The amount of content in this My Hero Academia game is insane, the systems are awesome, the characters are too, but when games don't wanna be played, sometimes you just have to move on.

When Stamina didn't refill on level up that was a pretty big red flag as far as design intention goes. It would be nice if this was the base system used for a future single player game, though. There's quite a bit of thought put into characters and mechanics already.

@@shane7277 Yeah, maybe they consider the coins from achievements to be enough? It still feels less fulfilling to complete a story level and not get the premium currency for it like in others. The one that kinda shocked me for how brazen it was was that one of the stamina gift mechanics they have (I guess to offset the incredibly slow regen speed) has a limited claim window. If you miss it, however, they actually let you buy the missed stamina for coins. Stamina starvation definitely seems like something they kept in mind when designing different systems. I doubt they're expecting it to be part of their primary income but that they'd tie a "free" source of it to their premium currency like that is kind of interesting. Then again, it might just be part of their way to make people more comfortable spending the coins- condition them to think that they're that 'worthless' if you can be expected to just toss them down for stamina like that or something.

Genshin has its own set of issues. Its currency confusion doesn't become a major factor till mid to late game and by then you understand the systems and what the game asks of you. You can also get most of it for free and by just exploring and fighting. Resin, the game's energy system can be somewhat stingy and gates you from a lot of leveling progression depending. That being said, Genshin's open world made me feel a bit more freedom than this game and currencies made my brain fry so I just dropped it. I kinda want to try again but... I don't think I have the time or energy ironically enough.

I love this game too since there's just so much to do and it is so diverse. My main issues, though, are the lack of new content once you hit about Level 40 and the fact that it requires so many coins just to even have a chance at the new characters. And even if you do pay like $100, you only can get about 14 draws, maybe 28 if there's a sale. I'm upset that it doesn't replenish the stamina when you level too, but again once you hit the higher levels it doesn't really matter since it takes days to level. On the bright side, so few people are playing at this point that the servers are rarely full. This is the second gacha game I've ever played, so your commentary was super interesting as I don't really know what is or isn't expected from them. Glad to hear it at least stands out to a degree.

I've been playing this game every day since launch just to try getting Aizawa before the event ends and holy f-word! I'd be done now if the story wasn't capped and limited by stamina and leveling. Excellent review and I agree with just about everything. I also like the fact that there is a stamina system, because if there wasn't I know for a fact one too many people with addiction issues would just be on it all day long. I can usually knock out most of my farming stuff in 1 hr, then do whatever I want. I like this more so, as it reminds me of MGS4 that would have useful tips, messages and reminders to take a break or tell you how long you've been playing. I would recommend that is the direction more stuff should have such as streaming and television in general. People can get stuck, and that kind of conditioning is usually detrimental to our health.

Stamina is a pretty big problem, but apart from that the hero coin supply is another big one imo. When u start off and are progressing early on, it's isn't a problem. But once u reach around lvl 40, there is a huge drought for hero coins if u r f2p. Also the pity system is too damn high and unrealistic for f2ps to achieve.

I agree on most points, even though in the end I deleted the game. I tried real hard to get into this mobile game but it definitely suffered from "Excessive amounts of redundant currencies and systems" which can take me out of a game really quick. I like having games with some depth to them but not every system needs its own unique currency. Its a shame but rather or not I delete a game boils down to monetization, and having played a lot of mobile games, I can spot red flags early on, and this game was a bag of red flags for Monetization. One big red flag for me was that Banner pulls used (at least) two different tickets for currency. The tickets you get from doing missions seem to be "Generic Banner" tickets, where as featured unit banners use a different type of ticket, meaning you'll always have to spend premium currency on them. This may exist in other mobile games sure, but its always a red flag for me when just normal Rate-up Gacha banners require their own tickets separate from the ones you earn through playing. Another big red flag was the whole "You pull shards, not heroes". Its not a good system, it never is, especially when said scraps are also required for upgrades. Its a drip feed method that doesn't feel rewarding or satisfying at all, nothing feels worse than saving up for weeks to do a 10 pull and watching you 9 scraps and a dupe 1* pop up, oh boy. Wanna say I experienced this kind of Gacha in Honkai Impact as well, and I see a lot of similarities between that game and this one. Then theres Revives in CoOp costing premium currency, on top of Energy not refilling when you level up, Everything costs stamina and there are a lot of different game modes and upgrade items you need to farm to level and upgrade heroes, its a lot of systems in place that scream "Popular Franchise = Milk fanbase whales". Which is a shame, cause the game has a lot of satisfying aspects.

Honeslty this game would be more fun if it was like a yandere sim game Like examples you get to pick the character you want to play and you get to explore ua and you become friends with the mpcs ( since it could be the beginning of the year ) You could walk around the city at night or after school and get a job so you could build your dorm room and for each character you could have something unlocked Example if you play as todoroki only he could enter the mental hospital since he has a reason to visit his mom it wouldn't make sense to be deku and going there Little details like that And you can find the lov base and you'll have to avoid the lov and if you don't then you can fight them and throw them in jail And talk to civilians So in a way not yandere sim since heros don't kill unless you want your character to and be the ua traitor I dunno I think it would be a fun game you get to explore their world and have so much opportunities and goals and have fun

I know this is a bit late, but the other thing, all those fun side missions, and collectables just disappear after a while. I've only played the game for about 2 months, and I've gotten the max city level. I don't get anymore of those fun little missions, or bonus chapters based on the anime, or the collectables. And that was the stuff I REALLY liked about the game. Instead they added yet another thing you need to grind for to level up your characters.

Globku you haven't seen touched on the hero coins. Yeah early on it gives tons but mostly it's from super Coop and that's only for the first time. Later on, there are no other meaningful sources. And someone calculated that if there's no event that gives a good amount they'll give only 3500 per month. That's just a multi and a half. And this game requires to spend a lot to get substantial power.

This does look pretty cool! I will give it a shot although it does look quite overwhelming, at least at first. Also I hate to be that person who always compares things, but as a player of honkai impact 3 it reminds me a lot of it, which intrigues me since I love honkai (it’s actually my life along with genshin help) but also makes me a bit suspicious...it definitely has some differences with the combat and general gameplay, but some parts like the chibi dorms are so eerily similar to the ones in honkai, like I had to double take when I saw that.
