My god not gonna lie im impressed how well you were able to handle the game with the borked tutorial. Also great job landing and finding ur way through the UI. You should connect with someone in the community to check out the bigger ships! Thats where the game starts being easier to handle.

I like problem solving so I really wanted to embrace the challenge once the tutorial broke and the game is really good at giving pointers if you look at the signs, almost nothing is out there for no reason which is really nice and immersive, I’ve rented a few medium ships like the cutlass black and I find em really hard to fly still getting use to it, saving up for a bigger ship tho, still early into the figuring it out 🤔

@@StephLyonTV Yes, all signage is real and meaningful. Flying right now is difficult, server are at a low point from recent updates and the new MFD's (instrument panels) and flight model (new this patch so few YT tutorials on it) is a learning curve. I'm OG backer and have been playing almost daily for the last couple of years and still almost crashed and bounced off a planet when the ship didn't behave as expected with the new patch. @@indie1138 yeah I’ve had a few scenarios where I land then my shop decides to go into a barrel roll even with my engine off or I land and get the landing complete sound then I exit the vehicle just to be 20 meters above ground and die 🤣🤣 I’m a die hard solo player on most games I play, I tend to join people more when I’m seasoned so I’m not a burden. Are not assigned to players and once you get out is like checking out. Right now only the Hangar in the planet where you did spawn for the first time is owned by you. You impressed me, dude. You're a true gamer. You logically figured out how to use the in-game diegetic experience to play. Well done!! You nailed why we love SC, it is truly immersive. Just remember you can interact with your ship ladder, everything on your ship with F, and also every item you hold. Holding down the left click will activate the use or put down the item too depending on the type of item. Otherwise looking at it and using F is the safe way.

For a first timer, you did EXTREMELY well. A lot of people are not able to figure things out the way you did, and it takes them multiple tries just to do simple things like leave the atmosphere or land at another hangar. This was pretty impressive to watch, since I didn't finally figure out how to fly correctly out of the hangar without crashing until maybe two weeks after starting.

Welcome to the 'verse! Glad you got things figured out. You did SO WELL! Especially without the tutorial! This game has an insane difficulty curve. Some tips: 1. Mouse wheel up and down to control your aircraft speed, or if you're on foot, your character's walking speed. 2. ALT+C is cruise control. Leave that alone until you learn to fly. You were not pulled in. You set a top speed, set cruise control and pointed your ship at the space station. It happens even to me, lol. 3. Try requesting your ship while in your hangar instead at the terminal. It's kinda cool to see. 4. No player bases yet. It's coming by SC (not alpha) 1.0 though. 5. GOOD JOB setting your re-spawn point. First thing veterans do is fly to the closest orbital station, and set their spawn point for the station. It's just quicker than flying off planet. 6. Next week is IAE. You can fly every flyable ship that week. Each day is a new manufacturer and you can rent the ship for a day. Also makes for easy content. People want to see your reaction to these ships. 7. Look around and explore the landing sites. There's loot containers. You can get weapons, armor, undersuits, food, etc. 8. If you randomly kill people you can get a crime stat and go to prison. But you can loot their bodies. Your choice. 9. The bigger the rewards, the higher the risk. 10. The numbers you see on your HUD on a planet is your angle from the horizon. So, 90 is straight up. 0 is completely level. You want to have it at 0 when landing. Meaning you're parallel with the ground. 11. You need to visit New Babbage (on the planet Microtech), Grim Hex (pirate base around Crusader's moon Yela), and Loreville on the planet Hurston. Also check out a sunset on each planet. 12. Orison is a flying city on a gas giant. Star Citizen's cloud city. It's nice, but you need a good graphics card. ArcCorp is an entire city planet (like Coruscant from Star Wars). It's just more industrial. 13. The crap left on floors is from players. 14. Learn the button to request landing and take off. You can also contact landing services with the MFD 15. You can blend character's faces in the character creator. Try it! There's also a sculpt mode, where it automatically blends the different shapes of the faces. 16. You'll want a good CPU and 32 MB RAM. 17. So glad you understand the slow burn of this game. The immersion is the best. 18. If you want to get into a ship, just ask them. Ask in chat if somebody will let you tour their 890 Jump or Polaris. Trust me. 19. The package floated inside the station. Not sure why you'd drop off a package at an abandoned space station. But this one appears to not be a bug. At least from tge video. 20. Some of your issues is due to bad server performance. 4.0 (the next update, scheduled to release next month) should help with that.

