Disclaimer: I just bought the Ezio collection from the Playstation store for $12! A lot of you down here in the comments say that the Ezio collection games, particularly Assassin's Creed 2, is the best one, and honestly, after playing the legendary collection, the impression I got was the older the Assassin's Creed game, the better. So we'll see! Also, I really appreciate all the comments and feedback. It just shows that there are tons of people that have different experiences with these games, and that really says something. Edit: I am most likely going to make a follow-up video for this, responding to the comments and talking about Assassin's Creed 2. I'm about halfway through 2 already and I am really liking it so far. But this will be after another big video that I'm currently working on. Edit 2: 10k views?? This is insane!! Thank you!

the older games are more like 3d platformers when it comes to traversal. so keep that in mind when you inevitably fall off buildings until you master the parkour system in those games. they are incredibly precise and do exactly what you tell it to do wether you want it or not and don't have any system to stop you from doing dumb jumps or just walking off rooftops. it makes the games more frustrating for people who are new to the games or aren't too interested in the parkour. a tip for not jumping off buildings is to not press or hold A/X depending on the controller unless you want to jump or climb up something, because if you hold that button and are at the edge off a builing or something like that it will make ezio jump off in the direction you hold the stick unlike the games you've played up to now. if you want to get down fast its best to platform your way down by just holding R2/RT and find a suitable way down instead of jumping or climbing. also make sure to use the side/back ejects, and ledgegrabs to your advantage and actually parkour up buildings, its way too slow to just climb up and i think you might have more fun doing so. at least i hope you do. all this makes the parkour system deeper, more rewarding and it has both a higher skill seiling and higher skill floor than the later titles. i hope you enjoy the games and i look forward from hearing more of your opinions on the series.

i'd genuinely suggest to try having fun with parkour, if you wanna go from point A to point B, just look around and find the most fun & interesting way/parkour route to go there instead of the most efficient way, thats how u can naturally become good at parkour and appreciate it. because if you are newbie then the most efficient route that u would assume is never the correct assumption, cuz u would be lacking knowledge in terms of what parkour can do until u get somewhat good at it. Also, you can "vertical wall run" as well as fluid "animation cancel" during parkour, so you can use these two together to side eject and reach higher elevation much efficiently. there are side ejects, back ejects, directional wall grabs etc exist btw if you didnt know. i hope this allows you to appreciate the traversal much more. Animus drifter Ropotopolus have great larkour videos on the old gams

I would really play the earlier games. Maybe AC1 will be a bit of a jarring experience because it's so ancient at this point, but the story and atmosphere hold up from AC1 up to Revelations. And with each subsequent game you can really see how they build up and add new features in each one. AC3/AC4 really was the turning point of the series and every release after that didn't ignite the same fire in me as the original 5 games (AC1, AC2, AC:Brotherhood, AC:Revelations, AC3)

As someone who used to like a lot ACs , I found your video pretty interresting because, the collection you played featured a lot of games that for me , an a lot of players, broke the love that we had for the series. I would say that BlackFlag, Rogue and Unity are fun and still has this vibe that the firs ones had(even if Rogue is just black flag with a different skin) but yeah games that came out after started to bore people to death and lost the magic that the series had in the first place. I would recommend if you have the time to play the first one (of course while keeping in mind that it's the game from 2007) and Assassin's Creed 2 (maybe followed by bortherhood) when you see all the upgrades that happenned between the first one and the second one , it make you regret what the series has become.

