@@Gwydion_Wolf Providing game play instructions, tutorial videos, etc. Normally, in a video game, there is one way to do something. However, beyond the basics of 'here is how to open a hangar door, etc. etc." the game has a lot of 'tribal knowledge.' This is knowledge that you figure out and share with other players as you play the game. Once a patch rolls around, the a feature's usage becomes ubiquitous in how it is used in the community, and the best way to figure it out is to ask in global how to do something.

For those who may not know. As part of the downloading of the game, there is a recommendation to try and request a mentor for the game. Mentors are players who volunteer to help mentor new people to assist in the learning curve for Star Citizen. I have been fortunate enough to mentor many people on their first time playing to include streamers and other content creators who just wanted to learn the game for their own enjoyment (and to of course make content too). THe community is very supportive for the most part so if you have questions and think a 1 on 1 teaching of the games complexities would better suit you, reach out and ask and we will have no problems assisting you!
@festersmith83527 ай бұрын
I do recommend it be one on one too. Learning in a group will be chaotic. Ask a question in a group of 5, and you'll get 5 different answers in your ears at one time. A group also adds to the possibilities of things to go wrong, and will slow down any meaningful progress into learning it. A group is hard to stay on focus at the task, and often yank new players in many directions at once. Everyone wanting to show you this different cool thing at the same time. Then there is actually getting a chance to talk through all the banter. And a question often needs an answer quickly.
@Luckydog11597 ай бұрын
@@festersmith8352 It's really why I like being a mentor. We can take things at their pace and if they have questions, I can respond immediately to answer without other discourse happening. A lot of it comes down to shadowing me through specific gameplay loops like trading. But the biggest things I teach is the mechanics for basic flight, navigation, vandors, and inventory. I try to at least teach them how to purchase and equip their first full suit of armor (usually Morozov since it's easy to get), a sidearm, primary weapon, ammo, food and drink. After that, I try to introduce them to the wonderful community built tools and websites with a brief overview of what they do and what helps to give a baseline. Most times, I have another session to teach the same person at least twice and the feedback I get from them about my own performance as a mentor has been helpful!

Welcome to the `verse citizen. Keyboard/Mouse is hard in 3rd person because the nose of you ship is chasing the mouse pointer you can't see. Flight sticks and gamepads don't have that issue and are more precise analog controls where keyboard is an all or nothing input. The farther from your crosshair your mouse goes the harder the ship will turn to catch it. This is an FPS game, so they intentionally make it unfriendly to try and play in 3rd person, so combat is fair. A gamepad with dual analog sticks can give you a similar experience to players that fly with dual flight sim sticks. The game's creator only plays on a gamepad usually and the keyboard is just a big button box for things you don't need quick access to on the gamepad's limited buttons. I used to use a HOTAS rig from my flight sim games but now use dual flight sticks from VKB and will never play without them again. If you want to enjoy the 3rd person camera with a mouse: Get your ship stable in first person them don't move the mouse off center and switch to 3rd person camera then hold Z for free look and your mouse can rotate camera without changing ship direction. When on foot in 3rd person camera this same method works too. SC has a couple hundred key binds plus some convenience ones not bound to anything by default. Some pages are dedicated to FPS on foot, some while driving ground vehicles, some for ships, some the cinematic cameras. Left Alt Key accesses one layer of bindings while right alt is another. Most things you want to use are on the Left Alt layer of bindings for W A D S key control style ease of use. The F interaction key sometimes does two things depending on if you tap or hold. If there are 2 options, you will see 3 dots under the UI marker hint, so you know holding F is a separate option. There are ways to change the tap and hold default actions when applicable but would take a while to explain. While learning I suggest you keep default settings and look at the control hints on lower right of screen that will change in context as you do various activities. Holding F and right clicking will bring up a radial menu where you can see more options when applicable. Have fun.

A 45 dollar buy-in is pretty good for the amount of game you get/will be getting. It's far from done tho, I've been backing this game for 10 years, 10 years of little to no gameplay, because there isn't a lot of game to satisfy me or most players. Be very mindful of that fact, there is not a lot of "game" here currently. This is the thing that happened to Summit1g, he played hard for 3 weeks and realized it's far from finished, the initial impression does give a "wow" factor, but it doesn't last. It needs more time. But we gladly welcome you into our cult regardless.

@Meeetballz really it's more sandbox and less game right now. There's the tools to have fun but you'll need some imagination and preferably some friends if you want to have fun for more than a few sessions. They are def pivoting from building game systems and underlying stuff to more feature rich releases now that squadron 42 is in polish and those devs have moved to the PU, but don't expect much in the way of cool quests, just lots of places to go do different cool stuff. Want to go racing? Grab a bike and hit the tracks, etc
@Tsudico7 ай бұрын
@@CyborgLiamtv As others have noted, the game is short on guided content and still depends on players making their own fun. It is hard to say whether you will get tired with the missions they offer or the different things like mining or salvage because so much of it is subjective player experience. Some players like ship combat so have no problem either doing combat missions or PvP dogfighting, others enjoy the more relaxing (but some would consider boring) aspects of scraping a hull for salvage or surveying for a good rock to mine. There are plenty of people who make their own fun, racing originally didn't exist in the persistent universe but groups of players got together to find locations and define the markers that made up the race track and then later on CIG took those player defined race courses and added them as game play when they did make racing missions. Other players have circumnavigated planets using ground vehicles, or create machinima, or a variety of other emergent experiences that can happen if you don't focus on what the game developers have created for players to do, but what their game will allow players to get away with.

