I think it’s because the car he’s based off of was designed to be capable of 200+ mph speed and had pretty good aerodynamics even by modern nascar terms, so I think he still had it. Also keep in mind that lightning generally speaking stayed in the top 3 against the next gens, so the king was only doing slightly better compared to lightning, and McQueen likely could have been able to get top 1 at least a few times if it wasn’t for Jackson. And if you say that lightning was the kings version of Jackson storm, no he wasn’t. He was both arrogant and caused his own losses both crew wise and race wise. Jackson was arrogant too but competent and actually had a good crew and race mindset.

@ but in cars 3 before lightning crashed McQueen was behind 3 other next gens and jackson so he wasn’t top 3 and lightning’s performance diminished from cars 2 to cars 3 whereas the king didn’t seem to be any worse than his prime until he retired. Also it’s widely accepted that prime lightning McQueen would have beaten storm so I’m just confused about why the king didn’t seem to get slower as he got older like how lightning did in cars 3

In a real world sports comparison he is an example of a player who isn't as naturally gifted, so uses skill and dirty tactics to make up for the gap in talent. And in the movie it is pretty clear that yea he isn't as fast or as aerodynamic as king and lightning. He has a bad attitude, but I don't think that kept him from winning. Especially in a more individual sport like racing. His team is his pit crew and they get along, his competition are the other racers.

The thing is, he didn’t just always come second to Strip Weathers, because Strip didn’t win every single Piston Cup. Chick just couldn’t beat the racers at the top, whether it was Strip Weathers or whoever won the Cup that year. And since he canonically never beat Weathers a single time, that means that in the years where Weathers didn’t win the Cup, Chick at best placed third.

Also Chick would be winning races on his way to finishing 2nd to Weathers, because it's highly unlikely for a driver that hasn't won a race all year to be placed so high in the championship. That means Chick was good enough to win on his day, but not consistently good enough to beat Weathers for a whole season.

The reason why Chick Hicks is extremely good is because he had plenty a bit of more screen-time and was way more well-written than Jackson Storm and Miles Axlerod. He even had some humorous words to sit through, which cracks me up a lot. Besides, he's one of my favorite Disney villains along with Mother Gothel, Syndrome, Oogie Boogie, Scar, Jafar, Lady Tremaine, Drizella and Anastasia, Lucifer, Ursula, King Candy, The Evil Queen, The Queen of Hearts, Stinky Pete, Darla Sherman, Chef Skinner, Hades, Dr. Facilier, Evil Emperor Zurg, Al McWhiggin, Clayton, Shere Khan, Captain Gantu, Maleficent, and Kron.

1 Thing this video also made me realize is on screen of what we've seen, Sure chick hicks was a bully, and would cause collisions or bump to take out the competition, But He only ever hit King twice, 1 accidently after hitting Lightning, and again when he did the final blow to get past king. I honestly believe he had some respect for King but in the last race it was the idea of being held back in 3rd that made him do that. I don't believe until that point that Chick hicks had ever used that pit maneuver on King. Just because what we see in the film shows him more so trying to stop lightning (The Rookie) from taking his spotlight.

Funny. I too wanted McQueen. At the time, I was embarrassed to buy happy meals, as I was almost 24 years old. Mostly just bought large fries, and that’s it, plenty of food there. Plus, the McNuggets really didn’t taste that good back then, and I was never a fan of the burgers. I know you can buy JUST the toy, but again, almost 24, and looked way younger. I couldn’t pretend I was buying it for my kid, or a significantly younger sibling. Anyway, that year, I did actually try to get happy meals when possible for the Cars toys despite the stigma I felt. I got, and still have, several. The promotion ended, and no McQueen. I was working at Target at the time, and one day, they brought out a shopping cart full of items that needed numbers. There he was! I couldn’t believe it! I even checked to see if it had “McDonald’s” written on the bottom to be certain. I grabbed it, fully knowing that I would be unable to get numbers for this product. He belonged in the lost and found, only it had been several months since the promotion ended, which is why that cart was full. He just sat in there all that time waiting to get a tag to be sold! The kid who lost him would have given up by then. If I put him with the lost and found, he would have been thrown out! Seriously! They don’t donate that stuff! Certainly not a McDonald’s toy! Anyway, I took him home, and put him with the other Radiator Springs residents.

When you think about it, McQueen wasn't too different from Chick at the beginning of the first Cars. He was also egotistical and refused help, even firing his own crew chief. I think chicks would been fine to keep his ruthlessness and aggression on track but kind and considerate off it, and if someone beats him anyways congratulate them. Like how solider can change from goofball nice dude who wont harm fly to one of disciplining, professionalism and ready to kill at tip of hat when its required and appropriate to do so when bullets start flying. Tbis similar mind set when i play racing games i like being friendly yet when irs racing i can get aggressive loved playing defender and enforcer in that need for speed game that used team racing. I would be aggressive in second place aggressive dealing with anyone trying pass while my team mate a runner went far and ast as they can, and if runner isn't in first for what ever reason i temporary take their role to go far and fast as i can tull they catch up and move back into second place to do my role. If his father taught to be aggressive and ruthless but only where it's appropriate could of helped him win. Like berserker there is two modes a rage mode and waiting to rage mode. A on track mode and off track mode

Well he did cheated in the last race and was disqualified from it which lightning has won the final race and chick caused a car crash a big crash of cars causing them to be injured badly and get a repair and I’m not gonna lie chick hick wasn’t always my favorite when I lay eyes on lightning McQueen I started falling in love with the character when I was 3 years old I had t shirts of lightning McQueen and also toys of him when I was younger which I became a huge fan of him which I loved the first cara movie better than the second and third one but to tell you this the first one was legendary because of lightning McQueen has stickers and lightning bolts on the sides of him and he have blue eyes as well that why I love lightning McQueen he was the first car I ever seen so I’m still a lightning McQueen fan from the cars franchise and I even have two pfps of lightning McQueen but human version with red hair and blue eyes and racing uniform which the other pfp of lightning had the same one as this one that I do have right now
