Never left Canada except to go spend my hard earned money in Disneyland for my kids where I thought I was giving them the best experience. It tought them nothing and probably made things worse in the way they witnessed cash being spent. I pay so much in taxes in Canada, over 50%. I work my body bloody outside in sweltering heat and frigid winters. Meanwhile a government employee makes just as much and barely works. Then complains about having to go into the office 3 days a week. I was happy and ignorant even through Covid. Until one day i noticed i had to cut expenses and one of which was my kids RESP. Couldnt save for them because of inflation but mainly because 50% would go to tax. I'd look around and ask myselt... Well what am i getting for 50% tax? And the answer was what flipped a switch inside me. 3 day wait times in ER's. Failing infrastructure, Pay raises for politicians, more public sector jobs, more rules, more fees, less room just to go camping, more homeless, more drugs, more crim, less affordable homes, just less and less for my family and friends.
