Arirang is one of the most oldest Korean transitional songs in Korea. Arirang is not just any tradition song it's a very typical one to korean people. Dokdo is symbolized as a guardian of korean territory. In this song "hill" means hardship or advisory. Arirang is not a place for an actual hill. Some scholars have said that the arrangement is just a beloved phonetic by Koreans. The term is also referring to Korea itself or a feeling of sadness, Korea suffered a lot of hardship because of Japan's Imperialism in the 18th century. In that time, Koreans sang this arrangement from the sadness from their country and. "Let 's cross this arrangement hill" means let' s overcome our hardship together.
