If you love the little details (like you said about Link's face in the cold), then you'll be happy to know that this game has lots of those. My favourite example is: when you open a chest from behind, Link kicks it. @@thatoneguyontheinternet9765 I find that one of the biggest differences between PlayStation/Xbox and Nintendo is more the intensity you feel as a casual player. The former seems to have more intense games involved; first person shooters, racing games etc, whilst Nintendo is more slow paced: slow platformers (like Mario) and Mario Party. It's important to understand that this is not a rule to how the brands work, but it is an observation I have made. I suppose this is why crossing the gap can be difficult for most players, as they may not be suited to the high or low intensity the games portray.

I'm surprised he figured out which button would allow it the first time, or even thought that it'd be an option without prompting. I didn't know half the shit he tried until I went to the combat tutorial shrine (yes there is one of those and it's found easily enough). Thankfully fearing the guardians only lasts as long as you take to learn how to shield bash the lasers. They can still spook you (THAT PIANO CUE) but they rarely actually scare you once you know how to deal with them, especially since dealing with them is the same regardless of how overpowered you get or if you start the game all over again for whatever reason.

my first time playing it, I played for 7 hours straight... and I'm not a gamer. It was my first non-Animal Crossing game ever. I've watched my husband play Zelda games in the past and I had no intention of playing... but he was working on the day it was released and I just thought I would give it a try expecting to play for 10 mins or so just to check it out. Maybe run around and explore a bit till I was killed. 7 hours later and I had to put the game down so my hubby could have a turn. I love watching someone discover it all for the first time, especially when they haven't deeply analyzed all the trailers or have spoilers. I can't wait for the next game. Lol, the answer of how they can make a Zelda game like this, but not a pokemon game... it's a bit of a few answers: One, if I were to be honest, Nintendo considers Zelda to be a bit more of their critical darling. It's like Disney putting in more money into a Pixar film because they know it will win an Oscar. Two, Mainline Zelda games like this really come once every 5-10 years. Breath of the Wild had many years of development and multiple studios working on it. So far, Pokemon is still only being made by Game Freak (well, at least in terms of design. They have Creatures which are supposed to help them make Art resources for the Pokemon Games). Three, The Zelda team has much more experience working on this kind of hardware. Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee was developed at the same time as Sword and Shield, so you can't say they got much experience in development from each other. So really the last game this team worked on was a 240p game for the 3DS. They got some growing pains that they need to go through like much of the rest of Nintendo... here is hoping they can get to something like this (or rather catch up as a whole) for Gen 9 or 10. People like to say "Game Freak is lazy", but the truth is much more complicated than that. In reality, you can really only go as far as your budget and time, and as long as Pokemon is releasing new games every year, rather than buckling down and really focusing on a next generation project, they will always linger behind like this. Games need bigger budgets and more time, and maybe we might start to see games that rival the content of the older games again.

@@mr.stuffdoer8483 Have you actually played either skyrim or BOTW? Because besides being open world and fantasy based, they are nothing alike. Skyrim is a shallow experience at best without mods, and even so it has such vastly different mechanics than BOTW does. BOTW may have crappy dungeons, I'll give you that, but you are missing out on the real point of breath of the wild, it's in the name. You are meant to be exploreing this massive world(that puts skyrim to shame, and actually fills it well), while helping people and furthering link's character. And I've played the original, don't let difference in mechanics fool you, it is the base ideal of the game I'm reffering to. You are plopped into this world, with little to no guidance and told you have to defeat the evil guy. The way you go about that adventure is up to you. The dungeons can be done in any order(Although, there is a right order in the first game) and you don't have to do everything it there is in the game in one run. When this was announced, everyone was super hyped, but there was also worry, because when was the last time Nintendo made an Open World game? Well, the game dropped and everyone f*ing loved it, because it's so dang great. They nailed it. I really dislike this game was described to reinvent the Zelda franchise, when it actually went back to the roots. When was the last time Nintendo made an Open World game? It was 1986 The Legend of Zelda. Zelda started out as Open World, it was Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time that implemented the more streamlined Zelda formula. And this is is Zelda, a franchise known for delivering top notch games one after another, one of Nintendos flagship franchises, there was no chance they were going to mess this up. And they didn't, they delivered, they went far beyond what we expected. From the amazing physics to the fact you can truly go everywhere. One of the most impressive features for me was, the way you interact with your surroundings just makes so much sense. There's minimal handholding, you learn by doing and when you think something should work, it works. I remember Horizon Zero Dawn was released shortly before Breath of the Wild and it's also an awesome game, but the games were compared to one another ... a LOT. From the way the arrows you shoot fly through the air (and are recollectable in Zelda) to the behavior of the fish in the water and how the grass moves when you walk through it. Breath of the Wild was a massive bomb Nintendo dropped.

"When was the last time nintendo made an open world game?" Not long before, Xenoblade X released in 2015 and was similar in size to BOTW, if not bigger. Nintendo had the game's developers (Monolithsoft) help out with BOTW cause they knew how to make an open world

@@amitaish1055 They actually kept that in on purpose. Speedrunners especially seem to love windbombing.

Power, framerates, and portability aside, as long as you have fun playing a console, its a right choice.

Pretty common in this game to die several times at the beginning and then get pretty strong to the point you feel bad for your enemies. Also, you're really playing it? You could get easy over 100 hours of playtime if your into exploration and making the secondary quests and stuff. Still, great choice, is an incredible game in my opinion.

Did he really die protecting Zelda? I thought he just passed out, so severely wounded that he had to recover in a hundred years. Perhaps i was wrong...

I came back here to thank you for your videos. Just finished the series to which I followed you all along. I believe I learned again on how to appreciate videogames, their story, and to simply "have fun" with them. Sometimes as a developer myself I try too hard to think what the developer would've liked me to do or to find. Your way of playing is so humble and wholesome that you really connect with the character and the story, reminding me of when I played as a child. This game was already great but following it with you made it 10xTimes better

One of my favorite things about BOTW is that the map is actually a topographic map. There is never any guessing on how to navigate the map because you can can read what the terrain is.

@MrWereverForever There were a lot of side stories. The main story wasn't much at all but a lot of the missions were really interesting.
