Welcome to SoHyang's world. Her name has 2 syllables "So" and "Hyang" The H and Y blend together without any vowel sound. So no "Hi" sound in the middle. Hope that helps. Sohyang is the best female vocalist in Korea and one of the best in the world. David Foster put her right up there next to Whitney. She isn't well known in the West apart from being Korean she is also an independent artist, meaning no large label backing. She has turned them all down due to her health and faith. Sohyang sings to being comfort not fame and money and is a cancer survivor, author and an all around inspirational woman. She has been around for decades. :D it just took the West a while to find her, mostly from these type of shows. Sohyang has a lot of content though. She has covers, originals, specials, theatre, Kdrama OST's, duets with other artists, all kinds. This is just one of her top covers. This is her own arrangement, done by her and her team on Immortal Songs 2. This show is a type of celebrity contest that well known Korean singers are invited onto. So it is a contest but not a talent show. She won this particular Immortal Songs show. Sohyang is firstly a gospel singer and has been for over 20 years but she covers a wide range of genres. We all wonder if Sohyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself, with the input of her in-law family and musical assistants, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks five languages: Korean, English, French, Vietnamese and Chinese, as well as reading Greek! Let me catch my breath. OK. She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer at the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in Asia. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. I really must also compliment the choir, orchestra and audio/video production people Sohyang works with. They are all top notch from what I can see and hear, and that is important to note as these are _essential_ elements of any great musical production. Sohyang's is a famous singer in Korea but not a major pop star. She performs in churches, on public and christian TV networks, for benefits, for drama and movie soundtracks and occasionally on these music shows. For more intimate, stripped down performances listen to her songs on "Begin Again Korea" such as "I will always love you", "Misty", "I won't give up" or her own songs or collaborations such as "the Star" or "Freedom" she did with Petra.

She, to me, and to many, is the best female voice on earth. Her technical skills and ability to convey emotion is unsurpassed. And she can sing anything and there are some songs with more of her voice alone. One is 'Misty' from the Begin Again Concerts in Korea. Her rendition of "I Have Nothing" from the DMC Festival, her in a dark blue dress, takes that song to a different level -- perhaps the greatest live performance of that song, including the original (I love Whitney, and she would love So Hyang). I enjoyed your reaction. So Hyang has some of the best live performances in the history of music! BTW, I subscribed. Also, she is a massive 'star' now. She is one of the most reacted to artists on KZbin... but she doesn't care to be famous, only to bring comfort to others with her voice. I am not religious, per say, but So Hyang is extremely devout and one can not help but be moved by her grace and demeanor.
