First impression after listening to them for a couple hours is…holy shit. Seriously though, playing that 2049 track is insane. Didn’t know headphones could do that. They definitely don’t magically add low end if the song doesn’t have it, just emphasizes it. But if they do, like that Blade Runner track…damn.

After spending a month now with the Eris, I think the most striking aspect of this headphone is the staging and layering. Normally, when we discuss soundstage, we talk about width left to right as if in a horizontal line. We also talk about depth. With the Eris, I was impressed by the almost vertical presentation. Kick drums sounded like they came from somewhere deep down at my stomach level. Bass guitars - my chest area. Mid centric instruments in front of my face and cymbals or hi synth sounds over my head. I found it like a stretched out vertical layering and it's absolutely insane! Hell yeah!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉

I just got my pair today. I have to say, I haven't experienced a pair of headphones anywhere that ACTUALLY VIBRATE MY HEAD. To be clear - you can actually FEEL the bass. Some of my IEM's have sound that goes this deep and clean, but there's a visceral feeling to these that takes it to the next level. I'm hooked. So far just testing with my BTR15...gotta play with more power later. 😈 Overall, I like it. A lot. 😁 **edit** I don't want to give more opinion until I get more hours in these, but I do like the clarity they have even though they really do have 'violent bass' when you crank them up (and the song calls for it). So far, it's not emphasizing the bass really, just extending with a vengeance when it's called for. I do like my music loud, and these have zero issues with that so far. Clear and clean all the way up to near full volume on my BTR15, and that palpable bass is fun.

So mine just came in the mail. I'm really not good at describing headphone/audiophile terminology but holy shit *these* are indeed bass cannons. All I can tell you as of now is that the songs can be hit or miss but for the most part its really fun and enjoyable. Some songs that are already bass heavy can feel a little much. Its definitely got a sparkly kick in the high end. Not really enough to be sibilant to my sensitive ears (thank god). And bass is of course overwhelming, but as advertised. Also the first thing I tried was plugging the 4.4 end into my Singxer SA-1 and the metal cable end was too fat to large to fully connect lol. (Thankfully I have adapters for everything). These also sound wonderful on the Geshelli Erish 3 amp. Gonna try my Liquid Platinum amp later. Also I'm not sure if Zeos would be proud or upset at this, but one of the first things I did after listening to a few songs was to pad roll them with a spare pair of ZMF pads I had. Universe hybrid perforated pads I believe. It actually makes things wayyyy more neutral and less bass congested. (They were still pretty bass-y) Only issue is that the pads were a little too loose but sounded like a normally tuned pair of headphones with them on. But at the same time I feel like it defeats the purpose since these were meant to be BASS CANNONS. BITTERSUITE from Billie Eilish was a night and day difference between the stock pads and the ZMF pads. So you have that option if you feel like its a bit too congested / bass-y for your tastes. YMMV depending on the pads you roll with of course. I'm 13 headphones in my collection and the Eris is easily the most bass heavy pair I have and I sort of love them for that. The comfort, the amazing cable, the fun factor and the price sort of makes it a good addition to anyone with a decent collection to have. The only thing that I have that can come close to these bass wise is the DCA Aeon Noire's. Granted the Noire bass is a little tighter but its also like $500 more. So overall, I really like them due to the fun factor and obviously the pad-roll potential. Really awesome package for the price. Happy to have them in my collection.

$450 AUD for reference but I trust you Z! TRON Legacy is calling to me again... Update: 21 days later they have arrived! SN-600 has it's plugs intact, no rattling or even squeaking of the pads. Burn in commenced but initial impressions are more comfortable than x2's (smaller and lighter) Warm sound, very detailed, the S's are a little uncomfortable but burn in should help that. And backwards needs more testing but I like it! Update: after a few weeks, 50 hours music burn in and another 30 on my head these need the time to dull their sharp edge so that they are enjoyable. and wow they are enjoyable, BF2042 sniping in the stadium had me bloody giddy. "staging mode" has become noticably effective now and quite enjoyable for orchestra mostly (try the Mandalorian main theme) Note: These may be better suited to high power amplification or unbalanced use as ive found the damn headphone out on my Yamaha thetre reciever to be the best sound in my suite of gear.