The one thing that made me quit AC Odyssey was when I lost my tamed Nemian lion. In Odyssey, you can beat animals, and then tame them instead of killing them. I managed to do that with the Nemian lion, one of the legendary animals. But the problem is, pets cannot sneak around, and your pets get untamed everytime you die. It happened to me when I was trying to clear a fort, I died and my Nemian lion got untamed, and died because it was in the middle of a fort with a bunch of enemies. Worse is, unlike other regular animals, I can't just go and tame another one. The Nemian lion is one of the legendary animals. There's only one, it's essentially a boss monster, and once it dies, it stays dead. Caused me to rage quite and I've never picked up the damn game again. And of course, there's another problem, which you've already faced. You can't sneak up and assassinate high level enemies. You can do that in earlier AC games but not in Odyssey. For me, the most fun AC games were Black Flag and Rouge. It's just feels like they give me just the right amount of freedom, but not too much. Which is also why the upcoming Black Flag remake I've heard about worry me so much. Knowing Ubisoft, they're gonna ruin it with all the unnecessary bullshit microtrasactions. Talking about Black Flag again, that's another problem with Odyssey too. In Black Flag and Rogue, naval combat feels awesome. Fighting against multiple ships and then boarding them or sinking them if I choose to is awesome. And just sailing around in the open seas of Black Flag and Rogue in itself just feels nice. Meanwhile in Odyssey, it just feels tedious. Even now, after finishing the entire game, I would just occasionally boot up Black Flag or Rogue and go wild in naval combat, because it's just that fun. I'd never do that with Odyssey, not in a trillion years. Black Flag and Rogue makes you want to sail from place to place. But in Odyssey, once I've unlock fast travel to certain areas, I'd never sail to those areas again. The most fun I've had in Odyssey is with climbing giant penises of those giant god statues. I share your feelings about Black Flag too. It took too long to unlock the naval combat and even longer to unlock the blowpipe, which are the core parts of the gameplay. It took me so long that by the time I unlocked the blowpipe, I'm already used to not having it and just resort to the old means of killing people directly. Meanwhile in Rogue, you unlock them all on the literal first mission(of course in Rogue, it's not a blowpipe but an Air rifle, but they essentially does the exact same thing). Only the grenade launchers take longer to unlock, which I understand, cos they are overpowered af. Just wish Rogue's story was more flashed out and not rushed. Also, imo, Micro-transactions have no place in a full priced game. I understand paid DLC, like Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree, or Black Flag's Freedom Cry, because they add so much more to the game. But there's no place for paid skins and "booster packs" in full priced games like Origins and Odyssey.

I just wanna say that it is refreshing to see people who don't generally like Assassin's Creed play many of the games and give their opinions. I think you are spot on about the first three games. Syndicate is a lot of fun, but there is much to be desired. Rogue, I personally didn't like the execution but the concept was cool. Unity is awesome, and I actually liked the relationship between Arno and Elise as well, but the story is very mid. I think you missed out, though. The first five games are peak Assassin's Creed when it comes to the story, particularly Ezio. The first game isn't on the PS4/PS5 to my knowledge, but I play it on Xbox Series X. I also believe every AC game up until Black Flag is some of the most fun a person can have in third-person open world games. Unlike many others, though, Origins and Odyssey were genuinely fun games to me. The only thing they could have done better is have good parkour. Origins is my favorite game in the series, and I never thought parkour was a must-have for me to enjoy the games. Yeah, it's nice, but I play the games for the settings, protagonists, and mostly combat and stealth. Overall, you have great points discussing these games, and I'm not gonna bash your opinion. I personally agree with you that Edward, being a pirate and not an assassin or templar, made Black Flag a better game for the general audience and because it made him different from previous protagonists. I use that same logic when discussing Alexios/Kassandra. My rankings for the games covered in this video, though, are...... 1. Assassin's Creed Origins 2. Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag 3. Assassin's Creed Odyssey 4. Assassin's Creed Syndicate 5. Assassin's Creed Unity 6. Assassin's Creed Rogue I also think that if you give Mirage a chance, you might enjoy it a good bit. It's not a long game, but it's short, like Rogue and Basim is one of the more interesting protagonists. Not an amazing game but overall a good game. After seeing this video though, I don't think you could make it through Valhalla. I played all of it and while I rate it a solid 7/10, there is no way anyone can play that game unless they love long games. Eivor (male version) js a great character though.

@@debonair-bane1166 Origins was a train wreck. The acting was on point but the screenwritting was missing a lot of details. On top of that, it was the downfall of the gameplay. As for unity, while the parkour is awsome, the stealth was inconsistent (fixed in syndicate), the combat was either too difficult with low level weapons or too easy with top level weapons, one of the perks of getting microtransations in a f*cking singleplayer game. And the story was simply not up tot he standards of none of the games before.

