Nice video, as always, Scott. The things I remember most about Maui were the fun turbulence on the landing approach, the surprisingly heavy traffic everywhere I went (it was labor day weekend), and the beautiful drive up to the top of the volcano. I tried to take the road to Hana, but the traffic was so heavy I didn't make the entire trip. Ran out of time. It's not that long of a drive in miles but it can go very slowly.

A Sul lol most Hawaii-stateside traffic these days are on narrowbodies so you better get used to it! Hawaiians’ 767’s were dinosaurs and were gross on the inside. I’d say the A321neo is a big improvement. And besides, at the end of the day there’s no difference in the size of the seat you’re sitting in so it doesn’t matter at all.

Did you, or anyone else who has ridden with Hawaiian airlines, found that they are picky with carry-on dimensions as long as it seems to follow the right dimensions and weight.....as in, they don't actually take out a tape measure and reject it if it's an 1in bigger on one side right? (I know they tend to be more picky with checked luggage?

I totally agree with you! Flying a narrow body across the Pacific or Atlantic for that matter just wrong, not to mention uncomfortable because for a long flight you want room and space to stretch out its a shame that narrow bodys are being used more for these type of routes

Next time come to Kauai. Ok. Glad to see the much-delayed HA A321neo is flying finally. Bummed that there is no IFE since that little IPad is $17 in Economy. Yes, you’re right, boarding HA is like being in Hawaii and I use them whenever possible. I do enjoy your videos. :). HA ordered 787’s...can’t wait to fly nonstop HNL to LHR!!

CoastersBolts there was a big delay in the delivery of the A321neo do to engine issues, but apparently they’re now coming fast and furious. 😉

Yes, it’s back to the 763 (for now). As a matter of fact, this particular flight was the last A321 from SAN to OGG before they switched over. I got lucky! But, it did give me a chance to do a full review of the 767 on the return to SAN a few days later, and that video is coming next.

There was actually a little hook on the back of the tablets that they handed out - so if you want to use your own you’ll have to get a case with a hook on it of some kind.

SANspotter Yeah. Haven’t seen one since these 321Neo jets entered service. It’s a shame, cause Hawaiian’s A330s have real first class with flat-bed seats that were recently retrofitted. Hawaiian’s 767s, while not as impressive, do have much more room than an A321 and don’t have middle seats for most of economy class (same with the A330).

So that’s why the guava juice was making me loopy! 🤪😂 Anyway, yeah, move to SD if you can! Just prepare yourself for a huge increase in the cost of living! If it were me, I’d choose Coronado all day long since it feels like a very laid back beach community. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the most expensive places to live in all of San Diego. Hillcrest is nice too, especially if you are into the arts/cafe scene - it’s a hip area with lots of energy so definitely don’t chose that if you are looking for something more hidden and quiet.

SANspotter cool i used to live in the san Diego county so my grandpa and grandma flue out on British airways to london Heathrow they took a picture of the lovely boeing 747-400 but i used that airport when I traveled I flue southwest to Oakland and some airport in Texas because they dont fly to dfw i flue frontier to Denver then got on a connecting flight to Minneapolis and on the way back from Minneapolis we flue sun country

First class? looks like premium economy. Hawaiian's lie flat first class seats are nice, but cost way too much in miles. Cash prices can be worth it. US based airlines are a joke in terms of hard product.
