You touched on all the reasons that I cannot wait to put Canada in the rearview mirror! The moment my business is stabilized enough to run entirely virtually, I am on the next flight out. Of course, that will be a private flight, since our current government feels it is their job to punish people who don't share their views on health procedures. As you might guess, the desire to be left alone is a huge driver in my very long list of reasons! I am also no longer comfortable paying taxes to a regime like ours. Whether it is giving giant payoffs to convicted terrorists, or funding programs that actively demonize the people who helped turn Canada into a pleasant and functional place to live, I simply cannot keep funding this nonsense. I mean food outside the United States is on average healthier. With exceptions for very few places, the cost of living is lower. In a fairly significant part of the world Internet access is cheaper and faster. In a majority of the world, people are far less likely to take as many risks with negative impacts on your health and well being as Americans do. In a majority of countries on earth you are about 10x less likely to be the victim of a murder, or severely injured do to violence. In a significant number of countries you are far less likely to require a car to live, further reducing your cost of living and your carbon footprint even if you travel by air a lot, because your percentage of the emissions from a commerical flight are miniscule. A large percentage of countries give you the opportunity to improve or maintain neural plasticity by exercising your brain learning a new language and many of these countries are small with neighbors who offer an opportunity to learn yet another language. Your healthcare costs will dramatically drop and in many countries not only will those costs drop, the level of care will dramatically improve too. The fact that you can walk more easily as your primary mode of transportation in many countries will improve a large percentage of Americans overall health.

I dislike the term "lower your taxes" and prefer it to be "get more value for your money." Nations where there are high taxes usually have miserable and angry residents. "Lower your taxes" or what I prefer to say "better taxation", that is based on what you buy or what you use, rather than what you earn, is a by-product of a happier environment. So I agree, the western legacy countries are full of nasty, jealous people who resent us for daring to leave for a better life and my reason for moving abroad is to be around happier, friendlier people, more freedom and a better quality of life. If you find such a place, the chances are the taxes are more progressive anyway.

Definitely helps if you are white though. I'm not and though you get all the other things like freedom to do what you want and a new perspective, you don't get the easy friendships. People assume you are the "help" despite being the boss. UK citizen. Sad it's that way, maybe in another generation or two.

Maybe used to be true but as a american the grass is greener overseas. Usa is crashing and burning hard. Will break off the middle class soon enough.

"If you'll go open a business in Mongolia you'll obviously sacrifice relationships." Mongolian women are still better than western women Andrew. Only African women are not looking as an upgrade, but the more transgender craziness develops in the West, the less sure I'm about that...