Hey Zeos, I really hope you see this comment. I’ve been a huge fan for years, I’m wanting to support you in buying a pair of the Eris. Unfortunately, Linsoul is charging $30 for express shipping, usually this isn’t an issue if it’s a complementary option, however it’s the only shipping option. To me it feels a little “scammy” to only offer “express” 3-5 day shipping for a preorder product that won’t ship out until July, not to mention it’s stuck behind a pay wall. Being a broke college student I just can’t justify paying for shipping on a $250 product. Just wanted to voice my frustration and yes I’m located in the US.
@ZReviews5 ай бұрын
According to my contact there? All headphones they sell have this surcharge. Other smaller items like IEMs and DAPS are sometimes shipped free because they're much smaller. Unfortunately I wasn't aware. If you want to wait until July they'll be on Amazon with most likely free shipping.

@@ZReviews I'd rather pay $300 from amazon than $250 from a Chinese online store. My browser was hitting me with red flags on that site and I ducked out. Retro Game Corps reviews a bunch of $50-$200 handhelds built around emulation that are sold in a similar way, but I don't trust those sites and the best of them make it to Amazon eventually. It's not like a Steam Deck can fit in your pocket, yet that ended up covering enough bases as someone that hadn't bought a handheld since GBC in 1998 for Pokemon R/B/Y. This begs the question: What is the Steam Deck of headphones? Okay...I just received my pair of Eris. Initial thoughts on sound quality. No burn-in has been done or anything.....these are absolutely fantastic sounding. Running these through my Modi Multi-Bit and Asgard 3 Amp. I'm comparing these to my Harmonicdyne Poseidon's, and DT 1990 Pro's. Definitely a V shaped sound pattern, a lot of bright highs, I mean the high end on these are amazing. Lows end is awesome also. A lot more bass then the Poseidon's, and maybe (almost) on par with the DT 1990's. I'll try and update further after listening some more, but these are great so far.

@@ZReviews What's up Z! Alright, update. Been listening to a bunch of music the last couple days. My genres are typically some Metal and a lot of Synthwave. I mainly went back and forth and compared directly to my DT 1990 Pro's the whole time (my 1990's are Dekoni swapped also). Bottom line, I never thought anything would/could dethrone my 1990's and I think the Eris have done it. I'm just astounded really. My DT 1990's have a smaller/cramped sound stage in comparison, but just a touch "tighter" imaging. The Eris on the other hand, has the upper hand in sound stage, by far. These are just wider and more grand sounding. And the bass on these is just....*mwah chef kiss*. The Eris are super easy to drive also (especially on my Asgard 3), while the 1990's take literally twice the volume. Comfort wise....Eris wins again. They're lighter, less clamp force and just feel better. Obviously if you want some of the best built headphones ever, you'll spend $600 on the DT's. But...I have zero issues with any build quality on these Eris. They're solid. No creaks, anything loose, etc. Also, there is no comparison to the Poseidon's. The Eris are in a whole other league. I don't know how you guys did it, but damn. These are phenomenal headphones for the price. I have a feeling, nothing will dethrone these Eris for me in this price range....not for awhile.

Didnt see this video and had no idea this headphone existed or you were connected to it. Tried it at the booth at last weekend's Toronto Audio Fest. It's good. It was the most impressive headphone on the floor. You did good. The bass isn't overdone, unlike the competition, it's actually trying to sound like real music.

