Personally I believe this is the best iteration of ST so far by a huge margin. The trademark malicious schemer archetype is still there but alongside fresh takes on some of his earlier mostly-unfocused characteristics like the "immoral scientist" works with the experimental potions, abominable creatures and of course the claws; immaculate voice-acting and motions as well, really giving vibes of a younger CHT. But most exciting thing about him imho is gameplay: finally the old form is an actual gameplay mechanic that rightfully weaves another layer of depth into his already-intricate gameplay loop without straying too far from his core theme. Plus, you can steal fatalities like the old games now.

@@The_GK1 actually did'nt knew about that one. I've seen it first in Shaolin Monks where Kung Lao does cut him, and in the MKX comics where Kano cuts him with a kamidogu. That origin for the scar is pretty sick too, but for me the MK1 rendition works nice as well.

While I do like the scar being far more personal, (though in the Midway timeline it was done by the cyborgs, Shaolin Monks is its own thing, I recomend The 4th Snake's video on the subject) I wish it didn't come at the cost of the original Bi-Han's anti-heroic personality. Hes basically Sektor now which defeats the purpose of keeping him human and unbrainwashed.

I think the reasoning for making Kuai Liang Scorpion was to form a deeper meaning between the Lin Kuei and Shirai Ryu feud. Two clans fighting eachother due to brothers having a falling out due to clash of ideals/purpose. I'm not a huge MK lore person but I don't remember if they gave a reason for the clans feud in the OG timeline outside of just simply hating eachother.

So, the thing with Havik is, there currently IS no Chaosrealm in the New Era. However, there IS an Orderrealm, where Havik (and Darrius) was born. Havik was the lowest of the lowest of the lowest of the lowest class citizen around, and a lifetime of oppression left him completely mad and desperate to overthrow the regime of Seido in favor of complete Anarchy, which brings us to now. Also, Havik is also Dairou now; the latter being his real name, while the former is his chosen moniker.

Maybe because it’s not being forced on them this time. The rivalry was born out of deception, when Quan Chi lied to Scorpion saying that Sub-Zero was responsible for the murder of his family & clan, and when he killed Bi-Han, Kuai Liang became his enemy for the death of his brother.

Because of the Gargoyles cartoon, I will always notice when idiots cuff their captured victims incorrectly. There's a scene in that cartoon where a detective sees a cop bringing someone in to be processed and notes they have their hands cuffed in front of them instead of behind their back. Cuffing them in the back makes it harder for them to resist. Obviously they cuff in front here because it lets Kuai Liang fight back, but I can never unsee this glairing mistake whenever I see it.

Havik is retconned to be Dairou in this timeline. He's from Orderrealm but he's against the regime (that's actually Dairou original bio on PS2 games) and he made himself an agent of chaos using the name "Havik". This is further proved by Reptile vs Havik intro dialogue where Reptile calls him by Dairou.

You know like many I was mixed about making Scorpion into Kuai Liang but I grew to like this Idea to Loving It, we never seen the Brothers in conflict before one becomes a Wraith and the fact that Bi-Han killed his Father is both obvious and very accurate to his Character as Ofcourse he’s so Narcissistic and Egotistical on his Twisted Vision that it cost his 2 Brothers to go against him and Kuai Liang got his famous Scar, the Mark of a Traitor and a symbol of Opening his Eyes to the Truth that with Thomas and his Beloved’s Help they will Build the Shirai Ryu as a Bright Future in Scorpion and Smoke’s Endings, also it good to hear from Sektor and Cyrax that perhaps they will be DLC in the Future and in the Next Game and I have a strange feeling Frost will be Bi-Han’s Daughter? But that last part is simply a Speculation,plus Daisuke Tsuji does a fantastic Scorpion Voice and Kuai Liang giving Dairou…. I mean Havik scars by Melting Gold was really Clever as it shows his Healing Factor has some flaws like Deathstroke’s.

Sub-Zero has an intro with Shao asking the General what he thinks of his protege, to which Shao says that ‘she’ means to usurp him, clearly talking about Frost so she must have joined fairly recently and this can’t be Bi-Han’s daughter. Also, sad to hear that Cyrax might be fully evil in this timeline. In the previous ones, he defected for standing against the Cyber Initiative but here he’s fully loyal to Bi-Han, so will this loyalty continue and become fully willing to be a cyborg or will this path Bi-Han is going down end up with Cyrax finally defecting to the Shirai Ryu?

I know alot of people dunk on Darrius and Dairou(who is Havik in this timeline) as "uninteresting," but Darius back in the 3d era was a truly dispicable individual. He was the leader of a resitence/rebellion against the Order Realm, and in order to recruit memembers, he would hire people dressed as Seidan guards to kill someone's family in order to sway them to his cause. He did this with Dairou and even sent him to kill someone in a similar fashion. He had both Dairou and Havik on his side as well going against Hotaru and the rest of the order realm. The Chaos/Orderealm group from the 3d era are heavily slept on story wise.

And in previous timelines he was I believe either a resident of Saido (Orderrealm) but then left to live in Chaosrealm where he made the realm apt to its name than before, or he was supposed to be some Elder God-tasked demigod guardian of Chaosrealm like Raiden and Shao were to Earthrealm and Outworld but then turned Chaosrealm into his personal chaotic playground. Darius meanwhile has always been a resident of Orderrealm and a rebel against the tyrannical government, but his means and morality made him really no better than the rulers of Orderrealm so it was kind of like picking your poison between the rebels and the rulers. I think it makes sense to have Havik and Darius part of the same group and maybe have the feud between Orderrealm and Chaosrealm be switched in this timeline to be Orderrealm becoming Chaosrealm after Havik had Rain flood the place.
