This video revived my interest in RC airplanes - thanks!

Great first go mate. Cool little first plane for sure. When you get lots of practice with this plane get the AeroScout. It's much bigger and more capable in the wind. it's a pusher prop plane meaning you don't have to worry about breaking the prop. Mine still has the original prop. The RTF version is about $250 here in the states. You can take it out the box and have it together in just a few minutes and take it apart put it back in the box for easy travel or storage. Very very simple. It comes with a spectrum DXe controller and has telemetry battery low voltage warning which is very nice to not have to time your flights and worry about the battery dieing in the air. It Comes with a 3S spectrum smart battery and smart charger. It has safe which is auto leveling and a medium setting which doesn't auto level but it limits the bank angle to where you can't flip it upside down and a professional setting to where you can do more sporty flying loops rolls etc. That was my first plane and I still have it although it is pretty beat up now lol but it still flies great. You can find replacement parts very easy also. Great first or second plane. That was a very impressive first flight. Most people crash with in seconds of their first go. Lol ✌️

As someone who has been into RC planes as long as RC cars this was one of your funnier videos. I think just because it was your first plane and you didn’t know what to expect. The park flyers are great because they are virtually indestructible and can be fixed with packing tape.

Great job! I spent probably 40+ hours on a simulator before I had the guts to fly my plane. It’s different when you have money up in the air. My first plane was a 1400mm wingspan Cessna, to give it some healthy weight I bumped up from 3S to 4S lipo. After a few months, moved onto a 1100mm wingspan T-28, and then about six months later finally move to what I ultimately wanted to fly, 70mm EDF A-10 Warthog.

Yep it can get expensive fast if you just dive in. I'm happy with going slowly but my end goal is a Eflite DRACO 2.0m Smart PNP EFL12575
@galkawarrior3 жыл бұрын
@@RCKickschannel the Draco is also a top wing plane, which is sort of still a trainer plane. Get a simulator and get more practice in, or better yet get a small helicopter with dual rotors to practice indoors. It’s all about training your muscle memory to make small and smooth movements on the sticks. In my opinion, with the way you flew, you’ll be ready for the Draco in no time. Always takeoff and land into the wind.

Great job Gavin. I've been flying rc for 20 years, and have broken and fixed more aeroplanes than I care to mention. Harrier landing on your first attempt... wish mine had gone that well! Keep going with the flying, you'll break it eventually, but you'll have fun. Light doesn't mean it won't break. It's part of the hobby though, we get reminded now and then! 😂 Cheers! 👍

I think this is great plane. Years ago my plan was for learning alone. The cheapest lightest slowest plane and not to small. I startet with an EPP 3d plane with a around 200mah 2s Batterie. After that I build a simple Warbird out of a bit foam. Now I fly way less and IAM more on the ground

Hey mate I've been flying over 20-years.. and yes I know you had a gyro.. but for a maiden flight you did exceptionally well.... In windy conditions always remember one thing... It is far better to be on the ground wishing you are in the air,. Than in the air wishing you were on the ground.,👍🇬🇧😎

Get a simulator and join a club, this is the best way to learn and enjoy. And if you get to Sydney come for a fly at our club Parramatta Radio Control Aircraft Club. Generally the larger the plane the easier to fly, and of course the reverse is also true. Don't get too accustomed to flying with a gyro. Well done for first flight.
@RCKickschannel3 жыл бұрын
For now, gyro is my friend but I totally understand why you shouldn't. I want to fly a few low price RTR aeroplanes for a while moving up the weight as I go. My final goal is to have a E-flite® DRACO but let's not fly before I can crawl lol. I need a good year+ of flying before getting something remotely like that.

In "Flight Of The Phoenix"... the German model airplane designer told the captain "Toy planes are those cheap, silly things that just run along the ground, and can't even glide... model planes follow the same principles of flight as full-scale planes, and must be designed to auto-correct.!" If this IS your first time flying R/C planes, OP, then be grateful that your choice of plane was so-well designed. =;)

Just to say everyone: you don NOT require CAA or Bmfa memberships for anything under 250g, like Gav was flying. Hope Gav get some bigger stuff soon though
@RCKickschannel3 жыл бұрын
Yep, no limitations on 250g or lower. The plane in the video is only 70g! I now have a CAA ID and I'm a member of the BMFA as well as I passed the BMFA RCC test last night. I can now fly 0-25kg aeroplanes but I am only looking for a second plane around 500g - 1kg but I'm in no rush. The ONLY reason for going a little bigger is to help with wind stability as the 70g plane needs extremely low wind levels.
@archiepaul97393 жыл бұрын
@@RCKickschannel yeh the biggies are really good fun! Try finding some local clubs on the bmfa club finder, youll learn more there than watching a months worth of you tube

I've only ever flown an RC aeroplane (notice my use of the correct noun here - a plane is a woodworking tool, hehe) in my simulator on my PC. I just plug in my Spektrum DX6 into a USB port via its special connection and away I go. A lot of fun and no expensive repairs when you crash. There isn't anywhere near to me when I can actually fly a real model aeroplane. I do, however have a couple of helicopters and several multirotors but the registration kerfuffle is rapidly making me lose interest in flying models. The whole drone fiasco has been totally mishandled by government and the C.A.A. imho. "Reach For The Sky (1956 film) - Never call it a plane, it's an aeroplane." 😉

With an RC car, there's plenty of customisability but I don't see how much you could change with a plane. Enjoyed seeing your unboxing, especially when you laughed at the landing gear 😂