Great job, and welcome! I am a backer from the beginning. I'm glad you are enjoying yourself. That first issue where you crashed into the station, was because you activated cruise control. That is there for people using certain peripherals like M&K, or HOSAS. In other words, if you don't have a throttle and you don't want to hold the throttle on. When you activate it, it will set the throttle to the agreed upon setting and it will stay on until you turn it off. It's basically a throttle toggle. You didn't turn it off, so you continued forward and hit the station. Turn it off again by using I think it's "C", or "ALT +C". The Aurora is one of the first ships to be built if not "The" first and it needs some work. It's one of a few ships that actually have stairs, and they barely work, because the ship is too short. So, I would just use the animation. To enter a ship hold "F" and choose "Enter Ship". Performance wise, the game needs memory and an SSD most. Currently you need at least 32GB of memory to play smoothly. You also need an SSD to load all the data as fast as possible. If you don't have either of those, I would seriously consider an upgrade to improve your experience.
@StephLyonTV
@StephLyonTV Ай бұрын
Ah yeah I did have it on I just thought i stopped going forward 🤣🤣 I didn’t know I could enter with F I thought it only opened the door 🤯🤔 I’ve got 64GB ram and running off a 2TB SSD, I realized some parts of the video look REALLY laggy but the lowest fps I had was 26, on my screen when I was playing it was actually the camera lagging and my game was fine but in editing after the recording encoded my camera was fine but the game looked like it was lagging, very weird 🤣🤣
@BalokLives
@BalokLives Ай бұрын
@@StephLyonTV I didn't see it either, but it's supposed to be there on every ship. Try looking around. I'll pull my Aurora LN out to see. There's also an option to set other commands like enter to default so you can just 'tap' "F". Other than that, it sounds like you're all good.

Watching your first 30 minutes of the video I know where you cut it and I also know why. But then later when you said you played it for a day straight I also saw that you learned alot of things you didn't know. Here are a few tips that will prevent heartache maybe later in your journey: #1 I see that you have cruise control on alot. Make sure its OFF when you approach any landing or you might increase speed by accident and your ship will just ram into a wall without you pressing any buttons #2 When landing somewhere with gravity, moons, planet pad, always hit i to turn the engines off. This applies to flying in coupled mode. Reason being, if you don't and you bump your ship lets say with a box and your tractor beam you could hit it hard enough to lift off, and due to it being coupled it will simply stay in the air. Thats why you turn engines off in gravity. In space you want to keep them on for the same reason, but so that your ship stops drifting or spinning faster in case something hits you #3 When you eventually figure out how to log out in a ship, do NOT log out on a planet/moon as you can glitch through the surface when loading in, and thats a deathsentence unless you quickly log out with the menu. Same applies when randomly falling through the world, DON'T HESITATE, just esc and exit to menu. #4 Sometimes it can happen that something gets stuck in your hand. Simply draw a tool or gun, that usually fixes that. Same when your view gets stuck and you cannot turn and only strafe #5 When your arms have a tier 1 injury you will be severely limited from alot of actions, even holding a gun or tool and worst of all, properly fly your ship. So always have a med tool with you when doing fps stuff. If you have an injury you can hold F on the tool switch it to Auto and then auto again in its tiny UI in the bottom right, it will configure the drugs automatically and buff you, even with a T1 injury for about 5 minutes. You only need the medtool and for quick emergencies the medpens #6 There are red pens that are called deconpens or something, they look very similar to the medpens, be careful not to equip those, I think that happened to you in the bunker where you thought it didn't do anything, that was the wrong pen #6 There might be a patch soon which will fix the defenses of bunkers. The way you did them now is a bug, normally you cannot land this close. Those turrets will rip you to shreds if thats fixed. Unless you have a powerful ship and know what you are doing. And for that as a tip, the aurora is small, usually you can use the terrain as a cover so those turrets that don't work right now wont be able to shoot your ship. Not really a tip but general advice, SC is very CPU hungry, especially with recording running. DLSS helps and with an nvidia card you can probably record with the shadowplay encoder. But yeah. Very CPU hungry. And to the tutorial I can just say, there is more people out there who abandoned it than people who were able to complete it without bugs. Missions not updating is very common, and you will encounter more bugs along the way. I can just imagine what it must feel like starting out, it looks like you have fun. Don't let yourself be influenced by either negativity or infectious hype. SC is very polarizing, but it is alot healthier to keep a middle ground to keep your sanity if you get addicted
@Qwarzz
@Qwarzz Ай бұрын
You should always be able to land near a bunker that is still in friendly hands as long as you have a contract there. So defend contracts should work like this, as long as you don't overstay after the contract is done. This doesn't mean all bunkers will be safe to approach, nine tails will shoot you down of course.

