Hi, In 2018, Oprah Winfrey overheard this performance of Sohyang on KZbin and was so surprised and moved that she told David Foster her story. David Foster made a tremendous effort to meet her after hearing this song of Sohyang and she performed with him in Japan that year in November at his earnest invitation. David Foster, who performed with Sohyang, said the performance with her was the best and was really happy to meet the incredible and fantastic top singer in the world and perform together. We all wonder if So Hyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself (with the input of her musical assistants), teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks four languages. Korean, English, French and Vietnamese. Let me catch my breath. OK. She is a survivor of uterine cancer from the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in South Korea or Japan. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. This was at an outside open venue where kids were running around, people looking at their phones, talking, eating not paying attention. She's not BTS or Black Pink so those unsuspecting audiences carried themselves sans expectations. But as always, she gets into GOD mode and EVERYBODY goes dead silent, God smacked and stunned. At the end with the high falsettos she goes into ALL KILL mode where you see everybody holding their breath as they instinctively know that they're witnessing greatness in the making. Remark the phrase "Stay in my arms" sang three times. The first time she sings it normally without "flicking", second time she flicks it once, and the last time during the breath taking climax she flicks it twice! GENIUS!!!. Sorry to all die hard Whitney fans, I love Whitney too but even with all her diva glamour, soul-fullness and swag, I've not seen any of her LIVE performances of this song where she keeps to the Key, phrasing, nor without her voice crackling. Shame she didn't take better care of her self and voice. RIP Whitney.
