I love how your playthrough illustrates something I read from the developers about how they realized pretty early on that if they wanted players to experiment and take risks, they had to understand that means players will die a lot, so you have to figure out how to make dying fun. Or at least, make dying painless enough that it doesn't overshadow the fun of whatever zany thing you were attempting that got you killed! That's why it autosaves so often that dying never sets you back very far, and the only real penalty is that you have to look at the game over screen for a few seconds. So the next time you get a wacky idea, you don't hesitate to try it out because you don't feel any pressing need to really avoid dying at all costs.

BotW is already a modern classic, and IMO the cure for many of the modern AAA openworld cancers that have been plaguing the industry for many years. Looking at you, Ubisoft. BUT! It's also good to remember that BotW itself is a HUGE departure from what people would consider the "classic Zelda formula". It does kinda take the series back to its 1986 roots, but it also reinvents a ton of things, resulting one of the most OPEN ended games I know of. If you want to have a trip down the memory lane and experience the OTHER GOTYAY masterpieces, Ocarina Of Time (the N64 orignal / PC recomp) is the way to start. You'll be shocked on how much LORE you miss by playing BotW blind, and how much innovation Nintendo poured on their games already 30 years ago.

Seriously, if this becomes a series I am tuning in every damn week! I'm so invested! Edit: also, I can see a few gatekeepers near the bottom of the comments. Don't mind them 😊 Zelda games have changed and come a long way since the first one. I think we'd love to see you give some of them a go at some point. BOTW is very different to some of the old games, which might have come as a dissapointment to some of the more longterm fans after waiting for it for so long. But not all of them 😁 It's a shame it's not everyone's cup of tea but it's every bit a Zelda game as the others, they've just taken a different approach. Some of my favourite content is of this game and it's sequel. It's a new vibe but so much fun!

This game is my first zelda game, and I still haven't finished it.. Someone gifted me the game last year, but sadly I lost motivation after getting confused on how to continue. I am not a gamer, and it's something I'm not used to, so it was frustrating to continue when I was slowly getting bored. When I read comments like these ; they're surprising motivating because not everyone was fortunate to grow up with games, and know the mechanics of these type of games, not to mention having the console itself to even play. What might seem like second nature to y'all, it's a thing I have to learn more about, and try out.People can be so rude to newbies, so thanks for the reminder :) I want to try it again, even if I'm still a beginner..
@jessicaable50953 ай бұрын
@@Ama_tullah hi! 😊 I'm happy it motivated you a bit. I would highly recommend continuing, but don't feel too down if it's still not your thing. As I said, the style of this game isn't everyone's cup of tea. I personally loved it for the exploration and getting to know the world so much that, if suddenly dropped in the middle of it myself, I'd know exactly where to go for supplies, weapons, or safety. I also loved how many ways the game gives you to fight or solve puzzles. It really feels like your own journey and can give you memories of it not every other player will have. I distinctly remember the first time I came across civilization, after about an hour trying to take down the same bokoblin camp and getting chased by a stone talus (big scary rock guy). I felt very much in danger and very much alone. I hadn't seen a soul since the king's ghost sent me on my way and disappeared. For all I knew, the world was empty of anyone but me and I was searching for another ghost. It was night, I crested a hill and heard distant music. I looked down and saw the lights of a village in the valley below me and felt so much relief. I camped underneath three apple trees until morning, because in my mind I thought an adventurer would rest after battle before going forward to reach a distant town. That's one of my favourite memories of the game 😊 and I think it might help you to think of it less like a game and more like a journey you're taking. You don't have to fight every monster or climb every mountain, but your journey will be yours. If you give the game another shot, I hope you enjoy it. If not, don't stress about it 😆

Instead I went for a PC). In mid-2023 I finally bought a Switch as I wanted to understand the whole Zelda thing. Started with BotW but it didn't click. Don't know why. Three weeks ago all of a sudden I gave it a second try. Since that day, I am so into the whole Zelda world that I really enjoy every second and love each session. Whether I'm just exploring/admiring the world, searching for shrines or following the main story. 50+ hours in now and I don't want it to end. At least there is TotK after BotW which I'm already really looking forward to. Thanks for the great video, which I can totally relate to.

