I am so happy to see Cing get the recognition they deserve, at least a little bit! Hotel Dusk and Last Window are not only some of my favorite games of all time but also benchmarks in my opinion of great story telling and characters in videogames as a whole. My first time playing Hotel Dusk was such an impactful moment for me, I felt like the game was personally made FOR me. It may not be for everybody, but for anyone who likes to wind down with a good book and get absorbed in another world, I could not recommend the series enough. To some, the series will be okay or good at best; to others, it will be one of the greatest game experiences you will ever have and will be incredibly sad once it is all over, begging to have one more night with the titular character Kyle Hyde. Thor if you read this, I am curious if you will play the other Cing games! Little King Story is fantastic and probably the best game they did aside from these.

Owning copy of last window makes me proud. That Christmas eve writing and interactions are some of comfiest things to get into during an evening lying in bed before closing the DS. Makes you really feel that part about art being tied to money, which sucks. I mean art in sense always has been but if you made enough to keep on living and doing you that used to be all needed.

I really love the art and you sold me on the vibes but I gotta be in a particular mood to start these kinda games (or watch something). Gotta find myself these games. I mainly came to Cing games for the very excellent and still unprecedentedly creative game control gimmicks (The one where you had to fold your DS to match screen images in the screen's reflections?! Eesh). So Another Code was the series for me, while Hotel Dusk felt a bit of a step back, both in the gruffman protag and the puzzles. Some good observations here on Cing's rare focus on small humane stories. Thanks. Sad to see them reduced to small visualnovel production (for now).

check out Jake Hunter (Tantei Jinguuji Saburou) some time, really early console adventure franchise in Japan that's still going to this day. first English release was a remake of the Famicom games for the DS as "Jake Hunter: Memories of The Past" (an earlier release, Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles was a botched attempt and the first example I can think of where a company immediately tired to relocalise a game). Aksys has been translating some of the more recent games for Switch. might be interesting seeing the early starting points of the Japanese console adventure genre, along with Portopia, Metal Slader Glory and Famicom Detective Club (mostly fan translated)?

Money will never NOT be a thing. People require stuff to live. To get this stuff, you need to do one of two things: 1) Spend your time and energy to get it yourself. 2) Trade with others to get THEM to spend THEIR time and energy to get it for you. Creation of art requires assets. Even a writer requires paper and pencil. He also requires free time. To get these things, he needs to pay. Either through sweat or barter. Nothing in this world is free.
