So Long Overdue! Sew Your Stash Update

A few years ago I set a challenge for myself to first shop my stash when starting a project before purchasing anything new. I invited my awesome viewers to join in on the Sew Your Stash Challenge. Every quarter (or so) I share progress updates on sewing through my stash.
Because of taking some time away from youTube, and being forgetful, I now have 9 months worth of updates to share! So grab a project to work on and settle in for lots of sewing chit chat :)

Never apologize! We're all busy/not busy right now! :) LOL. ALways glad to see your happy face! I have been moving my sewing room up to floors to the kids old bedroom space. It is a lot of cleaning, washing, organizing so not much sewing. Current wins are a kids mermaid fabric doll with removable tail to skirt. I hand painted a shoe box and mod podged it to match, adding sparkle stickers for the dolls name so she can learn her letters. Also a custom bridal mask with satin, netting, bedazzles and now I am making the whole wedding party custom masks because we don't know what the parameters for the small gathering will be. It is my gift to them :) BTWS, I have all the stuff for your quilt along to the side because I was making 3 at one time and hope to make it a winter catch up item that I can enjoy the rest of the process! :)

It's fun to watch your stash sewing videos, since I still use (basically daily) an over the shoulder purse you made me from fabrics from your stash many many years ago for winning a giveaway. Still love the colors (green and blue with dark brown stripes, mustard yellow lining and a light blue dog leash as a strap) and it has been my go-to purse for aaaaages. ❤️

I used 100% of my stash to make 107 masks! My biggest project win so far would be the silver skull shawl I have been working on. I'm almost done! After months of tiny chains 🖤

Hey Whitney! Missed you! Hope you are doing well! Amazingly I met someone through your channel and we are good friends now. We send each other gift boxes of fabric from each other's stash. It's fun and I am so thankful to have a sewing buddy. Great video. I make scrappy tote bags with my scraps.

Loved this Whitney. As always, it’s so good to see you. I feel like I know you. You have practically taught this 60 year old grandma to see lol. You are looking so well and I enjoyed this so much. By the way, I downloaded a simple “tailors ham” pattern and made one stuffed with scraps or leftover batting. However your teddy bear’s bum can help with this task. lol. Whitney, I've followed you for some time and love all of you sewing projects. I, too, have been doing masks and when i saw you were making them I naturally wanted to see how you made yours. I liked the assembly line way of making them. When you mentioned the puff quilt I was all ears and thought what a great idea! Your picture looks fabulous! Cannot wait to see your video on it. How you find the time for your projects and raise two little ones is hard to imagine. Take care, and looking forward to what's next for you.

Yay. Missed you! I wish we were neighbors, lol. You've been such a huge influence in getting me to start sewing again. Through this series it made me remember during the beginning of the pandemic , when you couldn't get elastic to make masks, and I dug through a few boxes and realized I had some elastic! I could cut down! And a failed attempt at doing a 5 strand braid with jewelry wire to make a bracelet, I actually cut it up into a few pieces and rounded off the edges and used it as a "wire" in the masks I made! Only problem, my sister wants another mask and now I've been stuck on how did I even attempt that 5 strand braid??? Lol.

My fabric is split between two different rooms, a closet, and a storage building so no way to get pics of it all. I don't have a dedicated sewing room anymore, so I tuck fabric here, there, and everywhere.

How adorable. Your daughter is definitely a mini you ;). I love your sews because I have not sewed for myself forever. I think I got intimidated by attempting the sizing equation. I am going to do it! My win was finally finding a mask pattern-which I tweaked that my family actually does not hate. It is Marcy Harriells 3D mask and I added side extensions and cut and sew them on the bias. That made a huge difference. And I will say, I hope at some point in time we can store the little devil's and maybe not wear them. Then we have More scraps, right?

Whitney, your puff quilt is so beautiful!! I like your use of color and design. Although I don't have a fabric stash, I do have 8 1/2 yards of Waverly bonded fabric, "Quaker Lady" that I bought a year ago at the Goodwill. Don't quite know what I'll use it for yet.

👏👏👏 I think my biggest win has been finishing two block of the month quilts i started ohhhh six or so years ago. I'm in the midst of doing a series of six quilts for friends' Kids -currently beginning number 5. Can't wait to see the puff quilt video! Yay for garment wins!

Great job using up so many things from your stash! This Sew your stash challenge has really inspired me to use mine, but this year I have mostly only been sewing masks - however, I did bust through a ton of my leftover quilt cotton so I'm happy about that.

I go through phases where I like sewing clothes (mostly costumes) and times where I can't stand sewing clothes. Right now happens to be a clothing phase for me :)