I usually pick one of the MFD's (MultiFunctionalDisplay I assume) usually I'll picj the one that says no target click the tab at the top left and change it to comms so that way if hotkeys fail I can just hold f and hit the contact button on there for landing and takeoff it's not as quick as hotkeys but it does make the cockpit feel more immersive! as for 3rd person you'll get used to it you just want to lightly start pulling in the 180 degree opposite of whichever way the ship is pitching you'll eventually have it come into your muscle memory... pre 3.23 Syulen was far harder to takeoff and land in 3rd person when I first started using it luckily i'm good at spatial awareness and directional awareness based on angle I can push in a completely different direction to what it appears even if the camera is on the wrong side! I just wish my depth perception was as good but i'm training it last night I did a barrel roll into a backflip around the ring of Tressler station then into a hangar with the Carrack it was impressive however as impressive as that was it was difficult to land the carrack in the hangar as the front and back are like really close overlook and the doors at either end so I had to take time landing it or i'd either endup with my cockpit landing on the port overview platform or alternatively the hangar doors closing on the back end of my engines and neither would be good cause once you land those gears those doors start closing automatically! the carrack fits in the hangar like a glove and by that I mean theres no room for error I really wish they'd just give it a single update pass to add an updated docking mechanism so I can dock outside instead of into a hangar or at least they add bigger hangars!! sadly the tight hangar means it's difficult because the carrack ain't small and you can't zoom the camera out close enough since it collides with hangar geometry you it's a difficult task making sure it's not making contact at the front or back due to lack of camera angles that prove a full view if the ceiling was higher it might allow one to see the hole carrack from back to front from that angle you could make sure your into the hangar by the right amount... though I imagine after a while i'll remember the timing and no exactly when to stop from experience!

1:39:49 i dont know whats the insurance thing but now i kinda understand Like you buy a ship with real money then thosw ship have expiration date and when it ends you either buy a new ship In-Game or buy the same on In-game Damn imagine they complete the game and they implemented this then you buy the Game played a little and discover your PC cant handle it then after few years you come back With no ship in your hangar and now shipless You either pay a player for being a taxi or rent a ship (or just borrow In-game money and never pay them back)
@festersmith83527 ай бұрын
Currently, the insurance time frame purchased with a ship does not matter. Every ship is replaceable at the moment, by claiming it a kiosk. When the game goes to a released candidate, then those insurance times will matter. We don't have all the details of how it will work then. But you will never permanently lose a ship you paid cash for on the website. You may get it back in its default state, and/or with an extended wait time, if you do not have insurance on it. Its been a topic of many discussions, and the only thing we the community can come up with to make insurance meaningful, is the wait times, and the configuration in which you get a new one (upgraded as you had it, or a default load out). Anyone who tells you what is to be the plan for sure, is only speculating. But we were promised that you will never lose a ship you paid cash for. Thats official from CIG.

An extra 16gb is only like $30 these days, which is not much unless you're a little kid. But given that star citizen probably has the oldest gamer demographic among all games at like 30-60 years old. Alt+N never works for me so I always have to use the MFDs on the ship to open hangers
@festersmith83527 ай бұрын
have you ever tried rebinding it to something different? I use N double tap.

The Avenger Titan is an awesome ship, pity it has one of the oldest interiors in the game and is horribly outdated.

did you use frame generation? works well for me on my 6700xt
@CyborgLiamtv7 ай бұрын
is that in the 'in game settings'?
@rooster10127 ай бұрын
@@CyborgLiamtv Yes DLSS, FSR and XSR use DLSS if you have NVidia card capable of DLSS if not use FSR or XSR, FSR or XSR if Radeon, XSR appears to be a little better than FSR as far as graphics quality as of now as it is their in house option. Once Vulcan is 100% implemented your PC should perform much better.

Please try to ignore the hate you will eventually see... There are of course annoying bugs and long development but I swear if you give it time and patience, the game will impress you more and more! I am speaking from supporting this game for 5 years!

It's only $45 and the gane engine is in alpha, not the game. This is just a test room for developing as they make SQ42, then theyll use this as a foundation for the actual SC

I bought it this week. I got 7900xtx and it ran like shit so i got 32gb ram so i got a total of 48 GB ram. On very high graphics i am getting 120 dps in space and 80-90 on ground. Runs very nice but i will be upgrading cpu to ro the am5 platform. I am running it on 1440p too.

You don't realize it coming in but development of this game is pretty slow and once you've seen everything the true believers of this game try to validate their opinions or relive their initial experience by watching new players, trying to get you to do certain things, and showing off their large ships. It's probably a good thing but there's this whole dynamic around trying to show off the game or impress new players. It's a pretty cool experience seeing the interiors of ships, walking around, landing, and flying in & out of atmosphere. It's worth checking out every so often or having the game on your radar. The problem is most of the mission content and gameplay loops are pretty shallow and it doesn't really hold up as a full live service MMO people want it to be 13 years later. You do get to a point we're you're somewhat over it pretty fast. But we just came off of years of the developers all focusing on the single player game and remaining completely tight lipped about it while we would only receive new ships (for monetization purposes) and tiny little updates to Star Citizen. Now that the single player game is wrapping up, devs are moving over to multiplayer game, and we are seeing progress on some of the core tech that has been promised for 8 years people are hoping this is when the game is actually going to become something.

why do you keep turboing into the planet with no shields? you are gonna crash every time? death is the instruction manual you learn by dying here and you will die a lot (we all do). the second u get near a landing zone hold b to go into gun mode even if you aint shooting u get shields after u get inside landing distance pull out ur landing gear itll slow u to 30 kph.