It's probably too late, but I always recommend switching the jump button in the game settings, so B is jump and X is run/cancel. I find it much more natural since so many games have B for jump and Y for attack. I also like Pro mode for the HUD so it only shows hearts on screen.

Hi, I’m [State]. Your [Breath of the Wild] assistant! Ask me anything about the game! I’m happy to provide you with the information you need! Here are a couple of none spoiler tips: 1. If you take of your bow while in midair (you need to be falling not just jumping by pressing X) you will then slow down time making it easier to aim a little like flurry rush. 2. That guardian you saw shoots laser as you may have seen. You can parry those lasers back at them with a shield. Be careful though they can break you shield in one shot if you mess up! 3. Sell gems they have 2 purposes money and upgrading armour. But you can easily get more by fighting a talus’s (stone giant you died while fighting it). Bonus tip: throw remote bombs at the talus. It will make him fall over and let you climb on top to hit the weak point. Not sure if you want or can answer this question but are you playing on an emulator? The UI for naming your horse looked a little off.

31:54 Are you emulating? On Switch, I’ve never seen the Yiga fighter appear before their disguise despawned.

This is great! Try not to get any spoilers, the best thing about botw is finding out things on your own!

I love this video. It’s amazing to see people play botw for the first time. Such a long game, I enjoyed every minute minute. Same with TOTK. You should continue straight to the sequel.

Amazing looking back and seeing how Tears of the Kingdom addressed the pain points and removed friction from Breath of the Wild. I'm enjoying both the energy and the editing, so I'm hoping to see more.

Your emulator did something funny to the physics, but watching you play this for the first time was still top tier entertainment

This aint even a traditional zelda game, so if you plan on playing one of them, it'll be like playing it for the first time again lmao Fun journey, that
@Vor1ki3 ай бұрын
This is a traditional Zelda game though, this is the new tradition that the games will use from now on
@lucasstrople47673 ай бұрын
I remember when "traditional" fans jeered at OoT for being a pale, watered down LttP. Now OoT is traditional and BotW is not. Cue insipid "but dUnGeOnS" arguments from "traditionalists" who forget how time works.

@@lucasstrople4767 Can we stop with the whole sarcasm thing please? I feel like your reply is meant to antagonize. I'm only referring to the games before BotW because I know that's a new 'tradition' so to speak. BotW (and TotK) is so vastly different from the games before. I was only commenting that the original games were so different, really. And before you antagonize me further; I love all the games. I don't care about their differences. It's just cool to look back on what I am used to versus what's new.

Watching somebody experiencing that game for the first time is so great to see. Also the video was really entertaining, so much silly commentary!
@joffa99m443 ай бұрын
I approve that you found Zelda. However, play more of them to get a proper picture. Like skyward sword, oot, spirit tracks, twilight princess, a link between worlds. All of these are vastly different.

BotW isn't the same as any other Zelda game that game before it. You still haven't played a Zelda game yet. You've just played the new direction Zelda has went since 2017. Not saying it's necessarily a bad direction, just a fundamentally different direction than any of the classic games
@maaki502 ай бұрын
Come on, they are still Zelda games! They have the spirit and DNA of Zelda deeply engrained in their design. Botw is one of my favorite games but so is Wind Waker, they are just from different eras in the series history and I love both dearly

*cracks knuckles* *deep breath* "Ahhh sh*t, here we go again" Alright lets not dilly dally here. This footage is most likely from an emulator because the graphics shown here are only available for modified versions of the game. So it might be an emulator or a jailbroken Wii U. How do I know its a Wii U? The tooltips show different buttons on Wii U and Switch and the ones here are the Wii U buttons. Now, lets take a look at the emulator route. If this was recorded on emulator then it would most likely be a Wii U emulator because as previously stated the tooltips are Wii U tooltips. The emulator in question? Most likely Cemu or there could be a mod at hand that swaps the button tooltips to the Wii U ones if this was recorded on Switch hardware or emulator. Now, your probably wondering, "Who asked?"............................... And I say, "F*cking nobody.

I have played the emulated version with Cemu and it looks like he is using one of the clarity presets to change the colors. (I bought the original game in 2018 btw.)
