love him playing the guitar while singing best) but like his rap/hip hop music as well. I just started listening to Webby's "raw thoughts", Ren referenced Webby's " Raw thoughts" in his song "troubles". Ren filmed that before he flew out to Connecticut to film with Webby. So they had this in the works for a while. I'm enjoying the RT. series and agree with the message. 😎

This mellow alt country/rap genre def isn't my favorite type of music. Gives me Everlast: "What It's Like" vibes. That song was different for its time, and a pretty good joint back in the day, but there were a several other artist who have copy/pasted this same format in the decades since, and it just doesn't work anymore. Two genres that don't really fit together in more than one way, so it becomes novelty over innovation. That said, Ren just has a way of elevating tracks. His choice of flows and cadences are always going to make things interesting, no matter what the song selection is.