@@DanielSilva-cq6vz origins was the revival the franchise needed. There's a reason it doubled ubisofts sales within 2 weeks of its release. Awesome story, one of the best protagonists the series has seen and an improved combat system. My only issue with it is the absurdly long health bars on some npc's. Not as crazy as odyssey which I don't really consider an ac game along with rogue and valhalla. I agree the story in unity was shit, including all the stories in the dlc's, I think Arno is just a boring character overall but the combat and stealth system has a learning curve to them, but they're still consistent, and the stealth system especially is hands down the best we've had from previous ac games. The game actually encourages you to use covers and smoke bombs everywhere, whereas Ezio, Connor and Edward had ZERO problem just chain killing people making it a very mind numbing experience after a while. Also I love people complaining about microtransactions in a single player game. The game doesn't need you to use them, doesn't encourage this nor makes you reliant on them. I've completed every ac game since without ever once thinking about using microtransactions, I'd judge someone for using them sure, but it doesn't boil my blood and make me hate the game for having shortcuts for lazy gamers 🤣

@@debonair-bane1166 money ≠ Good. The Fast and the furious movies are premium trash (from 5 and 6 onwards) Yet they make bank. I played every single assassins creed game, up until origins, not for trying. I played test versions and was not interested at all. And odyssey and Valhalla moreso, both Odyssey and Valhalla bored me in the first 10 minutes of each respective demo. And the gameplay does not feel good, in other creeds at the very least, the movement felt good on a basic level, but RPG creeds disgust me with how they control. So no, I disregard your point there. The witcherificication of the assassins creed franchise is what killed the games for me and many others, it roping in lowest common denominator suckers doesn't make it good. It feels horrible, combat feels absolute unimpactful, boring and severely lacking any real spectacle (especially when you do the same execution 10 times in a row, zero variety) and you can't assassinate enemies based off an arbitrary level system. Garbage, utterly and absolutely. I'm sorry, but no. When I can generally like every game (except syndicated really but that's cause of the RPG aspects making combat a slog as well, and combat is an emphasis in that game moreso than unity) and the new ones couldn't keep me interested within 10 minutes of actually getting the controls. Assassins creed 2, Brotherhood and revelation still have the best stories in my opinion because you go through Ezios entire life in 3 games. From cheeky young adult trying to avenge his family to the master of the assassins in Italy/Europe to an old man trying to discover some of the orders mysteries. Sure the games still have faults but I think they were the peak. The modern part of the story was always garbage and took you out of the actual good gameplay. Brotherhoods assassins follower mechanic is something I wish they kept and expanded on in later games.
@captainrisky656111 күн бұрын
I feel like AC2 was the peak of the series. It took a good concept & expanded it massively. At the time the parkour was still a relatively fresh mechanic & it was refined from the first game & the prince of Persia games. Then they just started churning out a game a year. While I did enjoy the games that initially followed AC2 none of them had any serious innovation game to game. Aside from the naval stuff in black flag, there's not really anything I want to go back to. The parkour became tedious, so many games have done it & it just isn't a really fun mechanic once the novelty wears off. The combat didn't improve at all until they switched genres. The already kinda convoluted story had no direction after AC3. Then there's the RPG games. Perfectly summed up in this video. Beautiful worlds that are completely handicapped by the necessity to either grind for 100 hours or pay micro transactions. I've played every game in the series except for rogue & mirage. I haven't actually bought one since unity but thankfully consoles still use physical disk's that can be borrowed. I haven't completed one since black flag.

You can get the ezio collection pretty cheap sometimes I got it at $20 or below (I can’t remember but it wasn’t full price that’s for sure) it’s AC 2, brotherhood and revelations and you can get AC3 and the technical DLC liberations, if you get odyssey’s season pass so basically a whole game of content and a full game with even freer DLC. The only game not on PS5 but on Xbox and PC is AC1 but that’s most of the game series. The timeline is real fucked up it should be if I get my times right AC Valhalla, Odyssey, Origins, Mirage, 1, 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, 3, libations, 4, Rouge, Syndicate, Unity and I think the chronicles series up until shadows but yeah it’s a weird mix match of time BS. Also for a “legacy collection” it comes with pretty good games, not the entire franchise but enough to get you somewhat invested.

U got bored pf origins at 23 hours. Wait till u play valhallam I am at 124 hrs play time now in 25 days😂. Also by the way, I have a full DLC dawn of ragnarok left to play. This game has shit ton of side content that is fucking uninteresting

I played all of Valhalla with the exception of the mastery challenges. Dawn of Ragnarok is probably one of my favorite parts of Valhalla. Every time Eivor had visions, I loved the parallels you could see with his Norse interpretations of the Isu lore.