Ok, now you caught my attention... you mentioned the AudioQuest Nighthawks. I have all three versions of AQ birds (OG, Carbon, and the Nightowl) the last one being perhaps my favorite headphones. Not my best headphones, not even close (((on paper and for those who focus on measurements))), but they are the ones I enjoy music (rock) the most. Well, that along with my Denon 7200 and Ibasso SR2. So tell me (PLEASE), how does the Eris compare to the Nighthawks/Nightowls? Which aspects of the Eris are an upgrade (sound-wise)? Also, you mentioned "comfort". Of my collection, the AQ birds are the most comfortable headphones followed by DCA ÆON 2 and the Arya Stealth. Are the Eris more comfortable? I also have the Athenas, comfort, and built-wise, how does the Eris compare?
@ZReviewsАй бұрын
So if you have Athena, that is the easiest to compare against. I've upped the thickness and changed the material so that it is by far my most comfortable headphone. I don't think anyone has disagreed with that aspect. As far as comparing to the Nighthawks, unfortunately, it's been too long and I can't do any direct comparisons. I just remember the feeling they gave me of. This is weird and wrong, but I love it. I feel like Eris does that pretty well.. Improving certain aspects for sure.
@invisiblekid99Ай бұрын
They are not as "accomplished" the the Nightowls, that's for sure. While these are very V shaped, mids and uppers sound flat, not lifeless, but they come across as very much just a left and right sound. But of course the Zeos bass trounces them and while the mids and uppers are not in your face like the NO, they are "brighter". Comfort is about equal, but feels different. They feel more comforting, but being better than the AQ's is a very high bar to aim for. These are epic fun for EMD, rock and some Hans Zimmer sub woofer bass. I sue the NO for my PC messing around headphone and I think these will replace them.

Either of the Hellblade games would make for a good gaming audio demo. They recorded all the dialog in the character's head with a binaural microphone so the imaging and sound stage of the headphones will be highly emphasized

If the nighthawk comparison is valid this'll be a welcome addition to the space. Certain people, myself included, have been waiting for a successor for a while.

Hey Z, loving the Eris. Was the first one to buy it at london canjam. Btw, if you still have your Xenns UP and ever want to sell, let me know as i will happily buy them. I already have them but just heard it's been discontinued ! I'll need a 2nd pair for when mine give up the ghost. :-)
@turbomustang845 ай бұрын
I will be buying a pair not because I need more headphones but because the build looks very good. What's funny is most of my favorite headphones that were reviewed on your channel for the most part you did not like and a couple that you hyped as the greatest I had to give away or return because IMHO they were hot garbage LoL It's a matter of preference really but I agree more with your speaker and amplifier opinions but headphones not so much . So why would I buy a colab from someone who obviously does not like the same sound signature as me ? Well.... while you might not always get it right when you have passion for something you are all in and since your grandparents house videos that was what set you apart from a lot of reviewers. So I'll buy it and if it's great I will absolutely say so. But congrats it really looks good and I wish you great success

Order placed. Buying because of the "ice cream truck on the Nurburgring" comment and similar excellent content over the years. If they do weird things with sound, are comfortable, cost 250 bucks and are purple, then yeah. Sucks there's no Bane-style Dyson mouthpiece though. I feel like that's a missed opportunity.

I will collab with someone just for that.

Very intrigued by the "violent bass" promise, but I have to ask: How TIGHT is that bass? Because a lot of bass is one thing, but fast, tight, bass, is the real hard thing to obtain in my experience. IEMs can do it but a lot of dynamic headphones struggle.
@ZReviews5 ай бұрын
Because of the semi closed-back it actually acts kind of like an x order subwoofer enclosure. At least to my ears. It doesn't infect the rest of the sound with low end. So it's fast and punchy when it needs to be.

@@ZReviews Alright my dude, you started me on my audio journey, so I ordered a set. Pretty done with headphones, haven't bought a set in years, more interested in building my speaker setup now, but these sound too interesting to pass on. Hope I love them.

These sound a lot like the ModHouse t50mk3 argons by your description of their big soundstage and insane bass. How do they compare to them and were they an insipiration? P.S. Proud of you for getting this far been watching since the old crib

Suggestions for small games with good sound: Risk of Rain 2, fun soundtrack with guns and monsters. Enter the Gungeon, guns guns and more guns. Helldivers 2 if you have the size cause it's fantastic.

I've had one or two days where treble were a concern but the break-in pushed it away, or run it backwards and it will dip the Treble significantly. #dualtuning

Go back and watch your Athena review -- you actually had really nice things to say about it. So much so that I was tempted to buy them, but I'm glad I waited for your Eris. The wood and steel Harmonicdyne Helios, which you gushed over way back in the day, is still one of my favorite headphones (after pad swapping). The build quality on these looks better and the headband design is definitely refined over the first iteration (though mine are holding up ok). I don't have any super bass-heavy cans (only your Rinkos) so I'll keep an eye on these after they've released and I have money again. I just picked up the Sivga Luans (based on your review and those of others) and am in love with them so far.