Yeah I’ve been wary because of it, but for me to enjoy this game even tho 80% of the times I die is due to bugs is crazy, that just shows that a game still 60% complete is more engaging than a lot of 100% finished games out in the market. So scam or not at 45$ entry the game has more content than most 60$ AAA games 🤔 And thank you, I hope in the future i can start making more content on the game and testing things o7

@@StephLyonTVto be fair (and optimistic) a lot of the bugs and issues are caused by the low server fps (basically the times the server manages to refresh everything that it’s happening in the entire system). In the next big patch they will release server meshing, so they will split the system in more servers seamlessly and without loading times. This should improve the server performances by a lot

if you really like the game, the number 1 thing I would suggest you do is upgrade your starter ship to the Avenger Titan, it is by far the best and most versatile starter ship and will give you the most options to try as many game loops as you can with a starter ship. its a fast little ship, a good fighter once you upgrade the weapons, a large cargo area, a bed, all in one small package.

Welcome to SC, always fun watching someone experience it for the first time! You've probably already heard but the patches and servers have been a mess since citizencon, probably contributing to the bugs and performance issues you were experiencing. But the game also has some unusual hardware requirements to get the most performance in the game right now, and I feel like your performance could be smoother with that 4060. In graphics settings, do you use DirectX or Vulkan? Vulkan is much smoother for me (also on a 4000 series gpu). And I'm assuming you have it installed on an SSD? It's barely playable on a HDD. I would also recommend 64gb of memory if you're running 32gb or below. Game will gladly hog 40gb+. After that, if you want to go further with getting more frames, upgrading the Ryzen 5 5500 to a 5800X3D would probably be the next cheapest way. The 5800X3D fits in the same socket as the 5500 (AM4 socket), and Star Citizen looooves the added cache on the X3D chips
@StephLyonTV
@StephLyonTV Ай бұрын
Thank you 🔥 yeah it was pretty fun I can’t lie and I’m a picky gamer 🤣🤣 Everyone’s telling me the patch is botched but so far it’s like only “silly” bugs I’m running into and some stuff not working like they should half the time which is actually easy to overlook for now as I’m still in the WOW THIS IS GREAT stage 🤣🤣 Ok right I’m running directx 11 I believe, I put it into vulkan briefly and it looked a lil bit more bitty so I changed back 🤔 I’m playing it from my game disk which is a 2TB silicone power SSD and running 64GB ram vengeance, I was looking at the 5800 as an upgrade in the future anyways but the X3D may be the route if I start taking Star Citizen seriously and want to make more content, I just have to make sure I have the headroom on my PSU 🤔
@weyderwarr
@weyderwarr Ай бұрын
@@StephLyonTV It's all fun and silly bugs until the game detects you're having too much fun and decides to blow up your ship full of the cargo you spent all your money on 🤣 There's a lot of cool stuff in the game right now, but some really important tech and systems needed to tie it all together are on the roadmap for 4.0 and next year so its worth sticking around or coming back to check it out later in the future after you get past the "WOW THIS IS GREAT" stage haha And that's strange, Vulkan always worked much better for me. Vulkan lets the game use more cores and generally that means better performance, but I've heard it can result in higher VRAM usage on your GPU, so it could be that the 4060's 6gb is being pushed to its limits in some areas of the game. Will keep an eye out for part 2 in the series, and hope to see you around for the 4.0 launch!

I love that you started playing Star Citizen with an open mind after being a hater. I was exactly the same way. Probably worse. I was an elite dangerous player and kept talking bad about Star Citizen because it seemed like a scam and a joke. Eventually someone who I trusted that had played it told me there was really something there. There was an actual game and you could fly your ship and walk through your ship which you could still not do in elite dangerous. After The elite dangerous developers said they were no longer going to make ship interiors a thing I decided to give star citizen a chance. I was blown away by the level of immersion in the game. Yes the game is full of bugs. Yes it can be irritating at times. Yes there needs to be more content and progression, but that all being said there is so much to the game already. It is beautiful. It's insanely immersive. Even the bugs have given me so much more content than I could have ever expected. My friends and I have had an incredible time flying in each other's ships and using turrets like the millennium falcon. Bounty hunting, anti-terrorist combat, bunker missions, stealing AI ships or even abandoned players ships, cargo missions... Always finding ways to do things in the game and work around the bugs. I love the game. I take breaks because I feel like you should take breaks from it every now and then, but I always come back and I always believe in this game and the developers. They are making something special regardless of what haters say. I was a hater but I gave it a chance and I get it now. I'm glad you seemed to have a good time.
